Dogville is the most pretentious pile of shit I've heard of in the last 20 years! The fuck?! I'm gonna pay ten fucking green ones to see a filmed play??? I knew very little about it before watching it. I knew the cast and director, but that's about it. I hated the first hour. It was so fucking slow and I thought it would be the worst 3 hour experience of my life. But it does get better. A lot better. And it's got a fucking great ending. But I'll never watch this again. Masterpiece? Fuck no! Interesting film? Hell Yes!

And Lars von Trier for that matter. No one seems to agree or have the exact same opinion or thoughts about his film. I recently saw it and was incredibly pleased and moved by the film. It was well worth watching, but I don't think that I'll be able to view it again for some time. It was definitely a wonderful film.

I live in Hawaii, and nobody here cares about this "festival." The theaters showing these films are completely empty. I can see reporting on the main HIFF in November (which is also boring, but at least they manage to get "celebrities" like Robin Shou to show up), but enough with this poor relation. Please.

seriously, there's a limit to what I can take from "pure cinema" offerings. There's cool things you can do with movies, and then there's jacking off all over the place. Its like post-OK COMPUTER Radiohead albums: stupid bullshit that a couple of people convince themselves is good. Completely and utterly pointless.

Add Dogville to the list of Cannes Fesitval Palm D'Or winners that totally fucking rock (Barton Fink, Wild at Heart, Taxi Driver, Sex Lies & Videotape, Pulp Fiction, Paris Texas, to name a few). This movie is gripping from beginning to end (WHAT AN ENDING!), and I was surprised to discover it was 3 hours long. Best film so far this year!
