I think it's funny that Chamberlain, star of the mini-series "Shogun", is coming out of the closet just as another suspected gay leading man is about to appear in a similar film: Tom Cruise in "The Last Samurai". Will Tom wait until he's in his sixties until he admits he loves the cock?

And look at the shit-hand that show got. What, not even 3 full episodes and FOX dumped it? I too like the Brits, not sure why, but I do. I am not talking sexually, but the accents intrigued me. Anyway, as I was saying, I liked the show 'The American Embassy' or whatever it was called, and 'Keen Eddie' looks to have the same feeling as the other show did. Knowing FOX well enough by now, I really don't think it will last too long on the network. It's sad that the show will most likely be replaced with another damned reality show with money hungry sluts and narrow minded jerk-offs. Let's face it, we're doomed to be a society of assholes no matter how hard those few of us with taste try.

However, with American Embassy, it was placed as a midseason replacement in April of 2002, then FOX showed four episodes and killed it. I heard they decided not to show the two-hour final episode, which could have given us some closure, but I guess FOX thought The Wedding Singer would get better ratings. I kind of liked the idea of a six hour series, then end it as a self-contained story/series. Kind of like the way some British shows show for one season, tell their story, and get off the air so we don't have to invest a potential four to nine years (ER?). At least in summer, Keen Eddie will have less competition. I've lost all hope FOX will either rerun The American Embassy and give us the final episode, or release it for the home market.
Right, let's take the piss out of Keen Eddie:

Some poncy git hops across the pond and gets into rows with tossers at Scotland Yard and some stroppy flatmate with shapely knockers. Brilliant. Once again, Fox has gone pear-shaped for the summer. Bet this lasts a fortnight at most. Cheers.

It's a sure sign that the reviewer is a pompous elitist who's disgusted that he has to wait all summer for new episodes of Masterpiece Theater. As for the show, it looks like typical summer filler. It'll finish off in September and then be replaced by the reality series du jour.

So, I'm flipping thru channels last night, and turned to the TVGuide channel. There's a pic of Tim Burton and Lisa Marie on screen. Never one to pass up an opportunity to look at Lisa, I stopped and heard the following rumor that Tim Burton is in negotiations with the Dahl Family to do for the Classic tale of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (Which was made into the classic Gene wilder "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory), what he did for another classic film "Planet of the Apes". Apparently the Dahl family has final say on who helms this remake, but Burton is their first choice, and he's gung ho to get started. Now, I'm a fan of Burton's work. Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands are all-time classics in my book. I thought he did a great job with the first two Bat-films, although parts of them were a little cartoony. I'd have to say, if anyone is going to remake "Willy Wonka", Burton is definitely the man with the visual flair for the job, but after seeing his "Planet of the Apes" remake, I'm left with one question, "Why?". Now the original POTA is one of my all-time favorites, (I named my daughter Taylor), and I didn't think the remake was the crapfest many said it was, it just wasn't very good, and seemed totally unnecessary as a film. It added nothing to the mythos, and just made me want to rewatch the original. The original "Willy wonka and the Chocolate Factory" is a classic, with Gene wilder delivering a perfect portrayal of the title character. So, again I ask "Why?". Well, I guess we know the answer to that one........$$$$$$$$$$$. Wonder if he'll try to get Keaton or Depp to star?

Dismal idea, craply handled. So desperately wants to be "The Job" in Sloane Ranger heaven, but lacks the writing, the grit and the casting. That AFI Heroes and Villians list was the most namby pamby lamely PC bunk ever, Silkwood AND Norma Rae??! Oh and Gandhi!! To bad they never made a movie about Samuel Gompers or Bela Abzug. Noble figures yes, but about as far from iconic film heroes as you can get. And no Mad Max or Ash for fanboys to jizz thier acid wash 501's over. Major disrepect to BOTH Chuck's Norris and Brosnan! Anyway, I liked the writing, but I absolutely HATED the camera work. All the fast-motion, stutter-cam, weird-ass shit just doesn't float my boat. I also hated the roommate. She was such a rotten bitch, and immediately started treating Eddie (who had every right to be there) very poorly, beign rude to him, and generally showing her brattitude. If I were him, I wouldn't have just threated to tell her mum that she was skipping college to live in that flat... I would have told her to get out- MOVE OUT- or I'd tell her mum about her skipping college and blowing all that college money. The show would be 25% better without the girl in it. I reaalllly hate those strained, forced, impossible-to-believe Love-Hate relationships they push on us in movies and television. If a girl (or anybody) were that rude, nasty, and grating to ME, I'd tell her to take a a hike. I don't waste my time dealing with people who can't behave themselves and act like adults. I mean, EVERYTHING Eddie said was met with a rude, sarcastic comment. She was a total bitch, cute or not. If she continues to be a main character, I'll lose interest very quickly.

Joins the "He-Man Woman-Hater's Club". Yes she was a spoiled-brat queen bitch (and not in a good "Old Cordelia Chase" kinda' way), but she was pretty cute. And I liked her bathrobe and boots. That brunette chicksuit that seemed to offer "Hot Sex" in the preview for next week, would be a good diversion for our Hero Eddie though. And, c'mon, every show since Moonlighting has been required to feature this kind of couple. It's the classic story that'll have your girlfriend dragging you out to that Luke Wilson/Kate Hudson chickflick as payback for dragging her to see that dumb computer movie she didn't understand. So stop being shirty and buy her the big popcorn.

My wife is not one of those dumb girly girls who only likes simple romance-movie chick-flicks, thankfully. She actually likes the computer movies and the action flicks, and meanwhile I don't mind a good romance as long as it's not contrived. You're right about the "Moonlighting" angle, though. It's like some prerequisite now, and I hate it. Why must all protagonists end up with the bitchy chick who hated them when they met? Frankly, I think they need to make Eddie gay in order to fix the whole "love-hate roomate" thing. Make him good and gay. Flaming. That would be entertaining- Has there ever been a flaming queen cop show?
Pilot and series
by Wesley's Dreamy

I liked the pilot. Despite that and having not seen the rest of the shows I know they will suck, though. When "moneypenny" gives him the look (you know the one suggesting not as much blood is making it to her brain) at the end and the squad commander welcomes him to the unit, the dynamic of the show collapsed. Eddie'll no longer be uncomfortable or the discomfort will be contrived. So it'll just be another crime-fighting show like any other, only with the Tower or Westminister in the background. Oh, and I hate the dog. I was so disappointed when he got out of quarantine. A much funnier running gag would have been the ocassional visit to the pound or references to the dog suffering in the pin. The dog/cat love hate relationship (what a subtle analogy) practically ruined the otherwise fine pilot.

As for the show...tee...the dog and the cat...get this...at the end...hoo...the dog and the cat...no, no I can't, it's just too funny. Key-rist. Can't the networks do away with these attempts at programming and just run commercials 24/7? They'd be alarmed at how the ratings would hold up. "Tonight at 8 - a full hour of Mentos!"
