New Behind The Scenes STAR WARS EPISODE TWO Quicktime!

Published at:  Aug 03, 2001 8:22:38 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... Seems that Lucas and company have released another peak behind the curtain of STAR WARS EPISODE TWO. Go check it out, I am...

Harry check it out.
---

Star Wars" fans can get another sneak peek at the forthcoming sequel with a
new making-of video posted at the film's official site.

The clip, available at
THIS LOCATION, is entitled "A
Twinkle Beyond Pluto". It is built around life on the set of the
as-yet-untitled "Episode II" for the hundreds of extras employed to populate
the film's richly detailed worlds.

Aside from talking-head interviews with producer Rick McCallum, casting
directors, costume-makers, and production assistants, there's informal
between-take interviews with costumed background actors discussing life on
the set.

The film also includes tantalizing glimpses at "Episode II," including a few
brief scenes of a shiny spaceship zipping through space and landing on a
rocky planet; a parade sequence showing child actors throwing flower petals;
and a glimpse of a saloon sequence based on classic Western barroom brawls.

McCallum also reveals that he makes a background cameo in the new film.

Why is it so damn hard just to view a single video? Harry gives us some generic link that doesn't even go to the video, you have to click around until you finally find it, but you have to register. Then some other ass posts a link... to a forum where the links there don't work. Can someone just post a simple, short, link, that actually goes to the actual video? Thankyou.

Why not get a high speed server just for holding various videos and things? It will come in handy during times like this when links are busted and you have to register etc, and expecially when its a new trailer and Apple's site is swamped. Think it over.

It may just be me, but in the stills posted from the short on theforce.net I see what appears to be the movie version Grinch. I never saw the movie but from what I remember it does look like I'm right. The still in question is in the 2nd batch of stills. I think it's titled something like "Part 5 Red Cloak". If you look at the photo look to the left of the pic and the Grinch is leaning against a wall next to a "greedo" alien. No biggie just thought it was kinda funky.

Stuff it you bunch of losers. Come 2002 you'll all be in line months in advance to watch what we've made. Your money is as good ours! AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAH!!!!!! My cameo will lead to an even greater role which I'm not allowed to disclose as of right now. Oh yeah and George has a very clear vision about the story of Star Wars that he won't allow to be swayed by the whims of the Internet, the media, critics or anyone. The Internet rumors this time around are possibly even more funny and off base than they were for the first film. Rick OUT!!!!!

  • This is the last of the Star Wars posts I intend to read, and I wanted to chime in on the subject for once. Unlike those of you who are still personally offended by the inclusion of Jar Jar Binks in the prequel, I enjoyed it for what it was. A family film with some adult elements. I saw it seven times in the theatre, and never once didn't enjoy it. But, on the other hand, I know people who are still so pissed about it, that their eyes roll back in their heads, and they foam at the mouth if I even bring up the film. What I want to know is, why all the hatred directedat Lucas, and especially McCallum? There are people a hell of a lot more deserving of vitriolic hatred than these two. Michael Bay, Carrot Top, Pauly Shore, or Yahoo Serious, anyone? All far more desrving of disrespect than Lucas. Lastly, a quick story, about a friend of mine. When he was a kid, he worshipped the original trilogy. He had seen them hundreds of times. Fast forward to 1999, Episode I is released, and the "Fanboy Menace" begins. But my friend, never goes to see it. And till this day still hasn't. Why? Well, I'll tell you. He doesn't want to ruin his memories of the trilogy, so he's never going to see the new films. Sad, really, but maybe some of you should do the same, instead of trying to ruin it for everyone else with your childish comments about Lucas, McCallum or the films.

    by penter

I've been trying to avoid spoilers for Ep. II so I don't know where this Jango Fett Character has come from. I am suprised however, that nobody seems to be interested in the fate of Anikan's mother Shmi. My bet is that Anikan's betrayal will hinge on her being in some sort of peril. Just as Luke abandons his jedi training to rescue his friends in Cloud City. I think the whole clone war thing will be background context and a lot of fanboys looking for mass carnage as the focus of the movie are setting themselves up for unavoidible disapointment.

