Rapper/PIMP MY RIDE dude Xzibit is joining the cast of Oliver Stone's PINKVILLE.

Is it just me, or...for the most part...do rappers make surprisingly good actors (except for Ice Cube)?

The last time we reported about this film, some folks poked at the title...which is understandable...it does sound like a frothy 60s sitcom.

However, to put the title in context, "Pinkville" was the US code name My Lai's region in Viet Nam. Dark and terrible things happened in My Lai [MORE HERE].

Xzibit, whose real name is Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, joins Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum and Woody Harrelson in the drama about the 1968 My Lai Massacre, in which more than 500 people -- mostly women, children and the elderly -- were killed by U.S. soldiers. Mikko Alanne wrote the script.

Xzibit will play a soldier who is convinced he carried out his orders in a moral way.
