Gory Gory, Hallelujah!!!! That's Right, News About BLOOD FEAST 2!!!

Published at:  Jul 21, 2001 3:32:56 PM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here... Here comes the news on Herschell Gordon Lewis' shocking return to the silver screen... BLOOD FEAST 2: BUFFET OF BLOOD!!!! Not since seventies filmmaker Terrence Malick returned to the screen have I been this excited. That's right folks, BLOOD will be back on the screen in all of its bloody glory!

Harry,

I have been a long time reader on your site. I think that your site sets the
standard of movie info, rumors, and various other nuggets of goodness. With
all of that said, I hope that you will be interested in the good knowledge
that I have. On 7/27/01, Blood Feast 2: Buffet of Blood will begin rolling
cameras in Mandeville, LA. In fact, the "Godfathers of Gore" are
arriving in town today.

Herschell Gordon Lewis flew into New Orleans
International Airport this morning at 8:30 AM. David F. Freidman is
arriving this evening by train around 6:30 PM. The crew is all assembled and
we are all excited at the opportunity to work with Herschell and David. We
really feel that this is something special. We confirmed last night that
John Waters will be doing a cameo as a preacher. There will be more cameos
as well. Phil Anselmo, lead singer of Pantera, will appear as well as Rob
Zombie. Jacky is trying to get everything worked out with Rob right know.
Most of the crew that will be working on this has been assembled for more
than a year now.

Everyone got together last August on the set of "Bully".
Jacky served as the line producer on that film. After "Bully", Jacky and
crew went on to do "American Leather" and "Love, Liza" with Kathy Bates and
Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Boyd Ford has written the screenplay. I think the
script really does the job at staying loyal to the original Blood Feast,
while raising the bar in the gore and sex factor. We are scheduled for a 15
to 18 day shoot. Harry, I really think that we got something going here. Let
me know what you think.

IDGAF

P.S.- Harry for more info go to http://www.bloodfeast2.net. Oh yeah, make
sure that you turn your speakers up when you get to the site. Click on
Flash, it kicks ass!

How long has it been since there was a "good" horror movie not involving teenage idols? You know, one with a really BAD bad guy? Was Freddy the last one? I haven't watched many horror/slasher/gore type movies in the last few years but then, I haven't heard of any worth the time involved. Jeepers Creepers is the first one in a very long time I've felt even the slightest desire to see and, hopefully, JC will help re-ignite the public's interest in this genre. Remember Friday the 13th, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc? I'm talking about the first movie in each of the series and not sequel #47 Freddie and Jason meet the Predator and Alien! The first time I saw Friday the 13th was at a drive-in on a Friday evening with some older friends from the neighborhood. It was fantastic! I sincerely hope that a new "monster" arrives soon for all the teens of today to sneak into as we did then. Of course, back then they really didn't care how old you were if you had the money ;)____A Bee waitng for a beautiful mystery Monster

  • No one , oh, excuse me I am writing on AICN, noone has answered my question. I was actually quite serious in that I am unsure if he was the last one to be so well known. I remember The Candyman but never bothered to see the/any sequels as it was more strange than scary by the ending. I also remember some guy that was electricuted and then could go through the electrical wires and kill people but it seemed to be a Freddy ripoff. Both movies had leading actors with a lot of potential but the script betrayed them in the end. But seriously folks, have there been any recent contenders?____A Bee seeking an answer from the "lurkers" here

HAHA! Where we the ONLY two people to see "Shocker"? LOL. (Did you realize that he was played by the same guy that plays Skinner in "X-Files?). I do think that the Um... "Creeper" from the upcoming "Jeepers Creepers" film may be the next to be turned into a monster franchise. I does look like it's gonna be pretty damn scary. H.G. Lewis is not a genius.
Joel M. Reed is not a genius either.
THe revisonist celebration of Lewis is silly. His films are crude, and they are not crude intentionally. They are crude because he is not a very good filmmaker. Sorry, it is true. If you celebrate his work because of its cheesy sleaze factor, so be it. This sequel that only his faithful have been clamoring for will never really get distributed theatrically. YOu may see it at a few fests or if someone has a special showing, but otherwise nothing. I think you'll find his rather creaky "magic" lacking , but lap it up anyway. fanboys. Hmmm... Do you consider the "Brady Bunch Movies" to be a horror franchise? Because I think there's a strong argument for considering Shelly Long a horror icon. Oh well, I suppose that I should just be glad that the horror movie "Popcorn" didn't get turned into a series.

  • Well, hell, that ain't much of a choice, now is it? Eat or be eaten... I actually CAN believe we are the only two to ADMIT to seeing "Shocker", but are you serious? That's the same guy in "Shocker" (thanks for the title BTW) that IS Skinner? Nooo, you're shittin' me now, aren't you? Come on, admit it without me having to go to IMBD.com and prove you wrong...uh, Mayhem, uh, why aren't you telling me this is a joke? ARE YOU FOR REAL?? I wouldn't put it past you to have a little fun here! Despite all that you hit on one of my favorite movies of all times...Hellraiser! I saw that in a theater when it first came out. When we (my date and me) left, he was talking about this and that and all I could think about was how FANTASTIC the movie was to me! He just didn't "get it" the way I did when we left the theater... Yes, I forgot about him and I have to admit that movie gave me the "creeps"! Last House on the Left

    by fodder

Hello everyone, I'm a newie (so play NICE)! I've recently seen the film "Last House on the Left", by Wes Craven, I think it may have been his first. Now this film is an old one, before the realistic gory special effects that we all know and - well have got bored with really, haven't we? And I'm not new to splatter movies, I've seen plenty and fallen asleep during a good few. But this one really shocked me - it's just unrelenting, and I found it very uncomfortable to watch. Probably it had more of an impact because of the lack of gloss, seemed a bit too "fly on the wall" just to treat as another horror flick. Has anyone else seen it? I'd like to hear your opinions.