  • Oh, I didn't wait long enough. Here they come now. Guess it's too late to say, sorry folks, Ep I is in the books, GL isn't going to edit Jar Jar out or overdub Jake Lloyd on the DVD, all that "Phantom Edit" garbage has thankfully fallen by the wayside, Episode II may or may not suck but we won't know until next year, you're only gonna see what LFL wants you to see between now and then, and that all speculation / rumor is pointless...oh well...

Just keep bringin' the Kevin Smith interviews and the Spiderman spy photos and the "Fuck Scooby Doo" articles. Anyways, see BubbleBoy this August and get a sneak preview of the promotional figure to be available this November...Darth Tooth, as played by Beetlejuice, in the long-overdue (FALSE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!) expository Sith flashback sequence. I for one love the LOTR books and the Star Wars films(yes ALL of them including TPM) and liked the Matrix (though not as much as everyone else). Can't we all just revell in a time when MANY, not just one as per usual, Science Fiction films come out in a given year. Everyone's WAY too over interested in bashing each other these days...AND by the way Episode 2 looks very promising, Fellowship looks plain awesome and Matrix 2 sounds like the Wachowski Bros. are still on track . Ok, there was a ton of shit to dislike about Ep1. There was a ton of shit to hate about Ep6. There was a bunch of good things about Ep4 and 5. Maybe, just maybe, Ep 2 and 3 will kick some major sphincter. As far as Matrix being better and Matrix 2/3 kicking Star Wars ass, and LOTR whailing the shit out of Star Wars, I would realy not like to see that happen. I would like to see all these films be totaly goddamn awsome. I want to come out of the theatre feeling like I just spent two hours banging the piss out of Pam Anderson ( or that Yasmin chick, oh yea), thats how good I want ALL these films to be. Because I don't want to be dissapointed by any of them. I would like to go through one flipping year where I saw nothing but balls to the wall movie making magic. So shut your fucking yap's and lets all be optimistic for a change!!!

Mine are all disabled. Works like a charm. I've also got cookies turned off. Learn to *use* your browser, people, it ain't rocket science. As for Episode II. . .well, I hope it rocks, but I don't really care either way at this point. Bring on LORD OF THE RINGS. How well it does at the box office is immaterial to me, I just want it to be great.

Hey, suck my dick Jobs, QuickTime blows - hence the name "BlowJobs". It's time for that lameass format to die. I'll take WMP and DivX any day over QT... Btw, Episode One sucked donkey cock, and no matter how good Ep2 might be it will never erase that total piece of shit from existence. I'd like to travel back in time and assassinate Lucas when Ep1 was a mere twinkle in his eye, and Jar Jar was the product of a wet dream, but alas, the damage is done. You can't watch Ep2 without Ep1, if only for the sake of continuity, and sadly Ep1 is complete garbage. I wouldn't watch that shit again if you paid me... um, OK, give me a mil and I'll consider it...

Correct me if I'm wrong but DIVX is only a variant of MPEG-4 which Micro$oft already used in their asf files (mpeg-4 not DIVX). Aside from some attempts from some video groups to bang out a standard, has there been any major backing for it? I have to admit it looks great but it seems to have that "pirate video" stigma attached to it due to its popularity in the newsgroups and IRC channels. I'd rather have a saveable clip than deal with streaming media which looks like stuttering crap

Have the NO-LIFE LOSERS learned from Episode I??

    by notchjohnson

Hey surfers, Notch Johnson here. I got a question - HAVE YOU LEARNED ANY LESSONS FROM EPISODE I? Are you gonna camp outside like morons again for 'Star Wars' tickets, when it turned out that the average person could get their tickets at the window in about .0000383 seconds time? Do the math. 400 losers camp out for a 1,000 seat theatre. You're still gonna have 600 people with lives arriving about one hour before the film to get their own tickets. How about the Episode I toys? Remember going to Toys R Us at midnight and spending hundreds of dollars (I had to run interference for a friend who wanted every Darth Maul toy known to man)? Well, after spending about $250 in one shot, we turned around and those toys were discounted about 95%. What has been learned for Episode II? RANT DONE. Relating to the Episode II QuickTime episodes, I think they're well-done, perhaps the best features the SW.com site has ever shown. They are infinitely better than the Ahmed Best or Ep I 'Making of' editions. I'm waiting for the Jango Fett/Boba Fett one, which I'm sure they're gonna cover. Thanks and ride the big one! Notch

