To anyone in the Industry -especially the "tracers" (assist animation...(or "final line animators" if you work for dreamworks - cuz saying you were "clean-up" sounded like a janitor title) this movie is animations lucky-to-be-alive abortion. It is an atrocity of grand scope. Belle is just horrid to look at with her 4 faces... they could NOT keep that girl on model. And don't even get me started on the beast who starts out as the massive...well...BEAST and turns into this pansy erect 7 foot talll furry dancer. Soooo bad... Some of the movie is assisted so bad it's unwatchable. As if it was done overseas (but disney wouldn't do that...they're no that cheep are they?) this movie was a mess when originally put together... there was like 3 studios working on the characters...no specific team to each one (or so I heard ...and that makes sense) So now they have an added scene... I guarantee it wasn't done by the top guys, but it's secondary characters so no big deal. ah well... If you really want to see the movie again, go find the work print. It's a version screened at the New york film Festial and it's a work in progress. VERY COOL...mostly rough animation and storyboard. CHEERS!

Hey, the Wallace, chill out. You're nitpicking things that most audiences don't care about. The story was good, the songs were memorable, it made boucoup bucks, and oh yeah, was nominated for an Academy Award as best motion picture. Guess that doesn't live up to your standards.

Anyway, I'd rather see the "abortion" of animation with a good, classic story like Beauty & the Beast, than a beautifully animated and produced blah-fest like Road to El Dorado. Over the past 10 years, neither Disney or Dreamworks has matched Iron Giant or the best of Pixar, overall quality-wise (story, characters, AND presentation,) so we'll just wait and see. I hear "Spirit" looks pretty mindblowing though.

...this will be playing exclusively on "IMAX and Other Giant Screen Theaters." You think they got that point across?

While a agree with some of your comments about the film (Belle's face for instance) I have heard that Disney has gone through a great deal of effort to make this release look great. Whenever possible the people who first worked on the film (animators and voice talent) were brought back to complete the new song. Also I have heard that there has been a lot of work done to clean up the character animation in several parts of the film. I can only hope this means redrawing Belle in the scene in the basement where she confides in her father, in my opinion the most poorly drawn scene in the film. My wife on the other hand wants the prince at the end to have a nose job!

Didn't anybody like Tarzan as much as I did? Or Emperor's New Groove? This website is often just a He-Man Disney Haters' club. So I tend to just stop reading crap like Wallace's after the first few lines. By the way, Lilo & Stitch blows all this other crap out of the water

when I was young I loved the movie...now it just bugs me... So many plot holes... eg. Belle shows a lynch mob a magic mirror of the beast and they immediately know where he is and don't burn Belle as a witch? The ripped painting that belle looks of is of the beast when he's TEN??? he looks 30? How come the beast aged but the silverware didn't? why did only chip get special attention from mrs Potts? how bad would it suck to be changed into a knife? and why did a candle get a mouth but not a plate? How long did lefou sit in the snowbank? it was like a full season? why did belle keep her hair pulled back when she looked so hot with it down (if she was drawn well - which she was) The only truly great animated film is the Iron Giant. But as far as ones that are good, better than Beauty and the beast, gotta go with Lion King, Aladin, I thought even HunchBack had more heart.

Speaking of re-releasing Disney animated films "exclusively in IMAX/Giant Screen"... they're doing LION KING in 2003. Check out this piece of news for more info (they're doing a Black Stallion IMAX film too): http://www.bigmoviezone.com/fe atures/newsinbrief_aug_sep01.h tml

I agree Iron Giant was a well-made movie that had some nice stuff in it. But it isn't worth the worship it gets here. The reason you cranks worship it is it is an OK movie and NOT DISNEY. But for pure emotion and great storytelling, it's no match for Disney's best.
One word... "Superman"

Granted, Tarzan looked great, Mulan is underappreciated, and Emperor's New Groove was actually funnier and tighter than Aladdin, but don't bag on Iron Giant just because it ISN'T Disney. The Giant saying that one word right before stopping the bomb conveys as much emotion in five seconds as most two minute Disney musical numbers. Disney's been on the second rung looking up Pixar's ass since Toy Story 1 and that is an undeniable FACT. As for Dreamworks, Prince of Egypt was a very grand experiment, and Shrek, though WAYYYY overrated, seems to have touched a nerve in audiences. That said, Dreamworks has a ways to go before it steps over Disney as well. No matter how much the beancounters are driving Walt's dream into the ground, there will always be history and a name on Disney's side.
