here's the dirt on COBRA EFFECT:

THE STORY: Alice is a young forensic detective who finds the Cobra Virus, a brain virus that causes its victims to develop a taste for flesh before hemorrhaging to their death. With the help of veteran Littleberry, she searches for the man who engineered the virus to stop his rampage of death.

we've already seen this story--it's OUTBREAK. The difference between the two is that this tale has an actual villain who engineered the plague, who's taken out in the end. Act II is spent watching the virus spread (OUTBREAK, anyone?) as our heroes detect the clues that lead them to the source (OUTBREAK, anyone?) is pretty familiar. Script has a different scale, though, as The Cobra Effect takes place in New York City--think Outbreak meets The Siege.

all in all, I was less than impressed. Let's hope even hollywood is not so derivative to greenlight this one.
