Well, I love this show. I'll be sad to see it go. I never missed an ep except for the New Year's one and that was because we went out of town and my dad turned off the power to the VCRs. I really hope Jason Behr finds more projects because he is so talented. That goes for the rest of the cast. Hopefully they'll make the finale a good one.

In ten years, when you see this show on TNN or FX or Sci-Fi mouths will drop that 3-4 of the more active actors in the buisness were on the same show at the same time. And Frakes, Moore, Katmis, and the rest of the writers could still find work. I'm sure Joss Whedon could hire some of them for his "Firefly" series if it gets picked up.-----later-----m

At least Roswell had some original stuff during its 3 years, Smallville on the other hand is popular only because of its association with Superman, other I doubt half of you will be watching it regularly.

k Herc is definately right about Roswell being better than Smallville.. Smallville has yet to top Roswell Season 1... but like I mentioned Roswell "WAS" good... ever since Fox in their infinite wisdom decided to mess w/ the show it's been going downhill since season 2 and they are having the hardest time fixing it.. and as fer the babe factor even though Katherine Heigl is really hot.. I dunno with her short hair now I gotta place my bets on Kristin Kreuk..

Crashdown.com has updated the cancellation story--apparently they have heard from a Fox publicist that Roswell's fate will not be decided until May. Crashdown is speculating that a fan-based campaign may be able to save Roswell from cancellation.

smallville is actually pretty entertaining. ive never seen roswell cause i dont get upn, and up untill a few months ago had satellite, so nor did i get the wb. i hear it was supposed to be pretty good. so the show is cancelled, pray that that say fox( who could use a good teen drama in their line up instead of nothing but comedies and cartoons) or scifi(the home of good scifi, farscape) pick up your beloved show. then it might reach a wider audience then the upn can offer. then and only then will it survive. other wise it will live on in memories, and sindication(maybe).

Season one of Roswell was damned good, but it all started to go wrong when they started inserting over-complicated sci-fi plots into what was basically a pretty cool show about growing up / teen angst etc. At least if UPN pulls the plug now, it will go out with some dignity, rather than festing on for season after season (as some good shows have) and becoming a parody of itself.

Read this --------------------------- January 29, 2002 Posted by NetRanger www.crashdown.com Crashdown was just contacted by the 20th Century Fox publicity office for Roswell. According to the Roswell publicist, the final fate of the show will not be known until May, but Roswell has not officially been cancelled by UPN, so they asked that we correct the previous news item. The information in the previous news item came from multiple and separate sources connected to the show, who separately told the site the same information. The fact that Fox made the effort to ask for a correction is probably a sign that campaigning for the shows survival will not be a wasted effort. Please stay tuned to the crashdown news, and to the Ros 2 message board as campaign strategy develops.

Seriously, SU2 is better then Roswell have been this season. I used to like Roswell, and I honestly did hold out hope for the show, but damn how many bad episodes must we suffer through before it gets better. I watched last night's episode, and I was like WTF? I mean it was terriable, I found myself fast fowarding the tape to get to the end to see if anything of importance would happen. I agree with what someone said, let the show go off with what little dignity is left. A Roswell movie on the big screen? Please this is a waste of time, and even if it turns out to be good, it won't make any money, unless they pull in big names. I just don't know how the show went down hill. You would think when they were given a second chance on UPN, they would put their best effort into it to make it kick ass, but sadly that idea must have went out the window. As for the actors, I think we'll be seeing more of Brenden Fehr then any of the others, and the ex sheriff(can't recall his name), but the rest of the cast just wasn't the best of actors, and even though I think Jason Behr is talented, I doubt he'll make it big or get another series. The poor guy will probably be limited to guest shots on other tv series, and even that may be questionable, because he's to old to play a teen or young adult on one of the WB teen dramas.
Roswell vs. Smallville? Why?

Why the hell are we comparing both the shows? Sure, they both have an alien(s) in a small town, but after that they skewer away from each other. I liked 'em both. As far as Smallville goes, I've been recording them and have really enjoyed the show for it's entertainment value and it's nods at it's roots. It probably helps that I'm a Superman fan, but hey. I'm glad they're moving on past the krypto-mutant of the week premise, though as if they continue on that path the show will have no longevity. As far as Roswell, I saw a couple episodes in the first season and was intrigued, but didn't have a chance to follow up. Saw a couple episodes in the second season and found it entertaining, but never was that interested in it. As for this season, I started watching it, but soon found myself leaving for Smallville and 24. I can see why some people like Roswell, but it ain't my cup of tea.

