I was first. No large breasted half naked women threw themselves at my feet. There was no ticket tape parade in my honor. Furry woodland animals did not frolic around me to insipid Phil Collins songs. What's the point? Where's the thrill? I don't get it. I'm going back to bed.

For the love of God, PLEASE stop writing plays in pidgin. I beg you. "Little Red Riding Hood" does not become new and interesting just because it's set in pidgin - and the same goes for Cinderella, stories about growing up on a farm, murder mysteries, looks back at high school days, people in Longs, etc. I've seen so may dreadful plays in Honolulu, and read so many truly horrible stories and poems published in the Bamboo and Manoa press (or whoever publishes that garbage written by University of Hawaii faculty and students) where pidgin was used as a gimmick to mask the bad writing/story underneath. Please, please stop. I can't stomach it anymore. And I am not some racist "Haole" from the mainland ragging on precious "local" talent (or lack thereof, actually). I am of local Hawaiian-mixed ancestry and went to public school all my life. My friends and I always speak pidgin. But that doesn't automatically make me a poet or a playwright - you have to have talent outside of merely speaking pidgin. I am just tired of pidgin being used as a crutch by people with no real talent and who can't come up with anything original. Plays and orignal written works in Hawaii have been ruined by this fad. Please stop. Thank you. Hele ou kou ao mai i ka olelo Hawaii. Not pidgin.

You should have checked out Finding Alicia MacKenzie on Friday when they finally got the projector bright enough, the lighting still wouldn't be brilliant, but at least you could see it. But thanks for my first mention on this sight. You made my night. -Ches
