This looks so fantastic. Every time I see Eric Bana's face, the more and more scenes we're getting to see like in commercials and specials (that MTV one), he's breaking my heart already. And then the Hulk's! Oh gosh, my heart. I cannot wait to see this. I think it's going to be beautiful. Thank you for the review! I did read the "Hollywood Reporter" and it made me soo squeal! I loved it!

I really can't see the Hulk being labeled as a second tier character. Daredevil, Ironman, Ghost Rider....those are second tier characters. I'd even venture so far as to say that outside of Spidey and those ever-mighty X mutants, The Hulk is marvel's biggest property. Other than this small criticism, I think that was an awesome review.

I have to admit, Hulk might not have a greatest rogues gallery, but there are those with far worse, for instance Batman with the likes of the Penguin and Egghead. Doc Samson is more of a side-kick than an enemy and the Leader lost his impact years ago. Oh and by the way, there is no doubt that the Hulk is a first tier Marvel character.

This movie sounds like crap. Crusher Creel is the God-Damned Absorbing man, not Prick Nolte. As for "I'm a movie goer, not a comic reader" Screw you! People like you are killing this genre. Just call it 'My Son, The Monster' and nobody would complain. Ang Lee SUCKS. Read his interviews in Wizard and see what an arogant jerk he is. Or go to www.thenickatoms.com and read his statement about the Hulk. I just want a comic book movie that's actually about the comic book, that's all. It would be an original film if a diretor followed the comic for once in cinema history.

Maybe it's just the way they timed it, but it sure seems in the last couple of days, since I've heard about the "workprint" in all ares of the media (internet, print media, radio, television), that they've cranked up the marketing. I've seen a lot more commercials, and they all seem to feature a lot more actual Hulk footage. The MTV thing had a lot in it too. (from what I saw, I missed the first half). The animator putting Hulk through calasthenics was classic though, and he had a pair of Hulk hands at his desk! which reminds me, sure seems like those toys hit the stores waaaaaayyyyy before the premiere date. Anyway, I've got my fingers crossed for this one.

The Dad being the Absorbing Man still doesn't sit well with me, but I'm willing to overlook it. The CGI is starting to grow on me, after seeing so much of it from commericals and trailers. In the sequel, ya gotta get more sci-fi oriented and bring on Da Leader, and have him throw all kinds of robots and crap at Banner in his untimely efforts to destroy and/or harness his Hulk power.

Talkbackers who love this lame crap, please let me know how this is ok: THE HULK IS KILLING F'IN UNITED STATES SERVICEMEN! How is this acceptable? How is any situation in filmdom o.k. where the average grunt is thrown 3000 yards away in a tank surely to be crushed on impact? I mean, we as the audience "know" that the hulk is good and the government is evil, but freakin come on!

To answer both your questions I shall answer as I have been very fortunate to see this excellent film.... First the pants question....hulk apeears 4 times 1st hes smaller and banners pants are ripped (like the tv eps). 2nd time hes a lot bigger and his pants are just staying on then he has the scrap with the hulk dogs and in the scuffle (as well as hulking out!) he loses them completely (its done tastfully!)3rd and 4th time banner is captured and is put into stretchy pants (the ones you see in the trailers)..so now you know! Now onto the killing of servicemen...the hulk kills no servicemen AT ALL! Except by accident in one brilliant scene which I just cant spoil it for you!!! Yes you see him swing the tank, yes the men are in it but at the end of the sequence you get a long shot of the men getting out of the busted tank.Hulk tries his best to avoid killing in all the mayhem...sometimes really funnily (shaking a tanks turret like a wallet until the soldiers drop out like loose change) Hulk is like a infant child in the movie...he just wants to be left alone.

Hypothetically, if this movie had no fan base before its release, you guys would go fucking nuts over this thing. Every time a new MARVEL movie was unleashed upon the public, people would retreat back to their computers and make snide remarks about how the film didn't live up to your expectations, citing 'Hulk' as the best "superhero" flick. Seriously, don't sit here and tell me the Hulk was "shit" because there was barely any "protagonist characterization." Because you're anticipating The Movie, you're not enjoying the movie. Does it have flaws? Undoubtedly. Lack of characterization is a fairly blatant one. But you're standards are whacked if you think this film is "gonna suck."

