Jack Nicholson, who won two Oscars acting in the James L. Brooks films “Terms of Endearment” and “As Good As It Gets,” may be joining Brooks’ untitled new dramedy as the father of Paul Rudd’s character.

The movie is about an exec (Rudd) and a baseball player (Owen Wilson) competing for the same girl (Reese Witherspoon).

Nicholson, who also cameoed in Brooks’ “Broadcast News,” would take a role previously earmarked for Bill Murray. While it’s sad to learn Murray may be passing on the role, I deem any reteaming of Nicholson and Brooks -- however fleeting -- cause for celebration.
