The title THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH has been used at least 5 times since 1916, most notably in a Cecil B. DeMille's 1952 epic starring Charlton Heston (which won 1953's Best Picture Oscar)...

My mom always used the 1952 Heston film as an illustration of my father's alleged "selfishness" - she really wanted to go, he didn't want to, it became an issue, she never saw it, it won Best Picture, blah blah blah. If this project gets up and running fast enough, maybe I'll take my mom. I'm sure it'll be a markedly different film than what she wanted to see decades ago, but she's been waiting a while...
