THE SIMPSONS is still funny now and then, but it has taken a sharp turn downwards as of late. All the live-action sitcoms are generic and uninspired, and the dramas are now just ripping one another off. As for the late night shows, Letterman is still good, his show on Friday, with Simon and Garfunkel was great. Leno and Kilborn are awful; Jimmy Kimmel is decent, but mostly only half as funny as Conan. Broadcast TV is okay... FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!!!!!!

Conan only did the Laughing Genie once unless I missed him doing it a second time but it was genius. And Little Jay Leno kicks Big Jay Leno's butt every time. Little Jay Leno rules late night and if NBC had any guts they'd replace Big Jay Leno with Little Jay Leno.

norm macdonald came on conan and made fun of the carrot top movie, chairman of the board, saying it's spelled "chairman of the bored". it actually was the original title to the carrot top movie, but after that burn, they had to change the spelling. oh that's good. and they retired pimpbot at the last 5th anniversary special, which is sad.

Was when Conan says he wants to thank three people who were very important to him and the show through all the years, then John Tesh, Abe Vigoda, and William Shatner ride out on stage on a bicycle built for three! The whole entire show was so funny that I for the first time in my life literally had tears running down my face from laughing so hard!

I think it was back in March of '98(I have it taped somewhere), anyway it was a skit where they returned from a commercial and Conan introduced his brother, who was coming to see the show for the first and had been in hiding for several years. Then BAM! all these Federal Agents flood the stage and it's reveleaded by Andy that the show's creation and run was all an elaborate scheme to catch Conan's brother. Great stuff. As was almost anything with Miss Amy Poehler, who is very nice.......for me to poop on!!!

Does anybody have the Max/Andy/Conan Shootout. I remember when that was on and near pissed myself laughing. Max on Max was pretty funny just on the times Conan Showed it and showed it and showed it involved Max making love to himself missionary position. I miss Andy I hope hes there tonight. Triumph best sketch was the Star Wars Episode 2 line especially when "The Pissed off Vulcan" Came in and gave everybody the finger" Recent sketch would be "Conan O'Brien The Movie Trailer" Starts with Triumph on a toilet crying out "I Cant Poop" then flashes to Masturbating Bear sitting on the edge of a bed with a hot human chick and the chick is comforting him saying it happens all the time. Year 2000 and Staring Contests are great. Cameltoe Annie everybody has had dreams of her once or twice. Coked up Werewolf if you dont laugh when he comes out you have no sense of humour. I miss Pimpbot "My Software is free of glitches and my Stable is full of bitches" " Andy My Man I gots a deal this week on chicks with dicks half price my freaky brotha ha ha yous freakier then Eddie Murphy" ok ok one more Pimpbot saying " Im Fine Conan but I dont know how to get this mustard stain out of my fly suit it seems to happen everytime I break in some talent on the floor of a burger king washroom Andy:Just use some Bleach and cleaner Pimpbot:Thanks again my freakiest customer there be some bitches in your dressing room

are the ones where he goes on a field trip. Like when he goes to help a writer decorate his pad, or goes to bartending school, checks out the blizzard, hangs out with people waiting in line for the show. That is where the real Conan comedy is. He is so underrated when it comes to dealing with people. The best bit he ever did was go to Texas to get people to watch his show despite the 230 am time slot. He is just brilliant at coming up with the most hilarious comment at just the right moment. A great improviser. I can't wait for this show to start!

Once again, I'm left confused by how a movie that in reality is maybe slightly above average gets praised as great. The "twist" is obvious well before end of the film (though not all the details). Good film, but not great and one could make many solid arguments about issues with the early pacing.

The best late night show is Letterman. Conan and Kimmel run a close 2nd. Leno does better then Letterman cause he is in CA and can get better guests. The greatest things that have ever happened on late night TV in the last 20 years have all happened on Letterman (except for Leno with Hugh Grant was on and Arnold announcing he was gonna run for Governor). Everything Leno does is a ripoff copy of Letterman. Conan and Kimmel are tied for 2nd. They have some pretty cool/funny stuff. Then Leno and at the bottom of the list is Kilburn. That fucker is so in love with himself it aint funny. He isnt hip and he isnt cool and thinks he is. He just comes across as a narcistic closet homo.

ok, first of all, you're right, Leno sucks. 2ndly Letterman is decent most of the time, but nowhere near as funny as Conan. Conan actually has wit and interacts well with his guests, he's the best late night improviser, and he's hands-down the one with the most broad appeal. If he were on earlier he'd dominate the other hosts.

