Mel's drivel of dogmatic dumbness has gone on long enough. Time to crucify Jesus with the only thing that matters anymore. The dollar. DOTD owns this weekend you silly dicks!
Able Edwards = Worst Movie Ever?

holy cow did that movie suck. I've never seen such a blatant lifting of whole chunks of Ciz Kane outside of a Simpsons parody. Yes, the movie begins with a whole newsreel segment showing Able Edwards life, followed by different people testifying about their relationship with the deceased Able Edwards. Sound familiar? I wish the writer had stolen even more from Kane, maybe a shot for shot remake, or at least stolen the methods Welles used for making the title character actually likable. Able Edwards is completely unlikable. He is so condescending and arrogant throughout that it is impossible to care about him.

I bought "Azumi" on DVD some time ago but still want to watch it at Arbor, which is just 20 minutes from my dorm. To see it in all its glory on the big screen... *drool* I also saw "Aragami" two nights ago. Awesome movie! Kitamura is truly one awesome director.

-I posted this on the last Hellbooy Hotsheet, and it was pushed to archive the next day, but I thought you should know...-I haven't read the comic book, so I can't compare that. The overall look of the movie was good - but face it, the story was very run-of-the-mill. The final two reels had a very video game vibe - go to this room, stop those bad guys, cross this bridge before it collapses, face more bad guys in the next room...*YAWN.* Again it LOOKED good - but the story was really lacking, and so I give a NOT RECOMMENDED overall. -my (rebroadcast)first talkback. Whee.

versus was one of my favorites when it came out as well. If he ever learns to pace his films a bit meaner and leaner he'll be a force to reckon with. Thats my only complaint so far. Just trim the fat a wee bit. M

Without sounding the gushings of a total fanboy - I saw Azumi last weekend and it's seriously one of my top five favorite movies EVER. I just completely fell in love with it. As much as I liked Versus, I think Azumi just owns it. I loved how long it was and it has three or four of the greatest shots ever captured on film. My favorite is probably after the murder in the wheat field, when the villain-in-white slowly slides into the frame with the most evil look in cinematic history on his face. The movie is a sheer joy to behold.

She swings that sword like my ten-year old nephew. That's my only complaint. Guess the actress didn't get enough practice. But I loved the movie. In fact, I bought the DVD even if it had no English subtitles!

I think that, for a Japanese pop star/teen idol, she's pretty darn convincing, regardless of her swordplay skills.
