38 years old, just 38! Great promise cut short, so short! I know Harry's probably really low right now because Ted was a close friend. I'm sure when he pulls himself together we'll see one of those increadibly personal musings of his. Meanwhile from Mexico's Central Highlands my heart goes out to all who will miss this fine cine artist...

Just for the record. It was a single battalion of the Parachute Regiment, 1bn para-reg not the entire regiment which consists of 2bn, 3bn and so on and etc. Ofcourse, this does'nt justify what happened in 72 despite the new evidence which has come to light in the regiments favour (which I'm sure will be overlooked in the movie in order to establish the usual pro-IRA, "all Brits are evil" message which you Americans usually love and invariably believe). Either way, I'm sure more Americans will watch the movie and generously donate more cash towards the murder of innocent British and Irish people and seriously believe that they're aiding a just and honourable cause. How positively pathetic, unspeakably ignorant and desperately irresponsible the producers of this loathsome shite must be. Get the fuck over it. Sl

Without getting into a major row, I think you're a little out of order. One of the first things Dubya Bush did (right after some stunning decisions about Kyoto, Alaska and SDI) was put any IRA aligned terror group on the proscribed list, outlawing donations to Noraid. Cut them some slack, eh?
What's this Nic Cage as Constantine bullshit?!?!?!?

Nic is in no way good for this role. What, is he that hard up to be in a comic-inspired film he has to ruin a great character in a feature film version? Get him away from this project pronto! That's almost as bad as having Brian Michael Bendis write Spider-Man.

The Spirit Creek spidey song is pretty good. I'm going to write my friends about the link. Is the movie going to be featured in the film at some point or just over the closing credits?

I tell ya...I'm getting up there in years when them kids' music don't make any more sense to me. They got Spirit Creek now. Just heard the single "And Together". Of course I have a bad feeling for these boys. Comic book movie bands that have nowhere to go but into oblivion after their big cut, in most cases. Hell these boys might find themselves playin' in a mall right next to Partners In Krime and Vanilla Ice while they remeniece over their respective TMNT days. Well, whatever work for the kids these days I suppose.

The best Spider-Man song is by an acapella group called Moxy Fruvous. "Spider-Man's master plan:/ build his own little spider clan/ in the woods, now in troops/ fighting for special interest groups..." Come on! That's good music!

I think it's perfectly fine for studios to take their time in dubbing japanese movies...or any foreign films, for that matter. "Spirited Away", after all, has deep cultural themes and a heavily Japanese atmosphere, and we're trying to market it to kids. And GOD FUCKING FORBID that little kids might actually LEARN something from a movie or take two seconds to fucking THINK about something they don't immediately understand! Can you imagine that after a little kid watches "Spirited Away", they actually become a little curious about Japanese culture and...gasp...ask questions about it? Or maybe even...go to a library? God, the HORROR!

Constantine and Nick Cage

Don't get me wrong--I like Nicolas Cage. But I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than see him fuck up my favorite comic book character. Once he's removed as the star and an actor who can pull off the role is in his place (can we say Jude Law or even Robert Carlyle?), I will gladly support this film. Until then I hope that whatever this braintrust is that seems to grasp on to great comic book heroes and figures Cage is correct for the role also greenlights a Batman film directed by Joel Shumacher and a Captain America film with fake ears grafted into the headpiece. Oh, wait. That's already been done..... Dumb asses.

Having Akiva Goldsman as a producer is a bigger issue. Here's a little snippet from Cinescape (http://www.cinescape.com/0/Ed itorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat= Movies&action=page&obj_id=3162 7) by Mr. Goldsman about everyone's favorite hellblazer. ---- Akiva Goldsman, producer on the progressing CONSTANTINE, has been talking about how the lead character, as played by Nicolas Cage, will be depicted on the big screen. While talking to Chicago Sun-Times columnist Cindy Pearlman, the scribe turned producer spoke of the title character, saying, "In a nutshell, Nick is a guy who went to hell, comes back and fights demons. "He finds himself in conflict with agents of darkness called the First of the Fallen. The movie is about how good and evil work like the gears in a clock." As readers of the original HELLBLAZER and SWAMP THING comics know, John Constantine isn't a superhero. On this point, Goldsman notes, "He wears a cool trench coat and fights evil using his head, his heart and his emotional unavailability."

Now we only need to loose Cage and get a good shooting script. Btw, sounds like Mr. Goldmann has JC confused with Spawn, although the characterization almost seems to be close to the comic books - I guess, given some time, they
