Michael Mann's Tobbacco Flick!!!!
|
Here's more info on Michael Mann's latest flick, this one on the Tobacco Industry. Personally I hope Michael sticks it to those Tobacco Types. Why? Well, if this news had come several days ago, I wouldn't of said anything, but when the R.J. Reynolds company sent my mother a letter asking to write my two Senators on behalf of the Tobacco Lobby, well my blood began to boil. You see my mother died burning in bed. Cause of the fire? A cigarette. One produced by R.J. Reynolds. So I do feel that the tobacco lobby deserves it's teeth ripped out.
The Anti-Hillbilly is here again, passing along information
from the land of Louisville, Kentucky, where shoes are worn, cousins are
not dating material, and roadkill is left where it lay. I am perhaps
the laziest spy ever, because all I'm doing is stealing information from
the newspaper. What I've got for you is a few more bits of casting news
from the new Michael Mann film. Again, my source is The
Courier-Journal.
As mentioned last time, Russell Crowe is playing tobacco-company
whistle-blower Jeffrey Wigand and Al Pacino is a "60 Minutes" producer.
Now it's reported that Diane Venora (who was in Mann's last film Heat)
is playing Wigand's wife. And playing cheesy 60 Minutes reporter Mike
Wallace is the very cool Christopher Plummer.
The article also mentions that filming will soon take place in the
Seelbach hotel in downtown Louisville (a famous local landmark). Scenes
with Christopher Plummer were filmed at a local TV station on Monday.
Accompanying the artice is a picture of Crowe as Wigand which I will try
to get scanned and send you later today. If you've ever seen Wigand,
you'll see the resemblance immediately. Crowe is a bit younger and
thinner than Wigand, but otherwise he definitely looks the part.
