Battle Of The Bad Wedding Comedy Trailers! Isla Fisher and Jason Biggs Vs. Krasinski, Moore And Robin Williams!
Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I showed both of these trailers to my wife. She said she would see both of these films.
She’s a much better audience for this kind of stuff than I am. These movies are made for her. I’ll give you an example. Do you remember that film THE WEDDING DATE with Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney? No? Well, congratulations, you have a penis.
My wife, on the other hand, remembers it because she’s seen it 4,680 times. In fact, she may be watching it right now. She loves Bridget Jones. She positively coos for anything Sandra Bullock’s been in, as long as she’s falling in love. So these two films would seem to be aiming to get into my wife’s wallet, and not my own. So by that measure, it appears that these two trailers work.
But for me... looking at these...
*shakes head*
First up, a movie by Michael Ian Black. Yes, that Michael Ian Black. If I didn’t know that, I’d never guess it looking at the trailer. This looks generic, pat, completely routine. It’s evidently had a lot of titles already, including THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY and THE NEXT GIRL I SEE, finally settling on the completely forgettable WEDDING DAZE.
Hi Drew
Just wanted to let you know that a fab new international trailer has just gone live on Empire Online for the hilarious Wedding Daze as an exclusive (alongside loads of unseen images) – also not sure if you are aware but is now being released in the UK first on the 1st June
Okay. That pregnant gag is well-staged, but it’s an ooooooooold joke.
And speaking of old jokes, there’s a lot about LICENSE TO WED that looks mighty familiar to me. Still, John Krasinski is undeniably funny, and I’m willing to sit through this one hoping that he sparks some signs of life in Robin Williams, who I personally find far more interesting in his eccentric dramatic choices or his occasional oddball supporting work than I do in his mainstream comedies.
Ken Kwapis may have directed the pilot for THE OFFICE, but he also directed VIBES. This is a man capable of the highs of FREAKS AND GEEKS and the lows of THE BEAUTICIAN AND THE BEAST. Yes, he may have made some LARRY SANDERS SHOW episodes, but he also gave us DUNSTAN CHECKS IN.
The man contains multitudes. Which Ken Kwapis made this film?
