I've just seen some clips from Spiderman 2 on another site, and my excitement for this movie has just increased 100 times. What I love about the web-slinging shots is that they (so far)all seem to be bathed in the golden glow of afternoon sun. That may sound a bit lame to some of you guys but there's nothing like a nice warm golden sunny afternoon, y'know? The kind of afternoon where you go to watch a big summer 'event' picture and come out afterwards and the sun's just going down and there's still time to go and get a beer with your friends and talk about the movie till the pub shuts....I guess I like my movies sunny! But things like that are reeeally important in a movie.

..this morning before heading to the gym. (I get up REAL early)Must've been part of the trailer, but I distinctly remember Spidey being knocked off the train, swinging BETWEEN THE CAB AND TRAILER OF AN 18 WHEELER, SHOT FROM THE REAR WHILE TRAVELING AT A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED, Doc Ock on the train, Spidey diving at him from above, Spidey (again from the rear) being dragged through the street by the train whilst webbed to it, and some more coffee shop attack footage. NBC local newscast in Miami, around 6 am. Holy Shit in a Handbag.

...Just you watch. And the third movie? The Sinister Six, with Harry as the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, the Lizard, Electro, the Sandman, and (surprise!) Venom. Personally, though, I would prefer to see them hold off on The Six until SPIDER-MAN 6 (naturally enough), but Raimi & Co. have to top 2 somehow...

See IMDB.com at box office and data. This has to be the second most official expensive movie in history! (if you don't count the inflated budgets like Titanic or Waterworld). Only Terminator 3 has a bigger approved budget. Man, Columbia Pictures has a LOT of confidence in this particular project.

they introduce anything involving Venom in this movie, even if in the very end. There are so many great spidey stories to get to before that. I think it would kick major ass to see a flick with spidey in the black symbiote costume himself, dealing internally with what its consequences are. Also I highly doubt they'd use the Sinister Six, it would be a disaster waiting to happen, just look at the multi-villaned Batman flicks. Hopefully Nolan doesn't have the same problem. Even in X-Men there isn't enough time to develop all the characters...6 baddies is simply too many

Then you get spyware in your PC from just about every site out there so you get pop up banners left and right. Now these goddamn ads actually play movies and make sounds. I hate them so much! I also 'love' ads that pop up in front of whatever it is you are looking at and you have to close the shit down to see it (which is almost bad enough) but you can't find the fucking 'x' close button thing!

Seems like that's what Raimi's giving us. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy to death, but is that Subway scene with the passengers who get in Ock's way just another "You mess with New York, you mess with all of us!" garbage in the first one. You know, people throwing bricks at the Green Goblin and shit. Just cause it's NYC and it's post 9/11 doesn't mean that crap has to happen. And how about "Do you love me? Then kiss me." With the GIANT LIPS coming at you...and then the cheesy as hell intercut zoom shots of Peter and MJ. I know it's a comic book movie, but that doesn't mean it can't have subtlety in the direction. Oh well, it still sounds like it will rock my balls off.

I think Raimi's true comic book masterpiece is DARK MAN...to me, it feels more like a comic book movie than Spider-Man or X-Men. And it's more fun to watch. Raimi seems too restrained on Spider-Man.

