Will Johnny Depp be playing Robert Burns'
Aye Folks.... Harry ere. Ol Willy ere had this bit of Scottish whispers to share with ye. It's almost enough to start me screeching: "Ah, Tam! Ah, Tam! thou'll get thy fairin!
In hell they'll roast thee like a herrin!
Harry,
I'm not sure if the following will be of interest or not but I thought I'd pass
the information on anyway. Given the current hullabaloo about Sleepy Hollow, I
have news of a possible future project for Johnny Depp. There have been rumours
in the Scottish press recently that the actor might be playing Robert Burns, in
an upcoming film about the 18th century Scottish poet's life. Burns was a
fascinating character - political radical, sex god and poetic genius - and will
be a great subject for a biopic. The film would chart the farmer-poet's rapid
rise to popularity and his romance with Lady Agnes McLehose, who he immortalised
in a number of poems. A few months ago, Robert Carlyle and Emma Thomson were
mentioned as possible stars of this film but there's no word if Thomson is still
attached, or any news of a director yet. The film is said to have a budget in
the region of 20 million pounds (US $33 million) and shoot at locations across
Scotland.
Slainte,
William Wallace
