I just don't know how I can put my thoughts into words after reading this article. No crap here, I just can't. This proves why Harry is so good at what he does and why AICN is what it is but this is above all else, what AICN does at it's best and I can only hope for more articles like this. It's the best thing I've read on this website for a long time and I hope for more stuff like this in the future. Just wanted to say thank you Harry, you've made my day.

Christ Harry what's wrong with you man? Shatner got to work with Heather Locklear on T.J. Hooker and that's about as cool and sexy as you can get! He also got to kiss Uhura in Classic Trek episode the very first interracial kiss ever on network TV! And what about "Get a life! Get a life!" from his hilarious turn on Saturday Night Live? Oh well not enough time to cover everything but you done good anyway.

I'm so used to hearing fans crap all over it. I'm not sure why. You'd think fantasy fans would be grateful for that rare item, but they seem to prefer bitching about things. Good article; I remember when Shatner was widely considered a joke and universally made fun of, so it's good to see him become semicool again (despite Trek V).

And I don't care who knows it! I've championed this film to friends since it's release. I like Shatner and to me, his humanity (the same humanity that made his portrayal of Kirk so successful....yes, including the faults) shone through in that film. And just hate the studio for the cheapness.....not him.

For those two episodes Shatner was in, he gave acting performances of epic scale. The way he pulled the lever of that little fortune telling machine with the bouncing devil's head set the standard for all lever pulling in the future. And the way he melted down aboard that airplane after pulling the curtain to see that creature that looked like the offspring of a gorilla and pig pulling the plane apart, not to mention the tremendous strength required to stay in the plane after he pulled the emergency exit latch. Any mortal man would have been sucked out, but not Shatner. He rules. period.

Right on about Twilight Zone. "The Terror At 20,000 Feet" is a classic. Even more classic was the "Third Rock From The Sun" episoode where Shatner as the Bug Giant Head walks off the plane and describes the same situation to Dick, who in his alter ego of John Lithgow, played the same character Shatner did in the Twilight Zone movie. Their reaction and lines are hysterical together.

That wonderfully odd man should do more comedy, he really should. He made "Miss Congeniality" watchable for the moments he was in it, and his stint on "Third Rock From The Sun" was sheer genius. And I'd say he's one of the greatest late night talk show guests ever. The man is funny. And, lets, not forget, he's a, decent actor to, boot!

Shatner is at his besyt when goofing on himself, or at least, Captain Kirk. His stint in Savage Steve Holland's "Eek! The Cat", doing the voice of Captain Bezerk in "Eek Space Nine" (along with david Duchovney and Gillian Anderson), as well as his turn with Kevin Pollack in "Perversions of Science", doing a dead on Kirk imitation while Shatner directed and starred in with his daughter, Melanie are both classic.
Shatner is a good actor
by The Hillbrothers
Jan 26th, 2002
12:35:22 PM
He's not the greatest actor, but he's fairly good. I've met alot of people who act like that in real life, and although Shatner is a little one-note in that he always seems to play the same "character," he often seems more natural on screen than his co-actors (exception always having been De Forest Kelley). As Kirk he was almost always utterly believable to me, despite being unfairly maligned for the performance, a reputation more undeserved than even Kevin Costner's, and largely the result of a few memorable but over-the-top impersonations. But you know, the odd rhythm he uses? Like I said, I've seen real-life people talk like that. Some people are just naturally melodramatic, but beyond that, if you scrutinize Shatner's performance as Kirk, you'll find that he is very good with the thoughtful pauses and reactions, etc., that often come with real conversations (with a melodramatic person, that is). Too much TV acting these days has performers spouting lines back and forth at lightning speed, like thaey are just reading through the script. I think Shatner really delivers his dialogue as an actor should-- as if he's hearing the things said to him for the first time, processing them, and then crafting a response on the spot. I have a secret (no longer) desire to see how he'd do in some sort of light dramatic role in a film. He'd make a great father/grandfather type... Ok, I'm going a bit too far with my Shatner worship here... It's not something I think about alot, but this has given me an oportunity to compose my thoughts on the subject.

Lives a brave little hobbit whom we all admire. With his long wooden pipe, his fuzzy little toes, he lives in a hobbit hole and everybody knows him. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, he's only three feet tall. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, the bravest little hobbit of them all. Now hobbits are peace loving folks you know, they're never in a hurry and they take things slow. They don't like to travel away from home, they just like to eat and be left alone. But one day Bilbo was asked to go on a big adventure to the caves below to help some dwarves get back their gold that was stolen by a dragon in the days of old. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, he's only three feet tall. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, the bravest little hobbit of them all. Well he fought with the goblins! He battled a troll! He riddled with Gollum! A magic ring he stole! He was chased by wolves, lost in the forest, escaped in a barrel from the Elfen hall. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, he's only three feet tall. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, the bravest little hobbit of them all. Now he's back in his home in the land of the Shire, that brave little hobbit whom we all admire. Just a' sittin' on a treasure of silver and gold, puffing on his pipe in his hobbit hole. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, he's only three feet tall. Bilbo, Bilbo Baggins, the bravest little hobbit of them all.
