NEW YORK – January 30, 2007 – NBC's "Saturday Night Live" welcomes Drew Barrymore back to the program on February 3 with musical guest Lily Allen and, fresh from his SAG Award victory, Oscar nominee Forest Whitaker with country star Keith Urban on February 10.
SNL's youngest host in its over 30-year history, Drew Barrymore first hosted on November 20, 1982 while starring in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster "E.T." This is her fifth time hosting the program.
Barrymore will soon be seen opposite Hugh Grant in the romantic comedy "Music and Lyrics" and in the poker drama "Lucky You" with Eric Bana. Previous credits include other romantic comedies opposite SNL alums Jimmy Fallon ("Fever Pitch") and Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates." In addition to her soaring acting career –
starring in over thirty features – Barrymore has launched a successful production company as well, Flower Films. Flower Films was behind the blockbuster "Charlie's Angels" and its sequel "Full Throttle," "Donnie Darko" as well as the romantic comedy hit "Never Been Kissed. Among her many credits are "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," "Duplex;" "Riding In Cars With Boys," "Ever After: A Cinderella Story," "Boys on the Side," "Batman Forever," Woody Allen's "Everyone Says I Love You" and her unforgettable appearance in the horror smash "Scream."
Joining Barrymore on Feb. 3 is one of the most talked-about acts for 2007 – Lily Allen. Already a sensation in the U.K., with her first record "Alright, Still" debuting at No. 2 on the charts and its first single "Smile" topping the charts for six weeks in a row. Now, Allen's unique sound crosses the pond on a wave of press attention, garnering praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Vibe and Spin and the adoration of millions of fans thanks to her massive online presence.
On February 10, SNL welcomes freshly minted Oscar nominee Forest Whitaker for his SNL debut.
One of the most accomplished actors/directors/producers working today, Whitaker is having a banner year. For his work as Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in "The Last King of Scotland," he has received practically every critic's award; a Golden Globe and SAG award as Best Actor and has been nominated for an Oscar for the role.
Whitaker is a veteran of numerous films since his debut at 21 in "Fast Times At Ridgemont High," Whitaker has appeared in such memorable and diverse studio and indie movies as "Panic Room," Clint Eastwood's "Bird" "The Crying Game" "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai," "Smoke," "Good
Morning, Vietnam," to name a few. He's also directed the features "Waiting To Exhale" and "Hope Floats" and served as producer on countless other productions including the award winning telefilm "Door To Door" and in addition, he has delivered critically acclaimed turns on the Emmy
winning TV dramas "The Shield" and most recently NBC's "ER."
Also making his first appearance on SNL is Grammy Award winner Keith Urban. In what has been a relatively short period of time Urban has amassed seven No. 1 singles and 12 Top 5's. His latest album, "Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Album Chart, giving him his second consecutive No.1 album. The first single from the album "Once In A Lifetime," set a record as the highest debuting song in the history of the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart and his latest, "Stupid Boy," recently entered the Top 10.
"Saturday Night Live," is from SNL Studios in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels. Steve Higgins produces. Marci Klein and Mike Shoemaker are producers. Head writers are Seth Meyers, Paula Pell and Andrew Steele. Don Roy King directs.
