Here's the Utah Arm, a good choice for Romano because an actor who is not really an amputee can wear a glove that looks like the prothetic. http://www.utaharm.com/utaharm .htm

Well Annie, I read about that funny little arm....and quite frankly, it is pretty cool.....and now that I have satisfied the ONLY curiosity I had in watching "ER" this season.....I will now use the hour for semi-regular masturbation.....And thus, I need to re-stock the lube! - - - George, The 7th Chicken!!!!

NBC has so much money tied to this Must See Thursday line-up that they'll throw million of dollars into a program that is creatively dried and boring as watching Ann Coulter blame the democrates and the liberals for all the worlds problems. This is the problem with the 1 hour drama format of recent years. While it does take a load of money to start a show, sticking with a program that lost it's wheels 3 or 4 years ago is not logical. So because there has been less development of new dramas, NBC sticks with a show (like ABC's The Practice) that should've been sent to stud a long time ago. Critics have panned CBS for skewing towards older TV viewers, but has finally struck back with the CSI franchise and Without A Trace. If CBS stole a page from NBC, then Zucker must steal it back and find the next drama to replace ER (and it better not be another Law and Order series). Like Friends, I think they have nothing promising. That's why ER and Freinds are still on the air. It took until this year to find a replacement for Friends -and hey, it's a spin-off!!ER would be hard to spin-off, if only because there is not one appealing member of the cast to build a series around. So, will have to put up with one more season of ER, with it's pedantic soap opera story lines, Abby whining about something, Susan looking lost, Ramano -actually the best character on the show -becoming sillier and sillier and Carter never knowing what he wants out of life. Sounds like some people I know, but still. Networks have to realize that while the written word is more important that a guest shot by Sally Fields, you have to make appealing characters and stories that are intersting. ER has moved away from these type of stories and have made all the doctors look like assholes, even when they are trying to help someone. Stop pouring money -what is it, $13 million and episode -and try to usher in newer dramas. Make Must See TV interesting again. All it is right now, is a ghost of what it once was. But, I could be wrong...

I love the reruns of the earlier seasons of ER, but the show died with Greene. Since then its been the Abby Show. Neverending tales of her misery. I was actually excited when she joined the cast(Newsradio kicked ass). Like everyone says Romano is the only likable character left on the show, and he's supposed to be an ass. I think he's become so popular because he represents the audience's hatred for the rest of the cast.

i am sick and tired of abby... it's like she's the only character left worth focusing on (which she is not). carter, pratt, chen, susan, great characters whom have nothing to do every episode (except for carter). why just abby? like, it's not like we haven't seen her before or anything. retire the character or start focusing on other characters. it is getting monotenous now. sorry, again, i hate abby.
OK, so when's Sally Field coming back?

Nothing signals a shitty ER episode like the appearance of Sally Field. So let's take bets: when's Sally going to make her first appearance? ER 10.4? 10.5? We know it's going to be during sweeps, but the way NBC packs in the reruns, sweeps has no correlation to episode number. ER 10.6, maybe? And how many total episodes will feature Sally Field? With the November, February, and May sweeps periods, will ER be able to squeeze in 12 episodes with the Oscar winner no one really, really likes? 4 words: Kill this show now.

Who FUCKING cares? Just like the rest of the middle of the road mindless tripe that straddles the airwaves. Probably worse. At least Star Trek had the decency to leave the air while it was still a viable product. The network hacks at NBC will of course keep trying to beat money out of this pinata until the stick breaks. Not to be a realist or anything, but for a "creatively dead" piece of crap show, it still usually lands in the top-5 of the weekly Nielsen ratings. I guess I understand the motivation in keeping it around. Hell, I haven't really watched it since they knifed off Kellie Martin (I know, she's a pretty mediocre actress and had squat to do on the show, but for some reason she does it for me - maybe because she reminds me of the retard next door's little sister who I always wanted to bang)
YAY! Abby abusing patients!

Oh god, what a great idea! A five year old with a head trauma needs treatment, but Abby, mad about her love life, stabs him in the head with a needle! An elderly diabetic is admitted, but hearing that her old boyfriend has a new socialite date for the evening compels Abby to crush the man's vertibrae in her teeth! She proceeds to wound or mame every other patient in the ER until this becomes the new theme of the show! No longer a show about an inner city Emergency Room, ER is now about a psychotic nurse torturing every unfortunate bastard who checks in during her shift! Perfect! I'm so glad they did this because I didn't think they'd done enough to reverse all the praise they got for brining in Maura Tierney once upon a time...

"Sweeps" is the time that networks trot out the "best episodes" of whatever shows they have on during the season. Also a chance for them to kill off anything worthwhile to put another reality show in it's place.

I think it was when they brought in Alan Alda as the alzheimer's doctor. The last truly great episode was the valentine's day ep in 2000 where Lucy and Carter got stabbed. Abby is a character I've never warmed to like Hathaway.

A little more info - there are three weeks during the year that are analyzed to set advertising rates based on audience ratings. These are called "sweeps weeks" and everyone does their best to artificially raise their ratings by showing new episodes and doing their most sensational plots/ "news" stories. So, they're not representative of the usual ratings, but they're treated as if they are. Go figure.

There's not a single likable person left on the show, because it appears that no one on the show likes each other. In its heyday, I watched because I liked the Ross/Greene dynamic; they actually DID like each other and their conflicting personalities made things interesting. And the romantic sparks between Ross and Hathaway were genuine. Not one romance on the show since they left seems real. Abby/Susan and Carter/Luka are together cuz they're about the same age and single, not cuz they like each other much. Not a genuine emotional attachment evident anywhere. I've taken to begging the missus to turn this show off, but she's a die-hard, so I continue to suffer.

locar, the actress from BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM that's joining the "e.r" cast is Parminder Nagra, not AICN's fan-boy fave Keira Knightley. Never fear---Looks as though you'll all get your daily fix of Ms. K as long as Mr. Knowles keeps that ad up on the site!