Does anyone find Manhattan to be like the world's largest outdoor mall lately? All that shit about culture and everything else seems like it's long gone. Oh sure, there are the usual suspects among museums, and they are great, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing new in NY anymore. And the stuff that is, for instance, ALL of the art galleries in Chelsea, and pretty much the entire independent film scene in NY is overrun by unbelievably pretentious assholes who either A) have rich parents or unbelievable connections or B) are in the top ten percent of the world's bullshitters. If you're sensitive or just don't know how to put on a show for everyone and attend the parties and hobnob with all the other B.S. er's in NY, then you get labeled as a freak or , even worse, untalented. I've seen it in the art scene, the film scene, the music scene, etc. The funniest thing is that Independent Film Monthly? I think... anyway, one of those magazines was running an article about the best cities to film in on a low budget and they were saying that NY is the greatest because it's toughness weeds out all the posers. Hey man, last time I checked, NY is nothing but fucking posers. The toughness is actually bullshit in disguise as real working knowledge and talent. People like Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone(both known for being shy, introverted and equipped with BS detectors in their NYU days) would never make it through that scene these days because there's no differentiation between whose talented and whose not. Seriously, go to any short film festival or any gallery and see what gets praised and what doesn't. Has absolutely nothing to do with talent anymore. Anyway... besides that little rant, NY is just wall-to-wall Duane Reades, Staples, Starbucks, burrito joints, Gaps... you name it, if it's commercial AND trendy, there's one every five feet. Except for a few places, NY sucks ass... seriously, both the people, the traffic, the noise, and the bullshit you have to wade through make it unbearable. At least before, the culture and the quality of the people made it worth it, but it's just one big phoney now. And this is someone who used to LOVE NY. Goddamn shame... all cause of insanely high rents and intense commercialism. And this has nothing to do with 9/11, so don't get your panties up in a bunch. Pretend 9/11 didn't happen for a minute and just listen to what I'm saying about the city itself and how it's just going down the shitter...
9/11: The Movie
by BillEmic
Mar 26th, 2004
11:36:33 PM
It's very easy to imagine 9/11: The Movie. Directed by Michael Bay, nach. Picture this: Ben Affleck leaps from the rooftop of the first tower as it collapses - while he's draped in an American flag, of course - and then crashes through the window of the second tower, just in time to slam his fist into a terrorist. Because that would be a major plot twist: there were terrorists inside the buildings too. Ben Affleck would be an employee there and Angelina Jolie would be his TV reporter girlfriend. Samuel L. Jackson would be the 'local hero' bus driver, trying to transport people out the way - who also discovers the terrorists' plot before hand but no one believes him. What do you think?

...But at the amount of destruction and death I've seen on TV and the alternate media sites on the net - all from the hands of America since 911. Well, it just doesn't seem that tragic anymore. And personally I'm a little sick and tired of how many Americans hide behind it, and use it to justify killing 500,000 kids. Do any of you take the time to relise just how much pain has been caused through out the world by your government? All you guys ever talk about it stopping terrorism. Come again?? Whos the one dropping bombs on other countries? Who's the one planning to drop more bombs? Who's the one telling lies. Yes lies, to rally the american people behind starting these wars? Wars?? slaughter is the correct word. If it were war then there would be bombs dropping on your country too. If a new terrorist strike does take place in your country, just remember (if it's not staged to start more wars) that you guys wanted war. And war if faught on both sides. Anyone see Star Wars. You guys are the Empire. And any attacks will come from those trying to bring the Death Star down. But Spiderman looks cool. Would have liked to see the helicopter get tangled between the world trade center... Still can't work out why it had to be cut.

The face of the enemy
by BillEmic
Mar 27th, 2004
02:46:49 PM
I think the real problem - or at least one of the many - is that you can't actually have a "war" against terrorism, simply because you can't wage war against a faceless enemy. To compensate, the US government has made Osama the poster boy for terrorism, making him this generation's Hitler. But do people really expect terrorism to end - or for things to get any better - once Osama is captured/killed/dies of old age? Of course not...because terrorism is more of a concept, an idea, that grows in people's hearts and minds - usually after their country is bombed or taken advantage of by a larger, more supreme power. What does that tell you? We're screwed. /// I'm glad some people found the point I was trying to make with that 9/11: The Movie comment. It'll happen, eventually, but probably about 70 years from now once the survivors and their families are gone, and those of us that remember it are too old to raise a fuss and stop Hollywood. // Also, I think Chamelon would make a decent Spider-Man movie villain...maybe?

i can totally see the first teaser trailer: the screen starts dark, but we hear the roar of a jet engine. slowly the rear interior of an airliner comes into focus. the camera slowly moves backwards, revealing row after row of confused passengers, showing traces of panic. the camera keeps backing up, and a terrorist is walks from the foreground with a small box cutter, policing the aisles. the camera slowly turns around as it nears the front of the plane, showing another terrorist by the cockpit door with his eyes moving among the hostages. the camera then dissolves through the cockpit door, showing a bound and gagged pilot shaking, a terrorist flying the plane chanting something softly. the camera moves beyond the cockpit window, through some clouds, and far in the distance, the two towers are visable. fade to black, and fade in the title: "9/11: THE MOVIE." the sound of the jet engine gets softer. fade in: "EXPLODING INTO THEATERS SUMMER 2005."

