Well, then. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in May of 2005, we were the first ones to break the story that Angry Films was developing a film that would use the FACES OF DEATH title to jumpstart what they hope will be a new horror franchise. At that point, there was no director attached and no studio involved.

All that appears to have changed now according to a story in VARIETY today. I'd heard that JT Petty (SOFT FOR DIGGING) was involved in the film, and based on the early word of mouth on S&MAN, his latest film, he might be the right guy for the job. Rick Benattar, Susan Montford and Don Murphy are going to produce the film, and they'll be using Dr. Francis B. Gross, the only real "character" from the original films, as the focal point of this new version.

With SAW III opening today to what I'm sure will be a monstrous opening weekend, the horror craze continues unabated, and I'm sure we'll see this one onscreen soon.