Matrix Revolutions MOVIE ON THE NET!!!!
by zerohourx
Jun 14th, 2003
01:51:44 AM
I folks...just dloaded the Matrix Revolutions Workprint and just to let you know... Neo's phone call in the Matrix is at THE END of Revolutions! Notice the facts from Matrix: The original Matrix starts with Trinity and Cypher talking, the screen shows "Trace Program" and the date "2-18-98". The movie ends with Neo making a phone call, the trace program is initiated and the date reads "9-18-99"... 19 months have passed! If you watch the movie again, you'll see that the time sequence implies that they found Neo shortly after that initial conversation (a few months after 2-18-98 at most). Significant? Yes; Reloaded and Revolutions (which we know occur one after another), take place between 2-18-98 and 9-18-99. Here's why: Only a few months could have passed from the time Morpheus and the crew 'free' Neo to the time Neo is killed and revived in the hallway. Why? for one, Neo's hair barely grows in that time and that's not a trivial observation (it's also obvious that Neo grew out his hair in Reloaded which occurs roughly 6 months after he's unplugged). In Reloaded, Neo says that "I wish I knew what I was supposed to do". The phone call scene in the Matrix, Neo is very sure of what he is supposed to do, "I'm going to hang up this phone and show these people what you don't want them to see... a world without you, without controls and boundries". Why would he have forgotten what to do between M1 and M2? he didn't, that last scene in M1 occurs after Revolutions! Finally, at the end of M1, Neo states that "I can feel you now, you are scared". At the end of Reloaded he says, "Something is different, I can FEEL them now". There is no MWAM, they don't destroy the Matrix because they can't unplug everyone at once and we see Neo make that very same phone call at the end of Revolutions!

The Matrix Reloaded is good after your initial viewing because your expectations are no longer a problem. You take it for what it is which is pretty good, not a masterpiece, just fun. The same with X2. But I have to say that Daddy Day Care lived up to all my expectations and I LOVED IT!!! Yeah, baby!!! I can't wait for the extended DVD. I've seen the testprint, and I'm not bitching about anything in the film other than this Aussie who is playing the lead. This guy is TERRIBLE, I mean really, really bad guys. I can't believe I'm the only one who sees this. He's not Hayden Christensen bad, but BAD nonetheless. The rest of the film was pretty entertaining. Ang Lee and his camerman and editor, really give the film a unique visual look. Plus, you can't go wrong when you have a psychotic french poodle in a film. I think it was Kubrick who said that...lol

I just bought a copy of the hulk last nite from my local blackbeard pirate videos in not so sunny belfast ireland(up the tiocs!!!!), and I have 2 say that i thought it was very good, some parts not so good (bit with the killer dogs was somewhat surreal even 4 a comic book film)but overall excellent.I like what ang lee's done with the hulk and the carnage scenes at the end were excellent even though i watched the unfinished version, which needed some touching up in terms of CG.Simply put i enjoyed it more than spiderman, thought it was a more mature film and the hulk most definitely pisses all over daredevil. I look forward 2 seeing the finished version in the cinema and will gladly hand over my hard earned cash to watch it again.

An open letter to anyone who has seen the actual theactrical release of Hulk...during the scene in which Banner says "You're makin' me angry" for he first time, I'm holding fast to my "it's just gotta be true" theory that the effects in the workprint version I saw were...shall we say, incomplete. I saw Crouching Tiger, and I just can't believe Ang Lee would say to his DOP, "Just rock the camera back and forth against that wall over there...we'll throw in Bana later." Other than that, I think all you guys bashing the CGI are just impossible to please. Someone at one point suggested that "ILM should be sued" for doing such a bad job. Well, I have 2 answers to that: The first, if I may paraphrase Bart Simpson here, "WHat are you talking about? They've given you countless hours of entertainment for next to nothing; if anything, YOU owe THEM", and the second, what have you done in your life that's so monumental that you can criticize someone else for realizinf a vision differently that you would have? Besides, take another look at Hulkie...the work on the creature really is amazing. That scene where Nolte puts his hand on his son's face, or when Hulk lifts Betty on top of her car (to save her from Cujle the Poodle)...I was completely convinced he was a living, breathing thing. I guess the only criticism I would share is that Banner's inciting incident was so drawn out that I didn't really feel the pressure he was under, and maybe, and this is gonna sound stupid, his going apesh!t and becoming the hulk was him overreacting a little bit. It's not like he was backed into a corner and had to fend for his life; he was having a little trouble at work. (I wish my biggest problem at work was some dude trying to pay me 10 times my salary to get my job done faster, but I guess we all look at things in different ways.) At any rate, I've seen the workprint and was impressed; now I can't wait to get in line and see it at the Theatre. Now that I know what I'm in store for, my cash won't be wasted.