Lads, each time I try to forget the shitty world we live in for a few minutes and visit this site for some goofy fun, unctuous cunts like GingerTwat or Obscure Reference or anathema_1973 feels that he/she has to opine inappropriately in this forum, baiting the rest of us. I hate ignorant, foolishly written posts, devoid of fact or historical context. Furthermore, I feel compelled to respond even though I know that I shouldn't (making me equally guilty of using this forum inappropriately). Responding only encourages the felchers to continue to troll with their inane and badly composed screeds. However, Harry, or whoever maintains this site, seemingly refused to moderate Talk Back and ban those who refuse to adhere to the accepted and mostly honored protocol of talking about films. If we stop taking the bait, then we can talk about Spider-Man which is why we're here in the first place. Agreed?
why are we still arguing about Iraq?
by lynxpro
Mar 27th, 2004
10:48:43 PM
You people simply amaze me. You do realize that you are crying over the overthrow of a dictatorship, right? What was redeemable about Saddam Hussein? If there were no WMD in Iraq, why did Hussein defy the UN for over a decade over disclosure? There was nothing for him to gain from a bluffing match if he had no weapons; all his defiance did was antagonize the US and the British into overthrowing him. That is insane. Iraq will be a better place without Hussein. This is a painful period currently, but so was Germany after WWII. If you don't believe there was opposition to Allied occupation, I suggest you tune into the History Channel. Nazis assassinated "collaborators" after the war. It is no different with Iraq. You have deposed Baathists and foreign terrorists trying to kill as many Coalition forces as possible. And yes, the Iraqi people are proud and they don't want an occupying force in their country for a long time either, but the funny thing is, they are telling the pollsters that they don't want the Americans to leave just yet until the chaos clears. Iraqi will be a federal democracy next year. How many other Arab nations do you see that are democratic? Yeah, you can say we forced democracy on the Iraqis, but we did to the Germans as well, and I'm sure most Germans would say "thank you" for that. Now you anti-war folk think you are trendy for opposing the war, but just be thankful you weren't an Iraqi citizen. Over here, you can criticize Bush (or in the UK, Blair); in Iraq, if you criticized Saddam, you got fed into the industrial sized plastic shredders. Good stuff. Did we go to war without UN Approval? Yes. Screw the UN. The reason why they didn't vote to authorize our little adventure is because the French, Germans, and Russians had plenty to hide over all their business arrangements carried out with Saddam's regime that were supposed to be illegal since the end of Desert Storm. Those jokers issued passports to Baathist regime members so they could flee the country during the occupation and not cast light on the dubious deals. That's why the French goverment was so anti-war. They had too much to lose from it. After all, before the US aided Saddam in the Iran-Iraq War, Saddam was France's boy. France billed Saddam as a "modernizer." They helped him build a nuclear power plant that would've given him enough plutonium to build nuclear weapons - but the Israelis destroyed the plant. France, Germany, and Russia also had a lot of outstanding loans with the former Iraqi regime that the US invalidated with the installation of the Iraqi Governing Council. Those countries are pissed because they just lost billions over it, and since they didn't back the war, they will be frozen out on the oil deals that will go through. So why don't you analyze the motives of the other supporters of the anti-war movement. The US is Rome of our era. No tinpot dicator should defy the world's superpower, just as no sane ruler challenged Rome. If we turn a blind eye, we'll have to deal with dozens more wannabe North Koreas. Look what engagement under Clinton did to North Korea. North Korea lied to the UN and went ahead with creating WMD. Now North Korea is scared that the US will invade. Good. Its called "peace through strength" and Bush is playing the "mad bomber" strategy that Nixon favored. Its already caused Libya to give up. Hopefully others will follow suit. I pay taxes and I'd rather our volunteer army actually do something instead of sitting around pretending to be Boy Scouts ("be prepared") playing with guns every once in awhile. Rome advanced the Western World by using its military power. The British did the same thing. That's not something to be ashamed of. And to those that just wimpered over Scotland, crack open a history book. Once Scotland became part of the entity known as "Great Britain," there were a bunch of positive things that transpired. The English and the Scottish stopped fighting each other and wound up taking over much of the Earth. Not bad for a small little island country. That union ushered in the industrial age, modern democracy and the world's appreciation of the English language. Not too shabby indeed. It also created what we now call the United States, the inheritor of the former Empire in spirit (just as Rome inherited from the Greeks, and I'm not talking anal sex). But yes, be fashionable and take verbatim what you learned in a Mel Gibson film for history. Fuckin' leprotards and frogs.

