I love that every cast listing I’ve seen for this film includes Ben Burtt as part of the cast. I assume that refers to his work designing the sounds of WALL·E and EVE, the film’s two main characters. Calling him “cast” seems appropriate, based on what I’ve already seen. I love it when my son Toshi imitates the sounds of WALL·E. He’s robot-crazy already, and he’s seen less than five minutes of the film. I think the ad campaign’s focus so far on the character instead of the story has totally paid off. People are going to know him as a character when they walk into the theater, and that’s what will connect them to it more than anything else.

The idea that Peter Gabriel’s involved in the project just turns up my anticipation another few levels. His scores for BIRDY and LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST are brilliant film work, and I think it’s a good sign that he works so infrequently. He picks projects he really cares about and can invest in, and I’m excited to see how Andrew Stanton uses him in the film.

Anyway... here’s what got me thinking about that little robot and this particular musician tonight...

Haven't seen anything on the site about this, so I thought I'd share. Seems Peter Gabriel (General musical God and soundtrack provocateur) is heavily involved in Pixar's Wall-E. I'm not sure from this if he's doing all the music, some songs or is even more heavily involved, this is a very interesting and great development for this film. He discusses his involvement in the film and spills some details about what we can expect conceptually and visually in Wall-E in this video on his site.
