Please. Sly. Listen. You must stop this. You're the only one who can. You must prevent more of your horrible movie ideas from being made. Strap yourself to a wall, lock yourself in a closet, kill yourself, whatever it takes. It's your chance to be a hero. Kill yourself. Do it for the kids, or at least for Michael Jackson. Do it for Michael. Oooo! Kill him too, that's be nice.

Claire Danes was good in T3--but shouldn't have been in T3. Had to make it a teen flick. Had to make it a chick flick. So revamp the Rambo franchise. Rambo can be a girl. Stallone can have a daughter he never knew he had. And maybe she can fight vampires. Yeah! Ooooohh, it's going to be good!

Why can't you people see Rambo, now in his 50's with legendary status leading a team against terrorists? After Stallone directs his Tupac and Biggie movie and people see how brilliant he is as a director again (Rocky II-IV), Hollywood will kiss his ass again!!! Oh yeah, RAMBO IV will KICK much ASS. http://www.PetitionOnline.com/ zachary/petition.html

As much as I'd like to see a new Rambo movie, I detest the idea of flashbacks to 'Nam. Who the hell wants to see a young Rambo anyway? No, we just want Stallone. Have Brian Dennehy come back as the leader of some neo-fascist militia out west with a heinous plot of destruction for the United States. Send Rambo in to demolish them. The Sheriff vs Rambo again. Full circle. You know you want it.

That's a damn good idea. Richard Crenna is dead unfortunately, so you could have a reformed Brian Dennehy as a good guy sidekick to Rambo in a domestic crisis of some sort. Or you could ditch the US neo nazis theme and have Brian Dennehy call Rambo to help with another survivalist gone apeshit in his town. Sorta like THE HUNTED meets FIRST BLOOD. In other words, Rambo would be tracking another Rambo, he has met his equal. Maybe have the Rock or someone like that play a bigger, more dangerous adversary. No matter what they do Brian Dennehy MUST be in it.

Rocky instead. I'd love to see Rocky growing up and being trained by Mickey. How everything went downhill for him and how he ended up working for the mob. That would be a better story. Taking Rambo back to Vietnam sounds great but it'll just be an empty action flick to relaunch the Rambo franchise. I'd rather have filmakers use their brains for once and come up with a whole different character who will embody the action hero title for the millenium.

Vietnam is a cliche now, movie-wise. Ditch it. If it's Gulf War related or something like that, it would eb much more interesting. Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq, anything but Vietnam pls.

RAMBO is a household name, people will see it no matter who's in it. You're not gonna find a "name" actor who looks even a little like Stallone. The only films that managed to pull off that feat were River Phoenix as young Harrison Ford in LAST CRUSADE, Ewan MacGregor as young Obi-Wan Kenobi. But, look at the kid who played young Bruce Willis in UNBREAKABLE. The kid looked exactly like him. Granted, he wasn't carrying the film. But, they should just find some unknown kid who looks like Stallone, and hire some "name" actors to play the baddies, and a young Colonel Trautman.
I just don't understand why Stallone doesn't do RAMBO 4 himself

If a 56-year-old Arnie can do T3, a 50-something Pierce Brosnan can do Bond, etc., I don't see why Stallone would be considered as too old for another RAMBO. It's not as though audiences would have to buy him as the world heavyweight boxing champ, KO'ing athletes in their early 20s. All he'd have to do is carry a gun and perform a couple of fancy moves, jumps and rolls while shooting people.
Still, wasn't ROCKY VI all scripted and ready to go a while back
by Shanghai Nicky

The premise being that Rocky Balboa would train a young fighter or make a comeback for a charity boxing match? With the 30th anniversary of ROCKY coming up in 2006, it would be nice to have ROCKY VI coming out then. Still, last I heard was that MGM didn't want to put up the money. (Why not, though? Surely another ROCKY would be pretty cheap, really.) In the meantime, Sly should get in shape for doing ROCKY VI by doing RAMBO IV. Why not? Why the FUCK not? I mean, what exactly does he have to lose at this point? He's had dud after dud, flop after flop, and today's young'uns are probably quite justifiably wondering why this old man who stars in direct-to-video dreck is considered some kind of huge star. He makes movies like GET CARTER and DRIVEN, so it's not as though he's retired from the action game and wants to just do regional theater or something. How hard would it be to get a RAMBO IV script together? RAMBO: "I'm not going back to Vietnam. My war's over." SOMEONE ELSE: "But... but, it's your son, Rambo. The son you never knew you had." CUT TO: Rambo helping to rescue Rick Yune (or someone) from heroin dealers in Thailand (or something or somewhere). Or maybe a U.S.-set action thriller along the lines of FIRST BLOOD? How hard would that be? What else is Sly gonna get a huge paycheck for these days? He could also do a ROCKY prequel for TV, writing and/or executive producing, showing us the young Rocky's teenage years, his introduction to boxing, being taken under the wing of local mobster Gazzo, doing time in juvenile hall, standing up to his violent father, meeting Paulie and Adrian, getting serious about his fighting.... As well as all that, Sly should lobby for a part that'll increase his "coolness" factor. He almost got the De Niro role in JACKIE BROWN, and that would have been great. He should get himself a recurring role in THE SOPRANOS. I'm serious. Something like the Ralphie Aprile character.
Hey, MyWord, great minds think alike!

