Cohen Talks Future MUMMY Madness!!
Merrick here...
Over at MTV, director Rob Cohen discusses the direction he hopes to take further MUMMY movies.
NOTE: NEARLY EVERYTHING HERE INVOLVES SPOILERS FOR THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, AND POTENTIALLY BEYOND!
He pretty much confirms an intent to relocate the franchise to various global locations & explore the ideas of immortality found in different cultures. This was already indicated by a super at the end of TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR.
Another idea being considered follows-up on the Shangri-La sequence from the current film.
“Rick, because he was treated by the pool of eternal life, Rick is now immortal. I’d love to explore how that plays out for him,”
...says Cohen in the MTV interview, which can be found HERE. The piece discusses a few other story ideas that are also under consideration.
Invinci-Brendan? Wouldn't seem to be much jeopardy there..unless they pull a HIGHLANDER and factor-in a way to bypass his immortality.
So, if TOMB drafted the Yeti...would a South American MUMMY movie use Chupacabra?
