For Perlman the series represented one in a series of memorable roles that obscured his face with plastic appliances, a series that began with the caveman in 1981’s “Quest For Fire” and continued through Sayer of the Law in “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” the lead Reman in “Star Trek: Nemesis” and, of course, the title character in “Hellboy.”

The only series created by big-screen writer Ron Koslow (“Firstborn,” “Into The Night”), it ran on CBS almost 20 years ago and told the tale of a superhot socialite lawyer who fell for a hulking (if heroic and well-read) cat-creature who somehow lived among other outcasts beneath the streets of Manhattan.

The creature even managed to knock up the hot district attorney. The entire third and final season revolved around cat-boy’s efforts to retrieve his own kidnapped spawn. The girls seemed to like it.

One character in the first season, USC sorority girl and Teen Vogue intern Whitney Port, is gorgeous and five inches taller than all the other girls on the show; all I can think whenever she’s on screen is she looks like a runway model. So guess what happens? A runway model conveniently can’t make it to the show and Port is asked to sub. Afterwards one of the more effeminate organizers tells Port she could be a runway model for a living. He’s obviously some sort of genius.

Finally, just announced for a May 29 release is The Andy Griffith Show: The Complete Series, arguably the best sitcom of the 1960s in its entirety for only $142.99.