Roswell and Smallville are both good shows, and it's kinda stupid how these "which is better" things get started anyway. But in this instance I'll side with Roswell, just because other than the Lex storyline, albeit a brilliant one, Smallville is essentially a carbon copy of the previous episode. They've FINALLY started doing some new things with it, thank God, but look at those first few episodes. Every episode had Clark saving someone (from a vehicle about 3 times) confronting the kryptonite-mutated monster-of-the-week getting exposed to kryptonite himself, becoming weak (OH NO! NOT THAT!) and then getting away and saving the day. The end. Lex is the only thing that pushes the story forward in any direction at all. Roswell has a bigger story, it has better pacing that let's you get to know the characters etc. etc. while almost everyone on Smallville is as 2-dimensional as a sheet of paper. But whatever, I enjoy them both.

Yeah, compared to the movies she was usually involved in, Roswell is a masterpiece. O' course I'm more a fan of Ms. Delfino and Ms. Appleby, so it doesn't bother me mutch.

Wohoo! Goodbye Roswell, don't let the door hit ya where George Carlin split yah. Goodbye bad actors, goodbye bad show (call it quits...more like knew they were history). Two networks, one behind a high powered show and still this sucker couldn't hold a rating point. For shows to succeed you need good writers AND good actors. Sadly for Roswell they could only get one of the two and saying they got one is being generous. It's a sad state of affairs when you get canned by UPN...how low can you go? I mean, this is the bottom of the stairs. All those who said Roswell just needed a good timeslot and a network behind it, sorry but you were wrong. Enjoy your days with the Trekkies who will be LAUGHING at you and that's the lowest of the low. Laughed at by trekkies, like getting laughed at by Bruce Campbell fans and even THEY are laughing and waving bye-bye. Guess Kat can finally call up Adam and Eve for the only work she is talented enough for.

Ok I'm a sixteen year old guy that lives in Australia. Over here we haven't got the new season of Roswell or Smallville yet but everytime a new episode is released I am quick to download it. Now I have watched Roswell from Day 1, and let me say that it is the best show on television. I think the reason that people are losing interest in Roswell is because they haven't watched it from the beginning. I mean seeing the characters grow up and the brilliant acting really makes them 3-Dimensional and that is what keeps me hooked from week 2 week. Season one was perfect, i wouldn't of changed anything, you could watch it and feel like you were a part of the gang, it was so intriguing. Sure season 2 was a dissapointment with the sci fi plot taking over not leaving much space for the stories of the relationships between the characters. But towards the second half of the season it began to return to what made the first season so brilliant. I think season 2 is what turned away so many loyal viewers and newcomers as it became hard to follow and watch. Now season 3, i think upn picked it up because it knew the potential that the series had. They focused more on the relationship side of roswell than the sci fi plot. Now so far Roswell has (well i think) definately returned to its roots and become extremely interesting and intriguing. But i think that the reason it isn't gaining as many viewers is that people haven't watched the show from the beginning. It is hard for new viewers to understand everything the characters have been through. I guess that is why they are trying to introduce new plots into the series, such as Isabels marriage, Liz and Max forbidden to see each other, Michael and Maria's break up, etc. They are trying to intoduce new stories to interest viewers. But the new smallville series is another reason that stopped people from maintaining interest. From the first episode i knew it was going to be a hit, and with a Villan of the week style show it drew attention away from the non-formulatic Roswell. Smallville had a simple formula that was easy for people to understand. Putting these two shows together was a big mistake from the start. I think if roswell wasn't up against so big of a competition it may have recieved better ratings, its still a mystery to me why they dont change it to another timeslot. Anyway Smallville is NOT (I REPEAT NOT) as good as Roswell. The acting for one isn't as good, and the characters are so 2-D. I guess its the action that draws viewers. So i dont understand how people can compare the two shows, one is a drama, the other an action show. Maybe people are expecting Roswell to be more of an actiony type show, but it;'s not, if they did that it would become like season 2 again. As for cancelling Roswell, I think One more season would be a good idea. With 7 episodes left of this season, it isn't enough time to wrapp up all the stories, and if they did it would be way too rushed. People want to know how Isabel and Jessie will turn out, same with max and liz, and michael and maria. People want to find out about max's son and what has happened to tess. What ever happened to Max's son story, it's like he just gave up on him. I think one more season for max to find his son, and for us to know where the characters are headed in life, and it might be a good time for the show to come to a close if it is satisfying. So IN CONCLUSION GIVE ROSWELL ONE LAST CHANCE> ITS OBVIOUS THAT IT HAS MANY LOYAL FANS, SO WHY NOT SATISFY THEM WITH ONE LAST SEASON TO TIE UP ALL THE STORIES. WHO GIVES A F*&k ABOUT RATINGS, THE FANS ARE MORE IMPORTANT.