The original Conan movie trailer with the hot Chick playing Max. Or when Conan and Joel went to the Springsteen concert. Or the desk driving trips. Or the time Conan decorated a couple's yard for Christmas with a giant rotating Conan head. Or Triumph's trips to the Westminster Dog Show. Max's The More You Know segment about why you don't have to wash your hands every time you pee. John Rocker flipping off EVERYONE. "IN THE YEAR TWO THOUSAND!!! I liked the one where Max was like "No hooker is gonna tell me what to do!" And does anyone else miss the guy with bulletproof legs? I nearly pissed my pants with that one for some reason. I loooove Conan. I find him strangely erotic. And I love when they used to bring Anna Nicole Smith out on the rolling couch. And I miss oh how I miss Andy's little sister. Sara Silverman's appearance a while ago is one of my favs ever. When she talked about the Fugian babies with diamonds on the bottom of their spines. Where does his greatness end?! The Masturbating Bear makes me feel dirty. Oh yeah and I too want to kick Paul Schaffer in the nutsack. Letterman sucks. Vive le Conan!

Well,Pimpbot WAS there!I'm surprised they didn't have that old street guy they've been using for military updates.I still watch Conan, depending on the guest he can be great.Letterman is ok,whereas Letterman is a cynical jerk sometimes,Leno is a complete kissass. And when is Leno going to stop using exaggerated accents everytime he has a British or Aussie guest on?"G'day,Hugh Jackman is on next, shrimp on the barbie!"Please! I hate Kilborn with a passion.Half his schtick is ripped from Letterman, the I'm more amusing than my guest attitude, and hugging the female guest for 10 minutes when they walk out.Kimmel and this whole "Manshow"type humor annoys me,but I have to admit he can be amusing sometimes, when he had all the football guys on recently(Bradshaw,Long, etc.)it was pretty funny. And one of my fave Conan moments was when he took over the voice for a guys' giant talking Santa on his front lawn and talked to the people out front"Santa is 9feet tall, and everything is anatomically in proportion..if ya know what I mean!"

That Conan interview with Norm

where he made fun of the carrot top movies was actually one of the funniest interviews I've seen. The first segment was pretty standard, and then Norm said something just weird and out of the blue, and when they came back everything was hilarious. What was great about the carrot top bit was he was making fun of carrot top just randomly, than the second guest came out and mentioned she was in a carrot top movie, where Norm took a couple shots at one liners making fun of her movie, "chairman of the b-o-r-e-d" being the topper. And Triumph at the Westminster yelling that one of the contestants is a bitch during the show tops even the SWII stuff for me.

Triump at the Star Wars Episode II line. Triump on Hollywood Squares. Best characters: Pimpbot, Cameltoe Annie, Man on Ice Toilet, Robot on Toilet, Preperation H Raymond, Masturbating Bear, Puking Kermit, the Man who is protected from 3 inch bees, and list goes on. Best channels: A-Hole Ronald (with Ronald McDonald knocking everybody's food from their hands while Nazerath's "Messing with a Son of a Bitch" is playing), Muppet Death, Peanut Suicide Channel, Men Without Hats channel, Not Cool Zeus Channel, etc. Best sketches: Max on Max, Max on Max with Joel watching, Andy getting shot by a hunter on accident, Conan shoving Andy naked into the Today show set, Ginger the gun toting dog, etc. There is so many funny sketches that they should release a DVD of all the funniest ones. That would be the ultimate. As for my favorite More You Know Max line? "Why do all romances have to end in a grisly death?" cue More You know music.
Carl "Oldie" Olsen-Olson-spelling?

