Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I can't say I was ever excited about remaking ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, even if Merrick stands up for the script. I'm sure there's good stuff about it, but I guess I just have no interest in seeing Snake Plissken without Kurt Russell. And I even thought Gerard Butler was a pretty inspired choice for the replacement, but that didn't help my anticipation at all.

Now he's bailed. "Creative differences."

But in an interesting turn of events, Jonathan Mostow (U-571 and BREAKDOWN, strangely starring the original Snake) has stepped in to rewrite, with an option to direct. I don't know how that's going to happen with the strike going into effect, but we'll see.
