Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

It started out as a joke, one aimed pretty specifically at us here at AICN. I mean, there was no missing it. When Harry and I saw JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK together, we were startled by how obvious the parody was. Having Mysterio stalki... I mean “observing” him while he worked... must have driven Kevin to make the jokes he did.

Looks like he’s not joking anymore.

Kevin’s putting together an interesting site that looks to be a source for commentary on pop culture. He’s got a heavy line-up of columnists, including AICN’s Chris Allen, whose final BREAKDOWNS for this site ran today.

I’d like to recommend a few other features specifically if you’re going to go check the site out. First, there’s a great column today by Robert Burnett, a guy I’ve known since 1990 or so. He was a laserdisc fanatic back then, and now he’s a DVD special features producer who is going to provide a look at just what goes into making these DVDs truly “special editions.”

I would also highly recommend reading anything on the site that has Brian Lynch’s name on it. He’s a very funny man, even (and especially) when he’s making fun of us. I still haven’t read Brian’s scripts NIGHTCRAWLERS or THE NEXT MUPPET MOVIE, but I’ve always got my eye out for them. If he’s as good on a script page as he is in a comic strip, then we need to see some films from him soon.

All in all, MoviePoopShoot.com seems like it’s got a strong, personal voice even now, a few days into its existence, and there’s always room on the Internet for passionate writing about this industry and the product, both good and bad, that it releases each year. I look forward to seeing what these guys come up with in the months and (hopefully) years ahead.
