Is KINSEY Finally Going To Get It Up'!
Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
That’s the rumor this morning, according to Cathy Dunkley over at VARIETY.
I first wrote about KINSEY a little over two years ago, when I first read the script by Academy Award winner Bill Condon. I remain a firm advocate of this project and this particular approach, even if I haven’t read the more recent drafts. Condon demonstrated remarkable class in how he handled difficult, adult material, and I was impressed deeply by his characterization in the script.
Evidently Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, and Ian McKellen all agree with me. And Chris O’Donnell should get down on his hands and knees and kiss the feet of whoever got him attached to this film. It’s the best thing he’s been part of in as long as I can remember.
With his cast in place, Condon is supposed to start shooting in March. Man, I hope that’s true. I want to see this film. I think this film would blow people’s minds. It’s at least as good as the script Condon wrote for GODS & MONSTERS. Makes sense that things would heat up for the film now. CHICAGO, which Condon wrote the screenplay for, is picking up steam as a serious Oscar contender, and critics are chomping at the bit to get a chance to see the film that Miramax is already shrewdly campaigning for in New York with a series of screenings for people like Mike Nichols and some of the more notorious gossip columnists. CHICAGO is going to be one of the most-discussed films of the upcoming season, and if Condon is Oscar-nominated again this year, he’ll be walking into KINSEY with enough muscle to pull off this demanding tale without compromise.
Keep your fingers crossed.
