I'm laughing, but it's a very nervous, looking-over-my-shoulder kind of laugh. If this were true, it would indeed be the most horrid piece of casting in cinema history. I grew up with the Tintin graphic novels and they were a huge influence on me. I love them to death. There's only one viable movie Tintin today and that's Jude Law. Think about it.

For a start, isn't Tintin regularly called a Boy Reporter? Indicating, you know, some measure of youth? Unless this is going to be Tintin: 20 years later, Van Damme falls at that hurdle. But that doesn't matter, cause he also falls at every other damn hurdle along the way. With the possible exception of the one which says, sotto voce, "might not be a bad plan if the actor liked Tintin or had something in common with him". Doc, I see where you're going with Jude Law, but I don't see it happening. I think we're looking at teen actor types, and probably some cat none of us boys and girls have ever heard of. Assuming this ever gets through development, which I am not going to put money on.

Alas, Heleno, I think you're right -- both about the casting and the microscopic chance of this film ever seeing the light of day. Still, they have made Asterix movies....

What, is Van Damme going to be Hercule Poirit next? Also, if you follow that line, why has Sean Connery played an Irish cop (untouchables), a Rooshun submarine commander and best of all an Egyptian (highlander) always with the same bleeding accent? And don't get me started on John Tuturro and Anthony Quinn who can play mexican / greek /egyptian so well. I don't know what I'm saying, time for my medication.... PS I finally saw "dark city", great film! I just also wanted to say that my favourite bit of AICN is not the reviews (interesting though they are), it's the slagging that Harry, Moriarty and Quint et al get all the time, don't give 'em an inch!

I mean... A bunch of fanatical Van Damme fans have GOT to be right! Right? Have a read of a few of the msgs on the boards... Those people disturb me. For one thing, they seem to come from some sort of parallel universe where Van Damme was 'at the top'. ;o)

Do I need to see THIRTEEN to get it? Knowing the plot, I don't see how "zen chickens" figure into it. Then again, if the zen chicken is played by Keira Knightley, then the banner is fine by me. Ah, Keira Knightley- making bestiality cool again.

Shouldn't a TInTin movie be in French? It has a certain Europena sense that may be lost in ou big tits, big guns, small penises Noth american universe. People have to know their limits.

Spielberg better stay away from Tintin, after he ruined two potentially great movies in AI and Minority Report. Please Hollywood, no more ass-raping what was once good and pure!

Will Smith in I'Robot, that that awful cat woman costume (Toyah Wilcox meets alt.binaries.bondage), snow white kung fu (why not a Disney porno) and now this .....the only possible worse scenario would be if Mel Gibson had done a redneck Jesus movie with product placement and a tag line "he kicked arab ass and died a kickin'".

Jeunet to direct Dicaprio as Tintin (trust me - I despise Titanic. Love Tintin - good far outweighs the bad. Captain Haddock - Robert De Niro Calculus - Geoffery Rush Thompson Twins - Hoskins on slim shakes Snowy - ?? Two films - seven Crystal Balls followed by Temple of the Sun... If this lands on anyones lap - it would absolutely rule on the screen!! Big Andean back drops etc...
