Does anyone know when the Cowboy Bebop movie will get a video release in the US? I saw a fandub of the film last night at the anime club at my school. It was GREAT! It was funny, exciting, touching and just damn cool all at once. I can't wait to see it again. :) Happy Halloween!

Sorry for straying off topic, but your school has an anime club as well? Mine just started one last week (although I haven't gone to it). Don't schools teach, like, actually SUBJECTS anymore? I can just imagine campus bookstores with "The Red Cross Book" on the shelves.

If there is an anime club at your school i suggest going. It's a great way to see all sorts of new titles without having to fork over the cash for expensive video and DVD releases. Would you rather watch anime on your own or next to some guy dressed as Koyasu Takehito (complete with cardboard armor)?

The Cowboy Bebop movie hasn't been licensed yet, so it'll be a while until it's released domestically. Hell, I don't even think it's come out on DVD in Japan yet. It'll probably be at least 3 months and most likely closer to 6 because we see a Region 1 release of Knockin' on Heaven's Door because whoever gets the rights to it (God I hope it's Bandai -- the did a damn good job on the TV series) will have to dub it. And I'm sure, since it's becoming somewhat of a hit on Cartoon Network, they'll try to get a US theatrical release out of it, which will delay it even more. So don't get your hopes up for the Bebop movie to hit shelves anytime soon. Remember, even the Bebop TV series was released in Japan back in 1999. Jason Byrons The Abstruse One

Thanks for the info. I'm right along with you in hopes that Bandai gets the rights to distribute the film domestically. The series dub was excellent so I hope that the same care is put into dubbing the movie. It's SUCH a damn cool movie that I hope it gets a theatrical run in the states. I'm not too sure how well it would do because it still has mostly limited appeal to those who have actually seen the show (but, thanks to CN, the audience has been widened). Still, I would personally love to see it on a big screen.

The 2001 of Anime. One of the few perfect films ever made. Some of the most stunning imagery and animation ever created. Obscure, esoteric, in the best senses of those words. The DVD is out in Japan. WTF is the holdup, Anchor Bay? Damn! I'll just have to subsist on my rare fansub and wait. And wait. And wait. I got the soundtrack though, and it's simply incredible, well worth the several month wait for the importers to do their job. I need a Japanese translator for the liner notes, though. ^_^

I saw this film about 2 weeks ago at an independant theatre with a friend and this movie kicks some serious ass. The battle scenes were awesome. The vampire hunters scene in the cemetary was a mixture of John Carpenter's Vampires with the style and characters of Todd McFarlane, and was undeniably wicked. The battle scenes also reminded me of X-Men (with the monsters having cool powers like being able to hide in shadows, or shape shifting.
