On the one hand it's Ang Lee, and CTHD was da bomb, yo! On the other hand, all these reports about hulk dogs and the like concern me. I hope this isn't stupid, though I'm sure the FX will be cool. L8r

I've never been able to get into him as a character. I've always felt that the Hulk works best as a force of nature, like Galactus. Otherwise, it seems to me like all his stories end the same: "Hulk Smash."

Imagine how clumsy and depressed the Hulk must be. He has two right feet and no genitalia at all! All kidding aside, the look is great! Check out that musculature. I only wish they had given him a look of rage on his face. But how can you not be pleased by the overall look? Things are definitely looking up for the green behemoth!

...this looks pretty damn good. I was never that big of a HULK fan so I'm probably going to accept the changes in the big screen translation with a little less venom than most people. It sounds to me like Ang Lee is trying to make this a serious drama out of this story, focusing more on the tragedy of Banner's situation than the CGI enhancements of his alter ego. The whole situation with the... (((SPOILER WARNING)))... abusive father and genetic inheritance of the 'Hulk' gene... (((END SPOILER))) sounds like Ang Lee is making a very dark and serious film. I hope so. The whole 'love & tragedy' element with Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly reminds me of what Cronenberg did with characters in THE FLY (though I don't think Banner will be pulling out his fingernails or digesting donuts the wrong way). I dunno... maybe I'm just babbling and the movie will end up being a big flashy spectacle like GODZILLA. Man, I hope it doesn't suck.

I dunno, the Hulk in the comic (when I read in the early 80's) never came across as ugly or mean lookin', this looks more like a Frankenstein creation. Is he really going to be naked? Unless he is wearing a g-string we are gonna get an eyeful of some big green cock if that rear-shot is anything to go by!

But for how long??? The Hulk has no control over his animal rage and we have no control over the mercurial fate of the talkback. Will it become-- genetic inheritence? A legacy of incompetence and rage passed down without mercy. OR WILL IT? Is it really "incompetence" (as some would have us believe) or some twisted social experiment forged by the demon minds in control of the technology? Yes. Dividing our communication. Making us weak and incoherent--- not by choice-- but by force. HULK SMASH!!! Or is this unreasonable confusion in fact a benevolent force that can be used for good? Does it teach humility to those who post FIRST to be obliterated by the sands of time in the form of a really fucked up talkback order? Does it teach us not to discuss ideas with one another, but to post outside of petty individualism and write directly TRUTH that will be understood within any context of chaos that unfolds? What will become of the HULK????

once the trilogy is complete you'll see the mangled whiffy corpses of star wars, matrix, hulk, spiderman, etc etc *yawn*, all shown up for the inferior product they are. ... So why bother making these 'lesser' films? Seriously. Roll on TTT, the ONLY film that matters.

Or does a dose of radiation actually turn your skin green, give you muscles on top of muscles, and cause your pecker to drop off. Sculpt-wise, nice work, but I still like the Marvel Classics sculpt that came out earlier this year, along with Capt America, Iron Man & Toad. As to the film....if they can explain the existence of an eight foot tall, green, muscular, bare-ass nekkid, peckerless mutant roaming the streets....that I just HAVE to see.

it may be, but it doesn't really tell us all that much, now does it? I haven't played with dolls, I mean action figures for quite some time now but I remeber how you couldn't tell Han Solo from Luke Skywalker by their facial "features", just by their outfits. So he's green, muscular and mean-looking but will he actually look like that piece of plastic? I doubt it.

I swear to god, it's the exact same face. And though it's a little awkward, I can see why it was decided upon that the Hulk wouldn't wear pants. Let's hope that Ang Lee can pull this off, despite all the bad word that's come from production. Eitherway, I cannot see Hulk doing anywhere near Spiderman business, but maybe Minority Report or greater.

The dred-like hair is really just because it's something easier to animate, isn't it? It seems very strange-looking, not like how I thought, more realistic, but ...creepy/wrong. Making Hulk look like Banner is a bad idea.

Check out the pics on the same page entitled "hulksheet" - looks like photos of pages from the Hulk marketing kit. Hulk is clearly depicted with purple pants! The doll is probably just an early production mockup with some parts (pants, left leg) not ready yet. I'm guessing the pants will be cloth.

Yes. Very unique. It still looks like the Peter David era Hulk. This movie will have nothing to do with the Kirby/Lee concept. It's obvious Ang and Company only found Peter David's tripe interesting. Too bad. If we're lucky, we'll see a few variations - Grey and angry. Green and savage....but still, it really isn't even that interesting for a film, and this is coming from someone who owns every issue up til 1995.

Asian people sit around, somberly talking about a sword. Then there's an action sequence where they fly around on wires. Then they sit around, somberly talking about a sword. Then they fly around on wires. Then they sit around, somberly talking about a sword. Then, they fly around on wires. Then they sit around, somberly talking about a sword. Then they fly around on wires. Don't get me wrong. I loved "The Ice Storm," which apparently only myself and four other people actually saw. But CTHD was not, nor should it ever be called, "da bomb." Yo. Oh, and I thought the Hulk's face was supposed to be based on Eric Bana's. Looks more like my dad when he's pissed.

