I, Rudinius!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. One of the big pieces of news to hit this morning is the giant, million dollar deal that Scott Rudin made to snatch up the famous book I, CLAUDIUS by Robert Graves.
The book is about Claudius (given the title, I'd certainly hope so), the fourth Emperor of Rome and all the nefarious plots and counter-plots that surrounded his reign.
Word is that Leonardo DiCaprio is wanting in on the project and he wants to bring in William Monahan (THE DEPARTED) to script. Nothing's solid yet... no studio is even a part of it at the moment. Feels like the perfect starbait, though.
I remember watching the Josef Von Sternberg/Charles Laughton version of this story many, many years ago and I remember liking it, but I honestly have very little memory of the story itself. What do you guys think of this development?