    by foreskin_jones

I remember when The Matrix was first released how everyone in Talkback LOVED that movie and even said that Episode I will have to live up to the hype to compete with it. I personally never got the comparison and while I enjoy both franchises they are just too damn different to compare C'mon guys, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Sci-Fi/Techno Punk? where are they similar? I remember over at the Imdb recently someone posted in the Star Wars user comments that A New Hope is super boring and overrated and that you should see The Matrix instead. What the hell triggered this argument I've been visiting this site for about Four Years now and I still don't know how the Star Wars Vs. The Matrix argument started. Can somebody please tell me? Did I miss Something?

    by mad maximus

I don't know where the person above lives where he made the comment about the folks camping out, but in NYC at the Ziegfeld, they had 24 hour sold out showings for the premiere, and that's a ~1,500 seat theater. Maybe he lives in the sticks, I don't know. Hell, I even called movie phone, and was amused to find out that even the 4 AM showings were sold out. Now can we talk about EPII????

MATRIX set new standards in special effects?

    by majorq007

    by majorq007

While EP1 had its flaws, there's only one that they can't really fix: the god-damned midichloridians. Here's hoping to they just drop it, and never speak of them again. Why will SW2 be better? No Jake Lloyd. Very little Jar-Jar. Much darker, too. Beyond the significant errors of EP1, I don't think Lucas couldv'e pleased everyone no matter what he did. Plus, EPII benefits greatly from the lack of press its been getting. With everyone focusing on SPIDER-MAN as the big movie next summer, SW2 won't have very high of a bar to clear--people will be pleasantly surprised. Oh, and on a financial note, SPIDER-MAN will disappoint at the box office in a big way after opening weekend.

LIS was that most annoying of films--starting out great for the first hour or so, and then crashes and burns. As if Cameron had written/directed 1/3 of the thing and then Ed Wood the rest. Grrr. Anyway, as I've said before, Ep. I didn't work only because Lucas was rusty. I'm thinkin' (and hopin' and prayin') that he's got those ol' creative juices flowing again and the next two films will be back on track. So here's to 2002: May LOTR, EP. Well, for my money...

    by lobanhaki

George Lucas earns the box office he gets. I have seen no movie so comprehensively fantastic as Episode One. It's too bad the script was mediocre, but you have to take the good with the bad. The question: Who out there in the film world even begins to approach Lucas terms of Science Fiction and Fantasy? The Lord of the Rings, if all goes well, will add to things, and The Matrix is heading in that direction, but few other directors, producers or studios are willing to make the serious investment in this kind of genre work that George Lucas has. Additionally, it must be recognized that those two film series are only here because of the Star Wars Legacy. Lucas's ILM helped to take CGI and take it from an animation curiosity to THE method of Special Effects for the 21st century. And this is after the optical effects boom that Star Wars itself created. Episode I is no masterpiece, but it took film in a direction it hasn't been before, and really hasn't been since, and for that George Lucas deserves credit.

I agree that the ending to Ep. 2 is weak. The whole idea of having Dooku point over Obi Wan's shoulder and say, "What the hell is that?" and run like hell when Obi Wan turns around to look is just silly. Also, what was Lucas thinking in the big confrontation scene when Mace Windu reaches up Yoda's ass and pulls out Frank Oz' arm? That just sort of wrecked the whole fantasy of the moment. But I did laugh at the scene where Obi Wan tells Anakin, "I know James Earle Jones has a cool voice, but knock it off!"

Of course any SW will have a ton of folks lining up, it had a 24+ year fanbase to draw upon. It would be the constant lining up over time that would give some indication if folks enjoyed it. Whether its a good movie or not is a subject to debate. Look at some of the movies who've had stong initial openings but dismal dropoffs the following weeks as word got out.
