Angel is good cause it is all dark and stuff. Buffy is all bubble gum and cheerleaders, Angel is all girl detectives dad's getting murdered while Angel watches and Cordelia blinking out of existance.

And it seems that Whedon actually has some real sense. Why should the final episode of a very good, adult show be marred by a cheesy triangle trumped up to showcase an actress who, at best, treated her character and show (at least for the two last awful years) as a burden and a chore? Angel the Series deserves much better than that. I for one am relieved that I won't be seeing Gellar's bony ass in the Angel finale -- maybe now they can give it the "Wild Bunch" ending everybody's been speculating about. I'd rather see Angel and Spike die heroically than see them dancing idiotically around a character who had little or nothing to do with the show for the past five years. Good on you, Joss.

She was on Ellen a couple days ago, and she said she'd just gotten back from Japan last Friday. She was promoting Scooby Doo, and Angel didn't come up in the interview.

Maybe Angel or Spike could sire Buffy and make her Buffy the Vampire Vampire Slayer. Then all three of them can do a TV movie where they get a baby dropped off by Dawn, and hilarity insues. Why can't they cancel all reality tv and any non single camera comedy on television instead?

My heart really breaks. The way I see it SMG was Buffy during the first 4 seasons. The last 3 seasons she was SMG. I have enjoyed Angel immensely and the most hated scenes were the scenes in which that whining annoying SMG guest-starred. I am soooooooo glad she won't be there for the finale. Angel carved out its own destiny and never needed whining annoying Buffy to do it. Angel surpassed Buffy big time and it's a big crime that we won't get a sixth season. SMG can stick her Scooby Doo where the proverbial sun don't shine and her Grudge will probably be sludge. I am not gonna miss her one little bit.

I've read that they have a penultimate/antepenultimate episode called The Girl in Question revolving around Buffy without her being there. Why did they even bother? If they can't bring Buffy then they shouldn't bring Dawn to pass some information or whatever; that's just annoying. And I'm really hoping we don't get another body double like that one in the Soul Purpose episode; that was annoying too... I understand that they don't want the final episodes to revolve around a guest star, but they should just do a cameo with her at the end, to maybe set her up with either Spike or Angel, that'd be nice. Ugh this just isn't the right season to end the show on anyways, why WB, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I'm glad

The finale of Angel should not focus on Buffy, it should focus on the cast. Besides seeing Angel and Spike fight over Buffy (like two puppies fighting for a pat on the head from their master) is just lame!

I would hope that they would just not show her (Buffy) at all then. The last time with the body double and the old voice overs was painfully inept and cheesy as hell.

would be to bring back a caracter that died in the ass 3-4 years ago,and then proceed to not even get the actress to play the role,Angel has ruled the ill named 'Buffyverse' for the passed 5 series and would continue to if given the chance!

Herc you blithering sod - why don't you post the links to www.supportangel.org and www.savingangel.com - it may sound corny but they're getting some good press lately. CNN picked up the moving billboards that have been driving around Hollywood, and there was a NY Post item yesterday. All this press can't be a bad thing.

Michelle Trachtenberg, Julie Benz and Juliet Landau will be reprising their respective roles of Dawn, Darla and Drusilla on the May 5th episode that also would've starred SMG. This episode will resolve the whole Angel/Buffy/Spike triangle before the the 2 -part series finale that airs on the 12th and 19th. I would guess Julie Benz's and probably Juilet Landau's appearnces are flashbacks to when both Angel and Spike were evil (as we all know Darla spiked herself in season three).

From the Bronze Beta Buchanan says: (Fri Mar 26 00:49:13 2004) [Edit/Delete] Hi, Chris Buchanan here from Mutant Enemy. Long time lurker, first time poster. Thought it was about time (OK, it's way past time), to give all of the ANGEL fans an enormous shout out/thank you directly from Joss and all of us at Mutant Enemy. Your kind words, support and efforts (flowers, beanie babies, postcards, mobile billboards, adverts, etc., etc.) in the weeks since the cancellation of ANGEL was announced, have been darn near overwhelming. We really, really appreciate the love. It goes without saying here at the Bronze Beta, but I also wanted to let you all know that the Buffy/Angel-verse will never die. While we consider the possibility of Season 6 of ANGEL as remote as the discovery of WMDs in Iraq, Mutant Enemy already has plans for more tales from the world of ANGEL. I can't comment on exactly what form they'll take, but rest assured, it's in the works. Thanks again to all of the fans, the "Save Angel" organizations, and your efforts taken in our behalf. You kids are the best! Buchanan This would work, you could have Wes, Fred, a psychotic slayer or two, and Spike with the show on UPN where there wouldn't be constant threat of cancellation like on the WB. Plus with this you can have Angel play the hero by giving up his life to save his crew in the finale while bringing down Wolfram and Hart.
Trachtenberg is out.

