ScoreKeeper Calls 2008 'the greatest year ever' For Previously Unreleased Scores!!

Greetings! Scorekeeper here peeping through the knothole of time reflecting upon some noteworthy releases that hit soundtrack land in 2008. In an effort to make good on one of my resolutions for 2009, I want to shed more spotlight toward various labels that are continuing to make the present an unparalleled time in history to love film music.

I contend that 2008 was the greatest year ever for new soundtracks of previously unreleased or out-of-print material. To support my claim, here is a brief rundown of some of the supremely cool releases of 2008 from a pantheon of labels presently producing retro soundtracks. Many of these are limited editions and have already returned to out-of-print status. For 2009, I’m hoping to stay ahead of the curve a bit in order to purvey news of future releases in a timelier fashion.

With labels clamoring to find the next high-demand soundtrack to release, 2009 could easily top its predecessor. Although my list of holy grail soundtrack releases is dwindling, there are still plenty of shock-and-awe titles left to be made available to the public once again if only for a short while.

Will 2009 be the year?
