Actually, Pixar's weakest film would be MONSTERS, INC.

I bought the MI DVD a few weeks ago and watched MI and A BUG'S LIFE back to back. Even though I've seen ABL about a hundred times (hey, I have kids, OK?) it was still more entertaining than MI. I would most definitely rather watch ABL than MI anyday. Still, if FINDING NEMO is at least as good as either one of those films, it should still make a killing at the box office.

... although I like Ellen Degenerous(sp), she's in danger of being extremely annoying in this film. It just didn't seem like she and Albert Brooks had that classic Disney chemistry.

I heard that GERI'S GAME was actually made by a senior at Savannah College of Art and Design and that since the school owns all the rights to anything their students turn in for grades, SCAD got all the money from selling that short. So it wasn't a Pixar short. does anyone else know if this is true.
Yeah, the MI DVD trailer for Nemo backs this up

it just wasn't a funny clip. Degeneres and Brooks seemed as adrift as their characters, with no real chemistry or energy or purpose about them. The whole thing just felt bland, but because it was just a clip I didn't worry. If it plagues the whole film, I hope its fixable. I'm really eager for the Incredibles though. Wish I knew who the voices are on that. It pisses me off that Pixar's stock dropped because Disney said they might not continue distributing Pixar's films. What the hell is that? Disney wants to put a ball and chain on Pixar until the end of time! Pixar wants to get out from under them! Why should the stock go down when Disney pulls that kind of empty threat?! Damn stock market. Wallstreet is full of panzies.
Well go buy some

Pixar stock then. $46 dollars a share. Bargain. It'll go up up up. look at their assets! Their intellectual property! I might buy one or two. It'd be cool.
Publicly held shares

All they need is one mediocre film. It's Disney of the early to mid-nineties all over again. Sure they developed what seemed to be a winning formula. Recognizable actors, award-winning song writing teams... so what happened? They're time was up, the trend was over. Now I love Pixar. I think they're one of the best film companies on the planet. But their business sense of huge chunks of outstanding publicly held shares is insane, and it will bite them in the ass. If they have one weak film, their shares will be cut in half, which will cause a devastating chain reaction. Thankfully, they've buffered themselves with a string of outstanding films, but the public rarely remembers past endeavours when it comes to lost capital.
The Pixar shorts DVD is coming out in 2004??

Jesus, what the hell is the delay all about? Then again, it makes sense, because Pixar is run by Lucasfilm, which in turn is run by the king of delays himself, George Lucas. And I'm afraid I also have to agree that Monsters, Inc. is the weakest Pixar film, in terms of casting, in terms of humor, and in terms of story. And all three of those aspects are what make Pixar movies WORK (besides the animation, that is, which is always top notch). I am looking forward to a CG film about cars, though, because I expect it to have some pretty damn sick car tricks that is just too dangerous to do in live action.

Personally, i disagree with all the monsters inc. bashing going on so I thought I would chime in with a counter opinion. I like toy story a lot, thought bugs life was ok, and thought toy story 2 was somewhere in the middle, but monsters inc., that movie I love. See, normally I think I would find some of the things in this movie annoying, such as the wise crackin billy crystal voiced sidekick, or the cute little girl, but for me, the entire thing just worked. Its just a gut reaction, but I enjoy this much more than thier other movies. Hell, I have Monsters inc. and the toy story toy box 2 pack on the shelf next to me and never even bothered to buy a bugs life. Oh yeah, that Finding Nemo trailer sucked, but for now I'm giving them the benifit of the doubt.

Lucasfilm sold Pixar to Steve Jobs about ten years ago. Get with the program.

Thanks for all that info, Im about to go on vaction and must now get pictures with the pixar charcters. Like I said my opinion about Monsters inc. is kind of an unqualifiable gut reaction, and I did not mean to short Toy Story 2, when I say I like it less, that still means I like it better then 99.9% of the movies out there, I really like it a lot, but man, Joan Cusack's voice drives me up the wall.
