Spielberg writing screenplay for A.I.'
Hey folks... Well, this is a fascinating bit of 'rumor/news'. Michael Fleming, over at Variety, is reporting that Spielberg is actually busy turning the infamous 80 pages of Kubrick notes on the project into a full blown screenplay... himself. Now this absolutely captivates me.
I love Spielberg's work. My entire life I've been entertained by him. But recently... more than anything... I've missed his writing. I believe the last bit of entertainment that I saw that came completely out of that head of his was the video game... DIG... Before that was numerous stories he wrote and/or came up with for AMAZING STORIES (God, I miss that show). From GOONIES to POLTERGEIST to CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND... Steven is a fantastic story man... He's the sort of guy I'd love to sit around a campfire with and listen to the stories spontaneously pour forth.
Now I know... No matter what Steven does, it won't be as (ahem) great as the mighty Kubrick. Well... Ya know... I don't care. Steven Spielberg is writing again... If that's Kubrick's parting gift to us then that alone is worth celebrating. I can't wait to see the yarn roll...