...That's rich saying that the French and the Germans didn't want war with Iraq because they had dealings with the country. That is rich, indeed. Did you ever think that the french and Germans didn't want war becuase they've had it spack dab in their faces before and now live in a world free of such harsh realities? How about the fact they didn't want Gun happy America with it's nuclear arsenal coming on over to their side of the world and filling the air with radioactive dust. the equivalent of 4,000 hiroshimas is present in the Afgan and Iraqi soil as a result of depleted uranium weaponry. You have the nerve to say that the people of the world didn't want war with Iraq because of person interests. C'mon man, America has been fucking over Iraq for the past 10 years, defying UN demands to stop flying over and bombing the country - toying witht he people and creating TERROR. And what happened in all those years of American and Israely planes buzzing the country. the people would get scared and fire on the aircrafts. Then the Americans would go "Hey, they fired on us... lets go!!" And start dropping carpet bombs. An illegal WMD under the UN. The UN tried to keep the peace and save a lot of people from being killed. Argue all you wish that Saddam is now gone and the world is a better place. I'm looking around scratcing my head trying to see exactly what is so much better, personally. Plus, do sonme reasearch. israel is in much more violation of UN resolutions that Iraq ever was. And Israel actually does have WMD. And Said nation is actually going into it's neighbors and attacking. Yes I know, they're defending themselves from terrorists..... Do some research again and see how Israel came into being. The point is, The War on Iraq was a crock of shit. And anyone who thinks that democracy will florish as a result... well you keep telling yourself that. and keep watching the main stream media for all the 'truth'. The real truth is that things are not good at the moment. and something BIG and BAD is going to happen very soon. Americans don't seem to know anything because they're fed all the American government propaganda. But we in the outside world get the real news. We see everything for what it is. And what that is is a powerful nation going in and stonping on a couple of 3rd world countried with no means of defending themselves. As if America was afraid of Iraq. There are dozens of nuclear countries that want to wipe America clean. And those nations want to only because they are sick of seeing the blood shed every day - all at the hands of America. Wake Up America. Wake up! There will be no peace and no terrorism until you stop the carnage from the source. The death toll is upwards of 800,000, not 8,000. Terrorsm is not being stopped out, it is growing. And when it hits, then I fear the 'retalition' America will feel justified in carrying out.