Roswell was perfect, the problem became by to much interering by company heads, imagine the series if all was left up to Jason Katims, then it would have been a hit. And season 2 was actually good because it had the right amount of drama and scifi, but whats most important is the story which was about the royal 4 surving on earth and returning home to reclaim the throne and save its people from Kivar, in that story perspective they strayed from it. If they would have stayed the course there would have been enough drama, scifi, mythology, relationship, action, emotion, character, romance, tragedy, and story for everyone and the show would have been a hit that not even smallville could have beat even with it's built in audience of Superman lovers(that includes me too and I don't approve of the show, but it is entertaining). What ROSWELL needs to do is start over season 3 and pick up after Tess went back to the home planet with Max's baby. Not to undermine this season because it was good but not epic as far as story propelment in season 1 and 2 were. I understand that they(whoever)wanted to establish the character relationships to the new audience, but they're 2 mistakes were that they took up all of the fall season to do that, and 2 what about us loyal fans who already understood the relationships and wanted to see the story continue, yuo know as well as I do that you could have done both simutaneously. I still support this show in spite of its contradictions from seasons 1&2, because with out a doubt it's still the best show on tv ,other than 24 and Alias, because it doesn't undermine my intelligence like smallville, which don't get me wrong I watch for entertainment but would never be a fan of. Now and forever, 'till the day I die,LONG LIVE ROSWELL!

I watched every episode and taped every episode. I've been a fan since day one. But I'm not a blind fan: I know there were problems. The writing was shaky, especially in the beginning when all the characters changed personalities between episodes. We also weren't given enough to really care about the characters as individuals. Behr, Fehr and Appleby are reasonably OK actors; Delfino and Heigl are improvements. Delfino's delivery is better, Heigl's body language is better. Combine the two and you have one really good actor. Sadly, the storylines were not particularly compelling after the first season, so there was nowhere for the characters to go emotionally. I hope they keep the show on, because I'd hate to see what they replace it with, but this should be a wakeup call. Get...better...writers...

let me try this again. I have seen roswell from the very beginning. I thought it was excellent and last year's season finale was fantastic...BUT this year has been utter crap. The series, from DAY ONE, hinted that these aliens were from a planet that is in turmoil and is awaiting for them to return to help them out but this year has been " ohlet'sforgetwe'realie nsand doitwiththeearthlings". That's crap. it's more dawson's than it is sci fi. which means crap. Granted the first year was better than smallville's first year but smallville has workable flaws unlike roswell. It's flaw was in it's conception because i dont think it ever knew when to go scifi and when to go soap opera.
It's just a matter of opinion...Sokitome

Roswell has been changing over the years. The characters have been maturing and in the new season they decided that earth was their home now. Now Roswell is definately not turning into a dawsons creek style show. You dont see people sleeping around and sh!t. I admit it has dropped a lot of the sci fi elements, but it is focusing on the relationships again. Whats wrong with that. Its like the new season of buffy, the show has gone from a fun teen show to a dark adult series. I for one love the change, others hate it. It's just like the new season of Roswell, some people will love the drama, others will hate it (if u hate it i think smallvilles the show for you). Its just a sign of the show maturing. Now this season has sprung some great episodes like 'Busted' and 'Significant Others' and 'Behind The Music' and 'Samuel Rising'. I for one didn't enjoy the sci fi episodes as much such as 'Control'. It just seemed to be too much of a shift from the other episodes. See that is my opinion, but i bet other people just couldn't get enough of it. It is good to get a dab of sci fi in every episode to keep it fun and a sci fi plot that runs over the season isn't a bad idea either. But the relationships are the most important aspect of the series not the sci fi. SO I THINK THAT IT IS JUST OF MATTER OF TASTE. PEOPLE LIKE THE SCI FI ELEMENTS, OTHERS DONT. I FOR ONE LOVE THE NEW SEASON AND THINK IT IS FAR MORE SUPERIOR TO SEASON 2 (HOWEVER THE DEPARTURE WAS A BRILLIANT EPISODE). JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT U LIKE. TILL JUDGEMENT DAY COMES, ALL ROSWELLIANS KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED :) Roswell-Boy

If this is to be the last season of Roswell, so be it. I think that UPN giving it a third season was pretty cool, and I will always be thankful to them for that. Sure I'd like to see Roswell continue, but I want to make sure that the cast and crew of this wonderful show realize that they have created something special that was far and beyond regular television, no matter what the Neilsen ratings say. To the people who have made Roswell a reality, THANK YOU!