Having the hulk naked sounded fine in theory ...but even getting this glimpse of how things are gonna look ...makes me suspect it's not working !The designs fine..he looks like most early comic versions..but ...there's something wayyy too silly and distracting about it.His tight buns are comical...out of all proportion. And is this oing to be one of those films where they decide the character should be naked{lifeforce springs to mind} then get all shy and start hiding his privates behind carefully placed forground objects ..like some sort of big green austin Powers intro scene.Besides his purple pants are a big part of his character , reducing them to a ragged loin cloth would be much logical.

Although they claim it's a good likeness, it probably won't be. The only movie toys that look like the actual characters from the film are the Toy Story toys, and it'd take a monumental idiot to fuck those toys up. So I am sure the CGI Hulk will look more impressive than this, and may even have a cock.

i just get more confused daily. i don't think i'm alone in that i'm really worried about this hulk movie. i have faith in ang lee, and, unlike three quarks, i recognize CTHD was a great movie(but you are entitled to your opinion quarks) but there's some stuff i've heard about this that really worries me. yet, no one is bitching about this movie. the most we're worried about is the whereabouts of the hulk's penis???? ok, i'm game. i'm putting my movie about the murder of all talkbackers on hold for now. you've reinstilled my faith in movie geeks. i now see you can debate about a comic book movie in a civilized manner....as long as ben affleck isn't in it. so like the rest of you i will be there opening weekend hoping the hulk movie isn't a waste of my hard earned money. i'm starting to love you guys again instead of hating you all with a purple passion. i love you dearly, not queerly.

Most likely so they can show how much detail they're putting into the hair. If you look at the advertising sheets on SuperHero Hype's page, or if you just think back to the teaser, you'll notice that they depict Hulk having dark green, almost black hair. And, no, they are not going to be releasing a naked Hulk toy. Obviously, he'll be released with cloth pants. These pics were taken to show what kind of detail and articulation was put into the sculpt. hiding the lower body behind cloth pants wouldn't really do a good job of that, now would it?

"Once he'd made his contact -- and it appeared he was going to be able to carry it through -- he became very calm and analytical about the situation he was in ... a period of relaxation ... until it came time for him to kill the victim ... he would become torn apart as to the correctness of his conduct ... he'd still have the overriding need to dispose of the victim, and, of course, once it was done, he would usually go into a state of panic. Suddenly it would seem as if the dominant, or formerly dominant ... the predominant, normal self came back into control in a horrifying way. Or one that is presented with ... conceived with panic and confusion ... Fear of being captured or discovered ... I would envision a continuation of this kind of collaboration ... between that one part of this person's self. Which demands certain gratification, and the more dominant, law-abiding, more ethical, rational, normal self -- which was sort of forced to become a party to this kind of conduct. Basically you might say there was a shared division of responsibility. This came as much from evolution as from conscious choice." - Ted Bundy, reminded me of the HULK.

Bashing the source material
by Andel Crodo
Nov 12th, 2002
01:29:11 PM
First things first. If the Hulk has two right feet... does that mean he's a good dancer? - - - - - - - I did a little research on the nudity of the toy and it appears that it will come with removable cloth pants. Hakuna-Matata (it means no worries). - - - - - - - To the Hulk bashers (or should that be "smashers")... you're not going to be convinced on way or the other as to the validity of this character's popularity by casually popping into a chat forum on a movie website. If you think he's just a big green guy that breaks stuff when he stubs his toe, then you're right, boring character. Funny, in fact, how many of you same people hold the TV show in higher regard when it was far more guilty of that than the comic ever is/was. Bottom line, I find it sad how so many of you keep coming in here to dismiss the source material. Isn't there enough movie tripe to bash without having to dig any deeper? There is a familiar and readily identifiable subtext to draw from ALL superheroes... the Hulk is no different. And it runs far deeper than does an alien raised on a farm or a rich vigilante who has a really cool car.

Knowing his style and his past movies, Ang Lee is going to make this film a deep and realistic story about anger, and that's the only way it's going to succeed, BY BEING AS CLOSE TO REALISTIC AS POSSIBLE...the idiots that want it to be a "hulk smash" comic book type story with the absorbing man or abomination, need to learn what makes a movie good: DEPTH. And for those crying about the cgi, i personally think it will destroy the competition simply because Ang Lee won't LET it look like Spider-Man. And if anybody thinks they can do a better job animating a movie that appleals to mass audiences and not only themselves, please step right up. Oh yea, the hulk is supposed to look scary and angry, not sweet and goodlooking. As for his dick swining around the screen(and that will probably appeal to some of you kids), why not WAIT UNTIL THE MOVIE COMES OUT to make all your well-informed comments?? then again, bashing a movie b4 it ever comes out is always fun right??
