Remember how I mentioned the nearly exact similarity between TOTAL RECALL 2 and MINORITY REPORT, well our agent in the field, Kuato, had this to say about the whole ordeal, and Kuato knows all my friend...

By using my strange and powerful mutant abilities, perhaps I can clear up some of the controversy and shed some of the true light upon the story as it unfolds.

Minority Report is based ona Philip K. Dick story of the same name, which was originally developed with the intention of becoming TOTAL RECALL 2. The original drafts simply inserted the characters from TOTAL RECALL into a Minority Report framework (a future where psychic 'Precogs' predict future crimes, allowing perps to be arrested before they've committed the homicides, etc.) So the first few drafts, which I believe were written by TOTAL RECALL writers, sometimes bore the title TOTAL RECALL 2.

When Jon was hired, it was on the understanding that the project was no longer intended as a follow up to TOTAL RECALL. He ignored the other drafts therefore and returned to the source story "Minority Report," and hasn't used a single character, scene, or line of dialogue or description from pre-existing drafts (though the WGA being what it is, he'll probably have to share credit. Wouldn't be fair in the least.)

So anyway, MINORITY REPORT is a project set up at Blue Tulip (Jan De Bont's company at Fox) and is not related to Miramax in any way (or Jonathan Frakes). Schwartzanegger was circling at one time, but now Tom Cruise and Spielberg aparently are and God willing they'll commit sometime soon.