I was surprised that they didn't have a tribute to Oldie Olsen - but when Conan did have to break the news of his death on the show, I remember it as being a somber, sincere, and as close to being heartfelt as I can believe on television moment. Conan still has the best show around, when they start releasing "best of" clip shows like with Johnny they're going to have to go through 10 or 20 volumes.
Ranking The Late Night Hosts
by Barron34
Sep 15th, 2003
06:06:12 PM
Conan is hands down the best of the current late night hosts. Letterman was great in his day, and really trail-blazed a lot of the post-Carson humor territory on TV, but Conan is just as funny as Letterman ever was, but he is self-effacing and likeable, rather than cynical like Dave, although Dave's inimitable, cynical style was great; a true original. I feel that Letterman did for late night TV what Saturday Day Live did for the variety/sketch show. He brought it into the post-60s era (soemwhat belatedly, in the 80s). Letterman was a true innovator, and hip as hell in his heyday. So, not to take anything away from Letterman. He's just been at this game for over 20 years now. I don't think that Conan could be doing the sort of absurd, off-the-wall stuff he does without Dave as a pre-cursor. Letterman's the Old King of late night as far as I am concerned, a real institution, but Conan is the Crown Prince, and in some ways the real successor to Johnny Carson. Letterman was a contrast to Carson, not a reflection. Carson's humor was smart, but Carson was always likeable. Dave was a real contrast to that: his humor was sharp, but it was dark and somewhat subversive and edgy. Letterman was not above alienating people or making others uncomfortable to be funny. And he was great at it. Letterman was really his own thing. Conan is more like Carson in that his show is brighter, more upbeat, and he is smart and likeable like Carson. His show is also styled in a retro manner that pays homage to the Golden Age of television. Conan's a real child of the old show business tradition, run through the blender with a hip, post-60s sensibility. Conan and his people are great. ******As far as the other hosts go: Leno is an utter hack/grind/celebrity kiss-ass/sell-out who does lowest common-denominator drek that is aimed at the low-brows of the most middling of America. That is why he gets the best ratings; his show is something the masses of dumb people like to help put them to sleep after the 11:00 0'clock news. Those idiots on the street that Leno interviews who can't answer basic history questions are the banal, stupid children of his banal, stupid viewers (O'Brien's audience, on the other hand, might actually have a degree in history, like Conan himself does). It is maybe a bit of a shame about Leno too, because he was actually a good comedian before he became Carson's lapdog. He could have been something other than dull but reliable hack who somehow inherited the Crown over his superior brother (Letterman). I honestly think that Leno inherited Carson's show because Leno was the unthreatening lackey, whereas as Letterman was a force unto himself, and was actually a peer and a colleague of Johnny's, and not his obsequeious (sp?) inferior like Leno. The Tonight Show went down the tubes when Carson passed it to him. It is now the Velveeta cheese of Late Night, no matter how good it's ratings are. Carson's talent skipped a generation; O'Brien is the true successor. **** And the dregs of the rest: Kilborn is a smug, unlikeable, narcissistic Neidermeyer fuck. I would forgive him of all of that if he were actually funny, but he very rarely is. I only watch his show to see the rare interesting guest he has on. Kilborn is a venial, shallow jerk. *****Kimmel, I don't know well enough to evaluate. He's seems an amiable enough guy, and perhaps somewhat smart and funny. The deck's really stacked against the guy, though. He obviously can not get guests. I think the format is killing him, too. Why not do something different than the sit-down talk-show? Maher's show was a comedy version of the political round-table. Why can't Kimmel do something different than the old sit-down talk show. It's an old form, and unless you really love it and can put a new tiwst on it, like Conan and his people do, don't try to imitate it or compete with it. Do your own thing, do a live version of Crank Yankers, mixed with T+A , or whatever else it is that Kimmel does (wasn't that the only reason to watch his old cable show? I really can't pay much attention to jokes when a half-naked girl is jumping up and down on my TV screen.) Why not just mix stuff up? Anyway, the format seems stale and Kimmel apparently can't get guests. I would say revamp and mix things up. But anyway, I don't know much about Kimmel's show: I am usually watching O"brien's show or hating Kilborn smarmy shit during Conan's commercial breaks. Good luck to Kimmel: I think it's a thankless task where he's at. Counter-program and do something different to distinguish yourself. Anyway, tha's make take on the others (then there's always Charlie Rose on PBS, if you are in the mood to think rather than laugh....). Those are my rambling thoughts on the Late Night scene. Barron out.

You have to admit it was just a little dissapointing. It's too bad they dedicated so much time for Will Farrel and Jack Black cameos (both of which were sadly unoriginal) man, even Conan was forcing himself to politely laugh along with them. But actually, I think Conan is going to retire soon. Max and Andy already have. Conan must know he can't keep doing this forever. And the show has been almost solid re-runs for the last month... think about it.

Maybe it's already be mentioned (can't be bothered to read previous redundancies/irrelevancies) but Conan's sense of humour is duller than Letterman on a bad day. I'm sick of the lame stupidity and can't believe he wasn't cancelled and quickly forgotten nine years ago. Get a new humour hero, you dry-heavin' cheese eaters.
