LA Area AICN Readers... What Are You Doing Thursday Night? Come Out To Cine-Space With Moriarty!!
This is one of those weeks. I haven’t had five free minutes to myself, and it’s only going to get worse in the next few days. I’m on my way out to see an IMAX screening of 300 in a few hours. Tomorrow night’s a double-feature of Italian Crime Films at the Grindhouse Festival at the New Beverly. And then Thursday, I’m going to be at Cine-Space, hosting a special screening of EVERYTHING’S GONE GREEN starting at 7:30.

Douglas Coupland is one of those authors who blew up with an initial title, but he hasn’t really kept that same level of hype over the years. That’s a good thing, I think, because instead of chasing hype with each new title, he just focused on becoming a better and better writer. ELEANOR RIGBY from a few years ago is one of the best books I’ve read about loneliness. Coupland has done a great job of aging with his audience, growing up as a writer as they’ve grown up as readers, and with EVERYTHING’S GONE GREEN, he’s finally written an original screenplay, taking a new challenge at a time when a lot of writers would be playing it safe.
The film played the Toronto Film Festival last year and got some great reviews from outlets like VARIETY, but I haven’t had a chance to see it yet. I’ll be doing a Q&A with whoever shows up from the film (guests aren’t completely confirmed yet, but chances are you’ll see the very funny Paulo Costanzo and the stunning Steph Song if you show up), and as is the case with all Cine-Space films on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, you’ll be able to get dinner with your movie.
This may turn out to be the first of many screenings that AICN co-hosts with Cine-Space, so come on down and check out the film. Right now, the official Cine-Space site doesn’t have the calendar updated, but rest assured... I’ll be there, and so will the film. If you show up, please feel free to say hello. If you're not able to make it, then EVERYTHING GOES GREEN will be playing the SXSW festival on March 10th, and then it'll start rolling out in limited release in April.
I’ve got three reviews going up later tonight, and tomorrow, I think I’ll have a very special new feature ready to share with you. For now, I’ve gotta run so I can make it to the Bridge.
Thanks to CHUD, who hosted the exclusive premiere of the one-sheet above in this article.
