I'm sorry but seeing "plug-and-play" mentioned in conjunction with HELLO KITTY just makes me uncomfortable ever since I first learned about this: http://jlist.com/cgi-bin/shop. cgi?ss=hello+kitty+massager&fu nction=search
Yeah, but here in Quebec HARLOCK is "ALBATOR" and GRANDIZER is "

More of my thoughts on the Live Action YOU'RE UNDER ARREST..

(Mostly cut-and-pasted from my comments in the thread on this subject in the AnimeNation.net forum at http://www.animenation.net/for ums/showthread.php?s=&threadid =46847 because I'm too lazy to paraphrase myself.)Apparently, the oldish-looking guy in the photo isn't the Captain but the town marshall... the Captain in the live-action series is the middle-aged woman. I guess this means that the ending won't be the same as the manga, for those of you who have read the manga all of the way through (I have, in French, from Manga Player/Pika Edition), unless one of the other major characters is a lesbian (well, that particular character is a tiny bit bisexual when she gets drunk). One thing I'm excited about is that, in the image on the front page, there's a girl in a high school uniform... I wonder if that's supposed to be Saori (the girl Natsumi and Miyuki convinced to become a police officer)? But I don't know if I should get excited because I don't know if anyone will pick this up. ADV should try licensing a "dorama" series for domestic distribution, and this one should be the experiment! I don't think Ken looks hunky enough to be Ken, but that could be because I pictured him as being a younger version of Ken Ogata (the actor from THE BALLAD OF NARAYAMA, not the voice actor for Ataru's father in URUSEI YATSURA and Genma Saotome in RANMA 1/2).

They're really doing a live action series? When is it hitting the States? And how are they going to do Nimitz, with CGI or a puppet? Keep us posted!

About the above mention of a new Kenshin OAV in production, is that the last Kenshin OAV with Enishi that has already been released in Japan, or is it a brand new one yet to be released in Japan? Also, about this Farscape animated series, is it anime, will it continue and conclude the series, will it have the original actors doing the voices????

I disagree... that movie is very overrated. Not to say I hate it... it's much better than a kick in the balls and it's an enjoyable way to waste away the length of time the movie is and I'll probably even rent it when it makes it to Blockbuster, but I in no way consider it to be the be-all-and-end-all of movies in that particular genre, and I think the filmmaker has done better work.
I hate to interrupt but...

...Farscape the Anime?!?!!? WHAT IS THIS?!?! HAve I been watching Excel Saga long enough to cause anime-type hallucinations?!?! No friggin way... O_o; That was a low turn-out for spirited away. I saw NO ads for Spirited Away on Local Television here in Minneapolis. *sigh* Here we go again. Di$ney's screwing us... I feel it.
I've seen a fair share of ads for SPIRITED AWAY on Boston TV

...(although I'm in Montreal, I have a Bell ExpressVu satellite mini-dish, and the East Coast channels they use for ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX are the Boston affiliates) more so than many other films in limited release, like THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS (for that one, I saw a lot more TV ads for the Criterion DVD than I ever saw for the theatrical release, for some reason).

of course it's "Albator" and "Goldorak", but i love those french dubs to death. those dubs were done with care and respect. not like those horrendous english/american dubs. captain harlock is an affront to the work of leiji matsumoto, whereas Albator just enhanced it.

Father Geek, bless you for giving us this news. I've enjoyed watching my beloved BGC 2040 dvd perfect collection and to hear that there's gonna both be a sequel to one of my all-time favorite animes as well as a spin-off series is just too much cool news for me to handle. This is the kind of news I love to hear and can't wait to hear more. Gotta love the show with the sexy women, the robot sci-fi angle as well as the action scenes. Hopefully the new Bubblegum Crisis series will get a release here in the U.S. :-)
Forgot to mention in my earlier post...

I forgot to thank Scott Green for coming up will this brilliant anime report in the beginning and sending it over to AICN. Love your column, it's a godsend for an anime fan like me and eager for the next one.