Mitch Pileggi as Horace Pinker in Wes Craven's SHOCKER. Criminy, now I'm gonna have to rent it. Woody Allen can just friggin' wait, by damn. One wonders what Gillian Anderson's first film was--no wait, don't tell me, I don't want to know. Probably NINJA CHEERLEADERS vs ALIEN CUISINART 4 or something equally high-octane. . .

I attended a HGL marathon awhile back at a local theatre here in Florida...was really excited, me and my good friend went to the all night marathon ready to be scared and grossed out and actually Meet Mr. Lewis in person (he was attending the little "Marathon") we left after the third movie. This movies are HORRIBLE. Not bad in a fun way. Not a "gory" guilty pleasure film...this films were just awful. Terrible. But Mr. Lewis appeared to be a really nice guy...so I hope the movie makes a whole shit load of money for him.

...but other than that it wasnt a very good film - But DEFINETLY watch "The House of Mirth" - In that Anderson gives a very memorable performance. As for Mitch Pileggi (Skinner) his first film was actually WORSE than "Shocker"!!! It was a film called "The Mongrel" - possibly the crapiest horror film ever made! IMAGINE: A film about a "murdered" dog coming back from the dead seeking revenge. NO, I am NOT kidding. To be honest I'm not sure what David Duchovnys FIRST film was - BUT I will tell you this: His BEST early role had to be in "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" (Sarcastic? Hmmm... maybe just a little).

Brad Dourifs early work includes his Oscar nominated role as Billy Bibbit in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and his next role will be Grima Wormtongue in the upcoming "Lord of the Rings" trilogy! He's been in films like "Dune", "Exorcist 3", "Graveyard Shift", "Alien: Resurrection" and "Prophecy 3" AND has been in TV shows like "X-Files", "Tales from the Crypt", "Babylon 5" and "Star Trek: Voyager" (Ok, I know what you're thinking - but in light of his other achievements I dont think we should hold the "Voyager" thing against him). This man is a Genre God! His works in Horror/SciFi should warrant some kind of life time achievement award. Think about the voice of Chucky... who else could have made you afraid of a "Good Guy Doll"?!

  • I've ben waiting for this thing for a long time...I miss the type of movies HGL used to make...he didn't give shit one about movie critics or elitist film geeks, he made his movies for his fans and that was it...he churned out more fake blood per dollar than just about anyone...if I see HGLs name on a movie, I want former playboy playmates and extreme gore..if he tries to start telling a damn story or worrying about character development, then I'll have to save my rental movie for the latest Fred Olen Ray and/or Jim Wynorski video that hits the shelves...while you idiots are busy complaining about "Tombraider" and "Pearl Harbor" sucking, us b-movie diehards are getting the tried and true from good ole FOR and JimmyW...Well, I'm off to laugh at the hysterically inept Fango site (great mag, shitty site) and see if they have any dirt on HGL's latest. Yes, I'll be renting that one ASAP. ^_^ Gawd is she *hot.* She was an absolute Goddess Supreme in THE HOUSE OF MIRTH and proved that she was definately 90% of the Scully/Mulder acting talent on That Show Of Her's. Why won't she marry me?! *Sniff.* As for THE MONGREL, I took a look at it's entry at imdb.com and oh yes indeed it doth look like sub-Troma level sewage. I suppose ya gotta start somewhere, but at least it should be entertaining. Steve McQueen started out in THE BLOB and that was fun.

Those movies are there, there is no denying that, but what I am was asking is, "Where are the monsters? The truly evil so scary you squirm in your seat when you think they are out there kind of monsters?" Hannibal? Ha! The faceless guy (can't remember name right now, Jules Verne or something) was so evil in the book he made your skin crawl but in the movie wasn't even close. As far as Hannibal? Go watch SotL's...Hannibal was/is a "monster" but not the same B movie way I am talking about. BWP? Where's the monster? It was stupid! It almost gave me motion sickness and I have been deep sea fishing within days of a hurricane passing through (SC) while pregnant and never got sick. AND almost won the boat prize (well, what the hell, a sea turtle is a bottom feeder dammit!). SoE? Vaguely remember seeing...er, obviously not anything memorable there. Pitch Black, damn, that's funny! Are you calling that a horror movie? DC, I ain't trying to put you down but these are not the horror movie monsters that make you afraid to go to sleep at night. Lake Placid is closest thing comparible to the type of movie talked about here. Even then, it was just a big gator, right? No real monster. When you go to bed at night and Freddy is in your dreams or your little sister's doll starts talking like Chuckie...then you'll "get it". I'm truly not trying to put you down or anything, I'm just saying that there is no creature created by Hollywood lately that can make you feel the way the earlier, un-PC monsters made us older people feel. It isn't that we were "stupider" or "didn't know any better" or that the FX were less effective, it is just that no one has created a monster lately that could make the hair on the back of your neck stand up merely by someone saying it's name!____Bee
