Christ, has it been THAT long already?! Living in "Twin Peaks" land (WA state), I've been to places that show up on the opening credits many a time and every time that music plays in my head when I do. I've read that the episodes are pristine, and DTS? I'm SO there! Hurry up next week!

This is all fine and good, but keep in mind that the original 2hr ABC pilot has still never been available on any medium and it's not included here. When the fuck is this gonna happen? I for one am not content with my crappy VHS version of the "European" pilot/movie in which the story arc is concluded within the last few minutes. I refer to that bogus ending that was incorporated into the infamous dream sequence in episode 3 here in the U.S. Before I shill out $50 to $60 for anything I'm holdin' out for the true pilot.

The pilot episode of Twin Peaks is, in my opinion, the finest hour of programming in television history. Gripping, weird, sexy, almost intoxicating. The rest of the show was superb, too, but the very first episode really drew me in.
Does it make sense without the pilot?

Won't first time viewers be a little put off by having the story start already in progress? I would think that an awful lot of people are going to buy this expecting the "complete" first season, and then have to put up with a written re-cap. There's going to be complaints.

Twin peaks is why I hate arthouse movies. It sucked. It was pretentious. It was Dune for television. No coincidence, since Lynch directed both (not the sci-fi Dune, before you start bitchin'). Twin Peaks has a wierd following, but so does the flat earth society and the scientologists. I'd rather see the "V" directors cut on DVD.

Isn't that what's already OUT on DVD? I got the impression from the commentary that there's little to no footage actually trimmed from V- nothing that got shot anyway! If you know different... got URL? :o)

The Twin Peaks pilot was a two hour movie, so it is the finest 75-90 mins of TV ever produced, in it's genre, of which, including X-Files, there has never been even a close match.

This series was lights years ahead of its time! By far Lynch's most accessible work! (and that is saying just how "out there" his other stuff is! eg. Mulholland Dr. ........last 20 minutes, did he let a monkey into the editing room? All I'm asking for is a chance to be able to decipher it! THROW ME A FRICK'IN BONE! HONESTLY WHAT DO I PAY YOU PEOPLE FOR!?!) I will never forget the Simpson's take on Twin Peaks though! Cheif Wiggam: "Did you have the same backwards talking dream with the flaming cards?" Lou: "I'll drive".

sometimes my hometown here in SC feels like the ass-end of the universe. in other words, even though I special-ordered one from Blockbuster, there's no guarantee I'll have this baby before Christmas, which is a shame because I really need it to give as a gift on the 25th. I know I can't rely on FYE or Circuit Shitty. If any geeks in the Blockbuster warehouses of Chicago or Atlanta are reading this, please make sure you get one on the truck for me next week please! even the 1/2 page ad in last week's rolling Stone got my pussy wet just thinking about it. oh, Peak me baby!

...I wanna see Herc's FWWM Edit. This is, excuse me, a damn fine series and I am extremely happy that it is coming out on DVD. Hopefully the sales from this set will encourage the folks who own the rights to the pilot to put it out also. I have heard that Anchor Bay has the rights to FWWM and want to put out the version Lynch originally shot, which includes all the characters from the series. That's one of the main reasons I didn't like the FWWM, I mean, how can you have a Twin Peaks movie without half the characters? Anyway, thanks for the great review. I'll be looking for this one under the tree on Christmas morning.

So if the Twin Peaks story arc only spans 2 weeks (minus FWWM & future-dream) why does Audrey's hair go from being Betty Boop in the pilot to Marilyn Monroe by episode 29?

what was this? the list thing didnt work at all. i have serious suspicions that this reviewer is in league with the devil. did he think that would be clever? well it wasnt, it made it hard to read and when you get to the end you realise he didnt really say a goddamned thing about the dvd extras except like two instances. i have never seen a review this poor in all my years. i feel as if i am less a person for having read it. wheres the person who writes really eloquently? the one who all the dumbshits were complaining used too big of words. can we just have he/she write all dvd reviews from now on? please? whoever is in charge of this site, please hear this. ps...take a dump.

