We’re down to the last five hours of season one. Tonight’s deals with Sayid, and features characters named Agent Cole and Agent Hewitt. So I’m guessing it deals with how everybody’s favorite Iraqi has been secretly stalking Shannon since her bat mitzvah!!

Does “Lost” know what it’s doing? These last five hours (there’s a two-hour season finale on May 25) are vital. These hours will determine whether “Lost” is “X-Files” or “Buffy.” Whether it’s “Freakylinks” or “The Prisoner.” Whether “Lost” will betray our faith or justify it.

We’ve learned a few things since the last new episode, but you’re going to have to learn how to access our super-sophisticated invisotext encoding to access these.

Next week, a character named Dr. Artz joins the fray. That’s right, there's another doctor on the island! He’s probably a urologist or a chiropractor or a faithless mail-order minister. And almost certainly not turning animals into sentient disciples. What? Who said that? The French woman’s name was Rousseau, not Moreau (and Rousseau will be back for the last three hours)!

The week after Artz’s arrival? The cute but kinda scary Michelle Rodriguez (“Girlfight,” “Fast and the Furious,” “Resident Evil,” “Blue Crush,” “SWAT”) joins the cast. She plays Ana-Lucia. She, Artz and Rousseau are all hanging around in the final hour.