She has actual movie committments. She's been replaced by Tom Lenk, aka Andrew, in that episode. And the participation of Benz and Landau has not been confirmed. BTW, despite what Herc suggests about ME "misdirection," Gellar definitely will not be appearing in the Angel finale, and it's rumored to be because she asked for waaaaay too much money, which the show just doesn't have. She's a greedy little thing, what with her appetite for expensive blowfish and all.

George Clooney is a much bigger star than Mrs. Prinze will ever be and he showed loyalty to the show that made him a megastar when he came back for Juliana Margulies's last episode. It sure seems like SMG doesn't give a rip about her fans. Scooby Do is total shite and every time I see her pipe hitting face and body on a magazine cover, I want to call Sally Struthers and sponser her. Yes for only .74 a day you can ensure that little Sarah gets one nutritional meal each day. Less crack, more food please Sarah. Eat a banana or a peanut butter sandwich or something.
Why's everyone hatin' on SMG?

She can hardly be blamed for wanting to get away from the Buffy role. Seven years playing a genre role is more than enough. as a young actress in Hollywood she's trying to find new challenges and stretch. Actors and actresses love playing new roles. They like the paycheck of continuing series, but mostly they'd rather be doing something new. I also agree with the idea that I don't think she adds anything to the series finale. Im glad she wont be there - but not because I'm hatin' on her.
Replace her.

I used to be a huge fan of SMG's work, but I still don't doubt that there's a number of undiscovered, talented actresses that would be perfect to replace her. Let's face it SMG is only as good as the writing. She was woefully miscat in "Cruel Intentions" (As was the equally inept Ryan Phillipe). I flet that Clair Danes was irreplaceable on "My So-Called Life" back in the day and it seems that after some backstage hemming and hawing (Much like SMG now) ABC decided that it wasn't worth saving the low-rated show after all. Don't get me wrong I'm not totally on ABC's side but in hindsight they should've replaced Danes, who only portrayed the character for 19 episodes anyway. Though SMG portrayed her character for a longer time, it IS all about the show, so Gellar should be replaced.

When a fan quotes a source it is typically best to make sure that any and all personal ideas, additions or thoughts on the subject be clearly marked. That is specifically why I am forced to call Whedon on his indirect (at least I hope) misleeding statement that follows the actual quote from Buchanan. At the end of Buchanan's statement this little tidbit seams to be an additional though, "This would work, you could have Wes, Fred, a psychotic slayer or two, and Spike with the show on UPN where there wouldn't be constant threat of cancellation like on the WB. Plus with this you can have Angel play the hero by giving up his life to save his crew in the finale while bringing down Wolfram and Hart." I have read the same post a time or two from sources outside of AICN, and it seams that part was in deed not found on those postings. Now, I am just as hopeful for a continuing saga in the JOSSVERCE as I am sure the rest of you are. I am concerened that ME doesnt simply ride its name and reputation for great programing for the sake of ratings, much like formerly beloved STAR TREK. Its not an original idea of mine butI would love to see perhaps a show set up around FRAY with a still undead and undying Spike and Illyria. (these would be the only possible characters to be alive long enough to encounter Fray in the future.) once again not trying to make anyone out to be a villain, just wanted to make sure that everyone understood that Whedons conjecture was his own and not Buchanan's. PS if this didnt make any sense, sorry I am on too many prescription drugs. Later, biggwill

Unless she had some pivotal, interesting part to play in the finale, they shouldn't bother. Anyone remember Angel's cameo in the final Buffy? What a waste! He was there for a brief second, and did absolutely nothing to advance the story. It was something like, Angel: "Need any help?" Buffy: "No". And that was it. I'm a big fan of Joss Whedon, I think his writing is some of the best on Television, but I can't figure what he was thinking. I read David Boreanaz didn't really want to make the appearance, but did it as a favor to Sarah Michelle Gellar. He should have went with his gut.
Moving on.

And happy about it. Ready to concentrate on the last six episodes. Hope they all are very exciting. Focus on what you have and enjoy the ride. Looking forward to the series finale. Cannot wait to see how they wrap it up.