Wouldn't it be cool for a ROCKY prequel (which could be a TV movie, miniseries, or a full-blown theatrical feature... hmmm, 30th anniversary coming up) to focus not just on the teenage and twentysomething Balboa, but also deal with the rise to stardom of Apollo Creed, the cocky kid from L.A. who becomes an Ali-style superhero and hero of the African American community? And he's worshipped by Balboa, too. (We got a few hints of this in the first ROCKY.) This time, we'd SEE the young Rocky putting an Apollo Creed poster on his wall, rushing to catch Creed's latest fight on TV, jostling to see the screen in the dive bar packed with "bums" who never "took a shot". Oh my God, I'm geeking out at the thought of it! On to Brian Dennehy - yes, he was one of the best things about FIRST BLOOD, and the really cool thing was that the Sheriff Teasle character WASN'T an evil, black-hatted villain, but a fairly sympathetic character who's actually a good man just doing his job, but doing it overzealously (the Jack Starrett character, who tortures Rambo without Teasle's knowledge, now THERE's a son of a bitch). In Stallone, Dennehy and Richard Crenna, you had three lead roles PERFECTLY cast and PERFECTLY played. BTW, I gather that Sly was also considered for the role of Butch in PULP FICTION.

....and as a huge Sopranos junkie who owns all the box sets I should hang my head in shame. But don't you think Sly would be great for THE SOPRANOS? (Heck, they got Burt Young for an episode...) Should the show get a few famous guest stars in? Sly, De Niro, Ray Liotta, Keitel, even Pacino? Or would that be a lame idea?

"NOTHING IS OVER!!" Apparently, including this franchise. "I Was a Teenage Rambo"? Anyway, anyone remember Scott Valentine, the guy that used to play Mallory Keaton's boyfriend, Nick, on "Family Ties"? When that show was on the air, I always thought that "that" guy looked EXACTLY like a young Stallone. What's he doing nowadays? Hell, even he's probably too old at this point.

Uhm, how can there be a Rambo IV? At the end of Rambo III, he was the hero of the Taliban. The only place this franchise could logically go would be if The Rock were to halo into Afghanistan and kill Rambo for being a partisan to the 9/11 terrorists.

Young Rambo is all wrong. The character is no longer relevant, and the film should address this fact. I would rather see a film closer to the style of something like Bronson's 'The Mechanic'- with the older Rambo sensing a kindred spirit and attempting to help him. Instead of just casting a 'young Rambo', why not a 'young Danforth'- or someone that John feels he has already failed to save once? Of course, no one wants another Rocky V, so at some point things must (inevitably) go badly- with the older, outmatched Rambo forced to battle his demons once again.

I still remember all you cocksuckers kissing his ass when he was on his prime and now you see a fag like Diesel and all of a sudden you disrespect him. I agree that Stallone can now concentrate on action movies like Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood used to make. You bastards obviously did not see him on that Monday Night Football presentation...he is still in shape (looked better than the Governator). Rambo 4 can still be made like the original First Blood. Sly is so cool that he was in porn once and that's something you fucking geeks dream about doing.

I agree with you entirely. Sly has more star quality in his left bicep than crappy, charmless pretenders like Vin Diesel and The Rock. AND more talent: he was nominated for Best Actor AND Best Screenplay for ROCKY, has written and directed on numerous occasions, and gives TOWERING performances in the likes of ROCKY, FIRST BLOOD and GET CARTER. In COP LAND, he blows De Niro, Keitel and Liotta off the screen. There is NO reason why he couldn't do RAMBO IV, and NO reason why he shouldn't. Who would begrudge him one last throw of the dice with Rambo, given that Arnie did T3 and Willis is apparently going to make DIE HARD 4? Yo, Sly, you gotta do it! You're an action hero! You can't just turn it off like some goddam radio!

Who cares that the last one was made in 1988. This just shows how much Sly's career has slipped, if he 's desperate enough to think THIS has any chance of helping him make a comeback. "Gee, my fans loved the Rambo series--YEARS AGO, but we'll ignore that--let's make another!" ONLY Indy IV has a marginal chance of being a success. Neither this awful idea or a Diehard 4 does.

Stallone has given us two iconic characters in Rocky and Rambo and I am pretty sure that even our kids will know who these two characters are. Not many actors today can claim to have done that...only a few like Clint Eastwood with Dirty Harry, Arnie with The Terminator, Mel Gibson with Mad max. Shit!, I don't even think that Tom Cruise has an iconic character and he's supposed to be the biggest of them all. These people are so quick to knock a guy down and forget what he has acomplished. You're right Nicky, Copland is an amazing movie and forgotten by the academy.
