Owen Wilson is always funny. Eddie murphy can be funny. and it is Betty Thomas directing and she usually knows funny.I shall reserve judgement until i see and hear more.

It looks like the director let Owen Wilson do whatever he wanted with the character - a pretty smart move considering the success of Shanghai Noon. Owen Wilson = Funny. Eddie Murphy = Usually Reliable. This certainly looks better than XXX, is all I'm saying, so I don't really understand Harry putting the hex on it.

eddie murphy has always been funny and owen isnt ALWAYS funny, nerds nutty prof was funny as hell Im just SICK of a black man ALWAYS having to be some sort of "sports guy" .........mad weak funny how you guys may like THIS version of murphy, where he is more in the chris tucker role where he doesnt seem to know whats going on, and is just thrust into a situation with the smart white spy. So typical well, at least he got top billing in this, the same way will smith SHOULD have got top billing in MIB2......cuz he is a waaaaaaaaay bigger star than tommy lee jones 90 year old ass too much damn race shit, and all yall do is suck up to it

"fuck you stupid white people" was going to be Will Smith's single for the MIB2 soundtrack. They only went with Nod Your Head at the last minute. Apologies for the double post.

Its not the fact that eddie doesnt hold back, its the fact he has nothing left to give. Like Arnold and sly. The tarnish is there, they arent that fun to watch anymore. And you cant count on a quality product from these guys anymore. Eddie is in this league now imho.

I think Tommy Lee Jones was billed over Will Smith in MIBII b/c of contractual reasons. At the time they did MIB Tommy Lee was the bigger star and probably had written in his contract he'd get top billing for MIB and any sequels. And the "Eddie Murphy" character was an athlete in the original TV shows so that's why he is here. I suggest a bigger problem is that the original character was played more or less straight by a young Bill Cosby and was considered a Television milestone at the time (black man as lead in action adventure TV show). Now he's just another Eddie Murphy gagster.
What's with all these spy flicks?

Doesn't it seem like there's a glut of spy-themed movies these days? Let's see: Black Sheep, Bourne Identity, Austin Powers, Spy Kids, XXX, Undercover Brother, Charlie's Angels 2, etc. etc.

Harry, you're kind of an idiot. This movie looks fun as hell. With a little luck, it'll make up for that soon-to-be piece of shit that we're gonna' see soon called Spy Kids 2. I worked at a movie theater when the first Spy Kids was released...I hate the movie for many, many reasons BESIDES the fact that it's a horribly written, poorly acted piece of shit. Come on, seriously...if Rodriguez or del Toro was directing I Spy, you'd be all over it like Jenna Jameson with a 12-inch dildo.

What I meant to say is, "Exactly! What's the point of remaking I SPY today? It would just be another buddy film instead of the groundbreaking concept it was in the early sixties."

It says that Eddie Murphy plays Kelly and Owen Wilson plays Alex, but on the show it was the other way around, Cosby as Alex and Owen was Kelly. Why would they change the names.

Eddie Murphy is one of Hollywood's most consistently funny people--sure he's tried some new things that didn't work out...caved in when they drove a dump truck of money to his house with a bad script, but damn it, there aren't many other actors out there who can make the words "Wesley Snipes Type" as hilarious as he did in Showtime, and although the movie itself was only okay, it was Eddie giving it his all (along with Deniro) that raised it from a sub par script to a solid peice of entertainment. You damn talkbackers! :( With your Jimmy Fallons... You'll be the death of us all!!!!! None of you are any Wesley Snipes type.

1) Eddie Murphy wuz robbed by AMPAS. He should have at least gotten a nod for "The Nutty Professor" (the first one). There's a big difference between wearing a fat suit and building a character, and Eddie showed how. Unfortunately, as Eddie himself says in "Bowfinger," a black person has to play a retarded slave to get Academy attention. 2) I would like to ramke Famke. She's a fit amazon.
Looks fun

I like it. Perhaps because I don't have the baggage of recalling the old "I Spy" so I don't have any expectations. I like Owen Wilson and Eddy Murphy, and Famke Jansen was there, I like her, too.

Once again Hollywood screws up a classic 60's series. Why change the characters races and reverse their personalities? Kelly Robinson(played by Robert Culp) was white, a happy-go-lucky, womanizing tennis bum and Alexander Scott (played by Bill Cosby) was black, easy-going, a Rhodes Scholar and fluent in at least seven languages. It would be one thing if "I Spy" was a series of novels, then I could see taking the creative license, but why pull a "Wild Wild West" (ala Will Smith as 'James West'), when the series is etched in people's minds from the tv show? For the life of me I cannot figure out why Hollywood remakes a classic program then proceeds to alienate its core audience, the fans of the original series. Think I'll pass on this one and watch the original in all it's well written, dramatic, humorous and action-packed glory on DVD. No 'wonderfulness'in sight for this new flick.
That sock bit was damn funny!
