GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHT trailer hits! DC ANIMATED keeps rolling out awesome! And Chris Pine?
Hey folks, Harry here... I recently just purchased SHOWCASE 22, before the prices got too much crazier than they already were - and its funny how the origin of the Hal Jordan GREEN LANTERN hasn't shifted that much. It's Abin Sur - Hal was a test pilot - The ring chose him. Although, most seem to ignore the classic BIG YELLOW ROCKET with a conveniently RED tip - which provides the action for the film. Another thing you learn from that original first issue is the origin for why GREEN is bad luck for a bride at her wedding - I never knew Green was the chosen color of the Faeries. And you learn a great deal about the history of Rockets. I miss those old side bars of learning that you used to get in classic DC books. In the first JUSTICE LEAGUE I read a 60's Congressional Hearing about the plausibility of Inter-Planetary Travel and why we should pursue it. VERY COOL.
Anyway - let's get the Chris Pine = Hal Jordan rumor out of the way. Yes, Chris has been RUMORED to be the Emerald Knight... However, in Sydney he was heard to remark on more than one occassion that those rumors are absolutely UNTRUE. I have to say, it is a shame. Chris is pretty goddamn great in STAR TREK and I could definitely imagine him as the ring bearer. I'm sure Martin Campbell is honing in on the actor who will save a large portion of our sector of the universe.
Now to the more imminently exciting news... The first feature length GREEN LANTERN animated movie, which will be PG 13 or otherwise. I love GREEN LANTERN - and my Green Lantern will always be Hal Jordan. Which is why I'm jonesing to see this as soon as humanly possible.
