Mr. Midnight Pronounces I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK & LARRY... Not Bad!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

This is just a few weeks away now, and all I know is that the new GQ layout with Jessica Biehl in it is insanely hot.

What? There’s more to this than her in her underwear? Really?

Hey Harry,

The Screening Exchange hosted an advance preview of I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry in Plano, Texas tonight and thought I'd give my two cents. Now, I know there is plant fever going on lately because of strange Die Hard 4 positive reviews so to prove I am not one, I will start out talking about the film with this: If you do not like the typical Adam Sandler comedy, this movie is not for you, you will not like it, so don't bother buying a ticket. If you tend to enjoy the typical Adam Sandler comedy, then this one is right up your alley. I'll try and keep this as spoiler free as possible.

Now, I went into this thing with mixed feelings. I had heard somewhere down the line that this film was initially Rated R. A couple of weeks ago I found out that the film is Rated PG-13, and my expectations lowered because honest to God, PG-13 comedies rarely work anymore (look at the disasters of You, Me, and Dupree and The Benchwarmers.) However, this film is a very hard PG-13. In fact, some of the jokes I felt crossed the line into the R barrier, so I am very surprised it received the rating it got.

All of you hopefully know the plot of this movie so I won't get into that. Now, is this movie funnier then Knocked Up? Hell no. But it still is really funny. The movie had me laughing out loud more often than not. As in your typical Adam Sandler comedies, you get the cameos from his other famous buddies. Let me say that this was the best use of cameos to date in a Sandler film. We all know the Rob Schnieder one, but there are ones such as Ving Rhames, David Spade, and a certain "out of the closet" member of N'Sync, that make some of the funniest moments I have seen in a Sandler comedy in a long time.

Scenes not with the cameos are funny as well. There is this one scene where Kevin James just gets out of Career Day at his kids' school, where he is confronted by a parent that doesn't take well to homosexuality. There are jokes before hand that lead up to this scene, and when it all comes together I thought it was comic genius.

There are typical "other weird characters" that do "weird things" in Adam Sandler comedies and this one is no different (AKA random moments) Most of these random moments in other Sandler films don't really make much sense and feel out of place with the entire film. This one actually incorporates these moments into pacing of the film, and are actually funnier than in most Sandler films.

Adam Sandler and Kevin James do a particularly good job in this film. You can tell that many of their lines are ad-libbed by then and it looks like they had a lot of fun making this film. Jessica Biel is actually not that annoying in this film and if you've seen her particular "scene" in the trailers, that's not very annoying at all.

Anyway, the film is good. Not Knocked Up greatness, but good. It doesn't favor being homosexual or heterosexual but it tries to find a middle ground for both to identify with. It has a good story, good plot, and it doesn't feel like a film that I've sat through before. It looks like 2007 is the year of comedies because let me tell you this, it was a lot better than most of this year's summer junk. For those who like a star/number rating, I would give it a 3 out of 4 stars and a 8/10 as a number grade.

If you use this, call me Mr. Midnight 1201 AM