Actually, iTylerDurden, I wouldn't consider the British to be the creators of concentration camps. I'd actually bestow the credit on the US government since they themselves came up with the idea for "reservations." The Germans didn't get it from the British. The Nazis were fond of claiming that Germany needed "living space," which is the same thing as Manifest Destiny. And while the British are bestowed the credit for the concentration camp, they didn't shoot the Boer prisoners nor errect gas chambers so its pretty dubious to lump them with the Nazis in that endeavour. GingerTwit, its pretty rich to claim that innocent Iraqis were scared of US and British jets patroling the "No Fly Zones" which were set up at the end of Desert Storm. Saddam bought advanced radar equipment from the Russians (you know, 1 of the 3 countries that were so vocal about opposing the toppling of Saddam?). Every time they locked onto American and British jets for their SAMs (before the war), that's when they'd get blasted. That's much different than Masood at the bazaar holding up his AK-47 and firing wildly into the air. Yes, I'm fully aware of the news media outside of the US and I do not consider Fox News to be anything more than entertainment for some. And no, I do not agree with the policies of the State of Israel and I'd even go so far as to label it an apartheid regime and the main obstacle to peace under their current Prime Minister. As for a bunch of nations with nukes able to wipe out the US, think again. The only nation besides Russia with that capability is China, and they only have range of hitting the West Coast of the US. Anyone attacking the US or Britain with nukes has a serious suicidal issue. The Bush Administration did make mention that North Korea would be wiped off the face of the Earth if it fired a nuclear missile at the US or at its forces anywhere in Asia. As for depleted uranium - yeah, that's a problem. That's a NATO-wide problem. The Pentagon is actually researching how to make plastic bullets effective (without resorting to rail gun technology) in order to replace lead due to environmental concerns. Do you see any other militaries doing the same research? Nope. And I go back to history. We are Rome. And if we don't stand up to extremists around the world and prevent them from gaining WMD, we could be faced with going back to the Dark Ages. The Jihadists do not respect any other culture or religion but their own. I will assume you did see what the Taliban did to the ancient statues in Afghanistan prior to the American "invasion." So if it takes our military to wipe out the *bastardes* like them, so be it. This "European" (ahem, French & German) attitude of appeasement and claiming that non-whites do not appreciate democracy must go. Their *wuss-ta-tude* allowed Serbia to terrorize Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo until the US decided to punish the regime through bombings which later caused it to collapse. And I'll give the Clinton Administration credit for it although it took way too many years for them to grow the spine to do it.

you know, if they were to do the clone storyline (gawd forbid it, speaking as an original Spider-Man Expatriot), Jake Gyllenhaal would make one hell of a Scarlett Spider....

FUCK the clones!! And while Saddam was stalling around with UN Weapons inspectos for the past 10 years, we were enforcing economic sanctions that have killed as many as hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq through hunger. Yeah, I can see how good can come of that....?? I can also see how good can come of Britain culturally anally raping China in the 19th century through illegal opium trade and all that jazz. Some one's on crack here.

Anyone taken the time to imagine themselves in this shoes of this administration... with an entire planet of 6 Billion people wanting your heads on pikes. Guess I'd be nervous about this coming November too. Seriously, I look around me and I see no love for these 'elites'... only on 10% of these talkbacks.

I need you.my existence consists of brief periods of consciousness between my bi-hourly channel surfing sessions on Time Warner cable and my mandatory(self imposed) 16 hours of sleep per day. I check AICN 4times a day...is that unhealthy? My ex- is a 5'10"Swede who wont leave me be w/my new girl... this website is one of my few solices from the repetetive chore of deciding whether to taste leftovers or the catch of the day... anyway, wassup w/"The Warriors" remake? There, there, Twat. Hush, baby. Everything will be alright in the morning. Now, please crawl back onto your pub stool and finish your 8th pint of warm beer and your plate of wretched cuisine paid for by your dole money. Stick to impressing your equally soused countrymen and fellow smackheads with your infantile opinions, while the Spice Girls warble in the background. Be careful not to make any witty Sporty Spice jokes or you could get glassed. Then wake up tomorrow at 12:00 PM and check the post for your next bit of welfare dosh before turning on your state-controlled and subsidized television programming (maybe there will be more news about left-wing Parliamentarian and Saddam shill George Galloway) before starting the entire sordid daily routine over again. Honestly, with all your activity, Twat, it's a wonder you have time to compose your feeble posts which amuse us all greatly. We only wish they were about Spiderman.

Hah, I really shouldn't go there but...right before the first plane hits, the camera switches into "bullet time" - which in this movie will be called "JET TIME" - and shows the impact from every possible angle, in slow motion, with swirling clouds of glass and particles.

They took the link off of course, but dammit, I got to see it, albeit with theatre noise in the background. That CGI has gotten a little better in two years, I must say. Doc Ock flinging cab doors as frisbee projectiles...classic.