I'll be handing my hard-earned over for this set. Lynch may be weird, but Lynch weird on TV is a million times better than most crap out there. - so said Dale Cooper (approximately). Tuesday my small treat shall be this box set. Then Wednesday will be LOTR. Christmas has indeed come early. And to the poster above- the entire series spanned a little over a month, each episode taking place over 24 hours except a three day gap between two episodes in season 2. (Not going to say more as its spoilers)

I'm disappointed that the pilot isn't included here (so we'll have to shell out another $20 down the line, no doubt), but am still excited that "Twin Peaks" is finally going to be on DVD. Without TP, there would have been no "X-Files", no "Buffy". I am eternally grateful to Lynch. Yes, Windom Earle/dull Annie sucked. Donna always bugged me, too; I always found her character to be whiny and annoying and I couldn't stand that whisper she always talked in. But I loved the show as a whole. I even loved the last episode, even though Lynch seriously jerked our chains by leaving us with about 15 different cliffhangers (AUDREY AND BEN HORNE LIVE FOREVER!).

I owe Ivy Wolff for getting me hooked on this film. She was a hottie senior in my class of 91. I was trying to get with that for a long time, but she started dating that asshole Josh Adkins. Sorry off-topic. This show rocked. My favorite character will still always be Albert Rosenfeld.(Miguel rules!) "Cooper, an observation.I don't know where this is headed, but the only one of us with the coordinates for our destination is you. Go on whatever visionquest you require, stand on the rim of the volcano, stand alone and do your dance. Just find this beast before he takes another bite." Classic. Once again I have a great idea that could bring back Twin Peaks and answer all questions, but it will probably never see the light of day. And how could you forget Sherilynn Fenn, the hottest actress on that show, with Sheryl Lee a close second, and Peggy Lipton third. Come on she's still hot after all these years! I'm buying it tuesday.

That sucks about the pilot episode though. Oh well, I guess my VHS copy will have to do until a proper DVD release. Anyway, I am so there for this boxed set. Oh yeah, and the omission of Sherilyn Fenn in the mention of "The women of Twin Peaks" was pure blasphemy. Ever seen "Boxing Helena"? Da-rool, da-rool! (Smacks lips) Peace.

Would Cooper call Mulder "Denise" the whole time?
by agentcooper
Dec 13th, 2001
05:29:23 PM
Would be so hard to do, yet amazing. Who but Agent Mulder would have the unique set of psychic circuits to rescue "The Good Dale" from The Black Lodge? Alas, so much time has passed, what would BOB have done in Cooper's guise during these ten years? Would Cooper be implicated in a horrible string of serial killings? Would Mulder and Scully be called in to investigate an agent run amuck in the woods around a small Northwestern town? Would Mulder slowly unravel the mystery, joining league somehow with Cooper's spirit, transmitted to him in dreams and visions? Would the following things be explained: What was causing the violent shaking of hands and arms in the final episode? What is the significance of the "Dugpas?" Who was killed in the bank explosion? Is Ben Horne Donna's real father? Why did Josie become trapped in the wood? Who thought that Pine Weasel business made for good TV? By the way, I think the quote goes, "Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. It could be a catnap in your office chair, a new shirt in the men's store, or two hot cups of steaming black coffee."

you know who's the biggest PUSS on the whole show is that rowdy biker James! He had Donna wrapped around his whatever, then he pulled a James Dean and split after Leland killed Maddie, somehow reasoning that the deaths of Laura and her cousin were his fault. wotta homo! Donna cried for you, you simp! then he didn't seem too guilty when he ran off and fucked that chick after he fixed her car. that's my vote for lamest, most fast-forwardable subplot of the 2nd season.

06:12:46 PM
...James' affair with the femme fatale was very lame. Pine Weasel gets my vote for second. Coming in a close third was Nadine goes to High School. Although, it was pretty funny that she and Mike hooked up...And my favorite head scratching moment of the series: Harry meets "Mr. Lee" Josie's assistant (who is actually a goon working for Mr. Eckhart). Two days later, when reading the Seattle paper, Harry reads the headline right below the fold: "Asian Man Killed," and there is a beautiful head shot of the actor who played "Mr. Lee." Where did the paper get this nice photograph? Is a shooting in Seattle really big news? Is the fact that the victim of the shooting was Asian important enough to be included in the headline? The mystery continues...

