I am – Hercules!!

The following takes place between 10 a.m. and 10:11 a.m.

One square mile of Valencia, Calif. – probably containing that old bald dancing guy at Six Flags Magic Mountain – has been vaporized.

The good news is winds from the south are blowing the radiation away from the more populated areas.

Tom (Peter MacNicol) tells President Palmer that initial estimates put the death toll at “no less than 12,000.”

The FAA has shut down all air traffic.

The president, learning from CTU of the other four nukes, is ushered into the super-fancy presidential bunker, where he will be momentarily joined by a good hunk of his cabinet.

Chloe is freaking out that so many people are dead, including Curtis. Chloe also can’t believe Jack chose this moment to quit.

Traffic is madness. Fayed’s van nearly smooches a little girl as speeding vehicles flee Los Angeles.

Fayed talks to McCarthy, the man who sold him the bombs. Fayed needs McCarthy to make the triggers on the four remaining nukes operational.

We don’t see Jack again until about 10:08. He is up off the lawn but stunned, standing on the sidewalk and staring at the mushroom cloud as pandemonium erupts all around him.

Jack snaps out of it when somebody tells him about someone trapped in a news chopper that has crashed into the roof of a nearby house. Jack fixes that problem in the space of 90 seconds, then gets on the phone to CTU. Bill tells him about the four other nukes.

“You need to pick me,” Jack tells Bill.
“I thought you were out.”
“Not after this.”
“Alright, tell me where you are; I’ll send a car.”
“I’m at the corner of Glasgow and 15th.”
“We’ll be there.”
