But funny. I think this is up SS's alley, byut would love to see Polanski's take. We'll see how good he is with a younger cast after Oliver Twist comes out. I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

Laugh if you want, but remmeber that in the books Tintin was always the most boring character. Surround him with great supporting charachters and you have yourself a worthy TINTIN movie. may I suggest starting with Billy Connolly as Captain Haddock? What about Jim Broadbent as the Thompson twins?

Bleh, Tintin. I have a bunch of Tintin albums and I'm not really a big fan. Yeah, Herge's art is beautiful, and the stories are clever adventures, but the lesser-known Spirou et Fantasio stories (about two friends, a bellboy and a journalist, with a lot of sci-fi/adventure elements) are, IMHO, far superior. I would personally prefer to see these in some sort of animated or live-action form. It'll never happen, though, which is a shame. The characters have a long history (I think Spirou first began publication way back in 1939 or so, in fact).

... is excellent casting for the Thompson twins. But they've got to adapt "Destination moon" and "explorers on the moon"! I can't think of any two Tintin albums more suited to a big-screen adaptation...

Two Oscar-caliber directors, each one from the Top 10 Directors of the XX Century list, making junk flicks based on some crappy unknown French comic book? Sheesh. Polanski, if you want a comic book movie, make Thorgal instead; it's a serious and somber comic book, close to your style... and you can talk the screenplay over with Rosinski in the same native language. :-D

What is the point of remaking an excellent animated/cartoon series as a live action movie? Even an Anime would at least pick up on the great graphics of Herge. This will be just another example of Hollywood killing a great idea and turning it into a Zombie, I can't see how they can do this without ruining any attraction Tintin had - another Thunderbirds anyone?
they've already made a live action Tintin movie........

It's called Tintin and the blue oranges. (translated because I would've of butchered the french spelling). It's not based on any of the albums (obviously) and came out sometime in the 80's (?). I have it on vhs and there are no english subtitles but it's pretty trippy to watch. They did a great job finding actors that looked like the characters. If you have a french bookstore in your area I bet you can find it. Just in case anyone is interested.

how come EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME Roman Polanski's (the brilliant, extremely talented director) name comes up, somebody has to remark about that shit he did in the past? who gives a fuck what a dude does in his personal life? if he does his job well, I don't give a shit. I'm watching his movies, not his life. christ, and I was starting to like Moriarty lately.

There were two Tintin movies in the sixties. 'Tintin and The Blue Oranges' and 'Tintin and The Golden Fleece'. They used to show them on Brit TV when I was a kid. You can get them on DVD but without English subtitles. Guess I should have paid more attention to Miss Pritchard in French lessons at school!

this is the shit I'm talkin about. are you telling me that every single celebrity that you've ever liked has a totally clean slate? no, I'm not okay with what he did, but that's not my fucking business. shit happens everyday, all the time. All I'm saying is, the guy has talent and knows how to make good movies. that's all I really care about. shouldn't that be all you guys really care about? I mean, we're supposed to be movie fans here, right?

"The Blue Lotus" & "Tintin In Tibet" in a single movie???!!!

The sourse is probably wrong about this coz I don't think these two can be included in the same film. It's true that both have got Tchang but the story is completely different. In "Lotus" Tintin (and Tchang) deal with Drug traffic while, in "Tibet" Tintin goes to the Himalayas(encountering the Yeti!) in search of his Chinese friend (who is merely seen in the story). I think it would be quite strange to change plot in the middle of the film, unless they change the story completely. Besides, "Lotus" is itself the second part of a story, the first part being (something like) "The Pharaoh's Cigars." That's "Les Cigares du Pharaon" in French (I've never read Tintin in English, sorry). In this one, the whole Drug Traffic thing starts. It makes more sense if they're making "Pharaoh" & "Lotus" rather than "Lotus" & "Tibet."

Since the days of 'Spaced' I've always fancied Simon Pegg for the coveted role of the ace cub reporter. They'd save money on hairpieces too!!!