My bad. I guess I got confused. I meant that the Laura Palmer arc spanned just over 2 weeks minus FWWM. Then there was the 3 day gap between episodes 15 & 16 and the 2 weeks of Black Lodge voodoo that followed.

Along with McGoohan's "The Prisoner" series, "Peaks" is hands down the best thing ever produced for the small screen. To think that even the pilot aired on the now festering sewer we call network television is amazing. I believe it was the great master, Mark Frost, who once said, when asked about the current state of television (circa '95), "I think that television has become like the Great Satan in our country. It's really sapping peoples' will to live." God can only guess what he'd say in the age of prime-time gameshows and creepy reality programs. Will we see another "Twin Peaks"? Can television ever inspire such loyalty and interest in the grand puzzle that was "Twin Peaks"? Well, no. "Mullholland Dr." wasn't picked up, and "The Prisoner" was from '68, "Peaks" was '90. I'd say we have to wait until, roughly, 2023 to find out. Until then, I'm buying this disc set yesterday!

hey, call me a bluff old traditionalist but I thought DVD was versatile, not video disc(grumble, tsk, etc).Whatever , I'll be gittin' this slice of classic TV,git me some cherry pie and black coffee, and analyze the crap out of it, cos I sooo know that Leland Palmer was framed and Laura was secretly shagging the midget. I'm curious about this extended version of FWWM that another TB'er mentioned, for that would really be something to look forward to. So what would be the restored scenes? I'm also curious as to wether Mark Frosts idea of getting Twin Peaks back on the road with Agent Cooper and Kiefer Sutherlands character (forget his name) is any nearer to going into production. Anyone?.Such a cool show . God bless Lynch and God bless Frost. And me, cos I'm so saintly and never had naughty thoughts about Madchen Amick.

The real question is "Does it make sense WITH the pilot?" A: Not really, but it's pretty amazing stuf all the same...BTW, if there's a good video store in your area, you might be able to rent a copy of the European pilot (but beware the tacked-on ending--I didn't realize I wasn't supposed to see it, and I was confused as hell when I started watching the "first" episode). At the very least, Vision Video in Athens, GA has the Euro pilot available for rent. Blockbuster can suck Vision's balls, for all I'm concerned. Anybody wanna buy me this set for Christmas?

I loved this series, even though I did not try and work anything out to much extent it just begged me to watch the next episode, I only missed one. For some reason I do not remember David Duchovny being in this even though I have been an avid fan of the x-files. I must agree; to not mention Ms Fenn is a disgrace - she was to lust for in this serial. Damn Sexy! Have not watched it since and I really really want to get this on DVD but I think it is pathetic in this day and age that no-one could agree enough to get the pilot on this set. This is bloody ridiculous! What is the problem? I would love to know the real reason the pilot is not included. If it turns out that they release this in 3 months time including the pilot then I will be mightily pissed off but I suspect that the company that owns the rights to the pilot is going to see how well this sells and then decide if it is worth their while putting the pilot out.. Bastards... P.S. I Love a lot of Lynch's work but I found Eraserhead mightily difficult to watch - anyone else agree?

By the way, for the person who wanted an update on the Mark Frost proposed TP sequel--the word that I read somewhere was that Lynch said it wasn't a possibility and that Kyle M. wouldn't be cooper again because he had felt abandoned during the second season of TP. Oh, and DavidLynch.com has launched. It's still in its formative stages, and the new series haven't debuted yet, but there's a fair amount of video shorts and other content that's made it worthwhile so far. But in order for it to succeed, he'll need more people willing to pay $10 a month. Come on--$10 a month isn't too bad if you enjoy lynch.

You all should go now to EBay and look for the Hong Kong Region 0 pilot DVD. It isn't the best, guaranteed, but it has the originally broadcasted ending--not that messy tacked on European version. You can pick one up for under $15 at Ebay or elsewhere online. If you are going to be getting the first season on DVD, then you really must splurge on this print. Oh, and may your smile be your umbrella :)
