Yeah, I am not the biggest fan of films that take either an extreme right or left wing stance. Personally, I stand more to the right. But I can appreciate that Moore is a good, if not great, filmmaker, and deserves to be respected for that. However, given the political climate in France and neighboring countries, I believe that this film can be a little dangerous for America. That is, it helps show other countries that America is weakened by it's own people not supporting its leaders. Hell, It's the middle of the night, so I'm a bit tired. What do I know..

How long will it take for some talkbacker to call Francois Truffaut a dirty French fuck for giving a present to Michael Moore. Let's hear more about how Cannes has lost its meaning and that it was just the Bush-hating French wanting to give Moore an award, despite the fact that there was only one French person on the jury (and three Americans). Let's hear how the French always champion idiots like Jerry Lewis and Mickey Rourke, despite the fact that they were also the first to give greater recognition to Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, and Samuel Fuller, among others. Let's hear about how the French suck because they won't back us up and hate Bush, despite the fact that you could say that about countless other countries and their civilians that refused to take part in the war. Let's talk about how the French would be speaking German if it wasn't for the U.S., despite the fact that if it wasn't for the French we would have lost the War of 1812 and would be speaking with British accents. Or how the French gave us the Statue of Liberty as a gift, yet the current administration seems uninterested in real freedom, only Operation Iraqi Freedom. Let's hear those bullshit arguments where you ignore the facts and use selective memory once more.

None of the people who need to see it the most will do so willingly. The average conservative or Bush supporter will automatically assume that it's "unpatriotic leftist trash" and won't be caught dead watching it, unless only to gather more ammunition for their anti-Moore tangents. We all know tons of fence-sitters and Bush-supporters, and it's up to use to drag each and every one of them to see this movie when it comes out (praying to God it does).

Old Boy is not as violent as everyone says. People seem to be making this movie out to be have Battle Royale or Passion of the Christ level violence. If you want to get to superficial reviews of Old Boy here's mine. Old Boy has one of the cutest actresses in it.

I said this on the AICN talkbacks when the bastard was elacted. This family is a PLAGUE upon America. You have/take so much yet give so little. Perhaps it's time to behave responsibly. The world might respect you a little more. Thankfully my prediction is... KERRY BT A LANDSLIDE!!! GO FOR IT AMERICA... SHOW THE WORLD YOU CARE OR THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE WILL SEEM LIKE A MINOR FOOTNOTE WHEN COMPARED TO THE PAYBACK YOU GOT COMING.

Maybe I'm the only conservative out there that is patiently waiting to see this movie. But I know better than to talk either for or against a movie that I HAVEN'T SEEN. That goes for both sides. Once you see the movie, by all means, go crazy. But maybe a bit more prudence (to steal from GW'S dad) would go a long way.

And that payback would be? Yeah, I thought so. Just a bunch of hot air from another lunatic who should just shut the fuck up with inane statements like that. It's because of dolts like Workshed with their rabid foaming at the mouth rants which betray some sort of psychological disorder (to the point he should be watching out for the men in white suits with mosquito nets) that I can't wait till November when Bush WINS again. Lord knows the talkback boards will be a hysterical riot to read election night with people like Workshed around. Hmm, let me check my watch. Par for the course, I'm guessing he'll be out wearing a sandwich board sign and out pacing the streets predicting universal Armageddon any moment now...

Propoganda is propoganda. I can't help but imagine, however, that Moore's film is even more politically motivated. Riefenstahl was trying to keep someone in power, and Moore is trying to get someone out of office (how does Tarantino respond to THAT when he says the award wasn't political? Is he a Republican? I don't THINK so).

Compared to the shit that the americans did in Iraq, Oldboy is not that violent at all. Think about it. Raping, killing and humiliating innocent people is what americans do. Oldboy is violent? Idiotic thoughts make your site look silly. Your site advertised Oldboy as one of the best movies during 2003. You stupid MF.

I have to get these things off my chest: 1. Reading that hysterical rant on President Bush, etc. bolsters my belief that what may have begun as healthy debate over our response to 9/11 quickly became a hate-Bush trend and then morphed into all-out irrationality. I've wtnessed this in other areas, like when a friend goes from being concerned about the environment to actually being angry at you for not recycling. 2. I can't help but believe that if our soft, immature generation were running things when evil went on the march in Europe none of us would have the freedom to obsess over movies and speak out minds so reklessly today. 3. If history is any indicator we in the west are doomed to fall under the weight of our own weakness, self-indulgence, decadence and unwillingness to face reality. God help us.
