"Death Ship", an episode of the original TWILIGHT ZONE television series, will become a free-standing film called COUNTDOWN from Summit Entertainment.

The story...

...revolves around a group of astronauts who land on a planet only to find a crashed spaceship and corpses that eerily resemble their own. They then must piece together where they are and whether they might in fact already be dead.

Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (2 FAST 2 FURIOUS, 3:10 To YUMA, and the upcoming A-TEAM) are re-writing a previous draft of the script, which was based on the TZ episode originally scripted by Richard Matheson. The episode itself was based on a short story of the same name which appeared in Fantastic Story Magazine (Fantastic Story Magazine: Vol. 5, No. 2 (March 1953).

The film will mark Brandt's directorial debut.
